The Fashion Knock-Off Legislation?

Copyright Anna Sui and Forever 21According to the New York Times, the U.S. Senate is joining the battle against fashion knockoffs. Hmmm, apparently high-end fashion has lobbying dollars, who knew?

Essentially, American designers are trying to stop companies like Forever 21, Bitten, Urban Outfitters, Top Shop, and even H&M from ‘biting’ their style and making what they consider to be counterfeits. At a news conference on Wednesday, Senator Charles E. Schumer, discussed a bill that would extend copyright production to fashion. According to Schumer, “Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but it’s bad for our fashion industry here in New York.” Yes, Mr. Schumer, but what about my wallet?
