To Kimono or Not To Kimono

I like kimono sleeves. They are dramatic. They are fun. They balance out wide hips or thighs and even fool the eye into thinking that you have more on top than you really do. With that kind of recommendation, you would think that every woman should run out and buy this Hirari Kimono Sleeved Tunic at Neiman Marcus.Unfortunately, not every woman should wear this fashion trend. The kimono sleeve is not a friend to all. Let’s all commit to memory my little rule set to rhyme for kimono sleeves.

Kimono sleeves, for the most part are not for the well endowed of our sex. Mixing a kimono sleeved shirt with a large chest is just a bad idea, because it actually can make you look top heavy, in a not so good way. There are (as with most rules) a few exceptions. If you can find a shirt with demure kimono sleeves, like this Style & Co tunic found at Macy’s, you can make it work.
