StyleMob Opens to the Public
StyleMob, a social networking site based on fashion, is set to have its full launch this week. Tossing aside its invite-only beta status, baby is coming out with arms wide open to the world.
StyleMob works by getting users (mostly young females) to upload photos of their outfits along with brand and price information. Other users then vote on the outfit, while ‘StyleCouncils’ provide comments feedback. Users (or clothes) with the most ‘buzz’ get featured on the main page.
The idea is novel and the site already has over 6,000 active users from the invite-only stage. I could really see it going beyond a basic facebook-for-fashion and into a forum that really lets new designers showcase their work, discuss it with others and get access to instant feedback. In the meantime, uploading images of myself for critique isn’t on the top of my to-do list. Would you do it?
