Premier Designs Jewelry?

by Daphne on May 23rd, 2007

Am I missing something important here? I had never ever heard of the Premier Designs jewelry company until today, when one of our readers posted a comment on a previous article about Lia Sophia. Does anyone have more information about this, other than that they have a pretty small website located at premierdesigns.com?

*there used to be a picture here, but Premier Designs asked me to take it down. Is there ANYONE who can send me some copyright free Premier Designs Jewelry photos? If so: thanks in advance!
Apparently they’ve been around in the US for over 22 years… Anyone can enlighten me? And what does the bible have to do with the jewelry? :D ;-)

  1. Jessi;

    I know exactly what you mean. Had the same response to my debut. Invited 65 and 5 showed. Unsettling to say the least. I did everything by the book, sent the hand-written invites, did follow-up calls 48 hrs. prior, stayed positive. Still couldn’t believe the low turn-out.

    It’s especially hard when you read again and again how someone’s debut was $2400 and 5000 bookings. They simply have no idea how it can be different. But can you imagine how we can encourage our future down line when they experience the same thing? We’ve been there. We’ve walked the walk.

    Shawn-Marie;

    The only way to know if the Purse Game is for you is to try it out. I really believed it would be the bees knees for me, and was really surprised how it seemed to continually break my flow. I’m sure it’s just me. You will probably have great success with it.

    Now, I sat down last night (show cancelled-so sad) and looked over my usual show outline and I still want to find a way to incorporate a least some of the Purse Game into it. We’ll see.

    As for your biz slowing (as well as your friend), I don’t have the answer except to say that every one of us experiences ebbs and flows. ’09 was an extremely slow year for me. I worked the phone and started booking to get it off the ground for ’10. Am very surprised at the number of cancellations/reschedules. But I am encouraged that I am hearing so many other jewelers experiencing the same thing. I guess it’s ebb time.

    Here’s my plan: I am going to keep working PD as if it was the height of the economy. With a strong work habit, you will eventually achieve success. I hope that doesn’t sound trite. I am sincere about this. I am old enough to have expereinced economic cycles. For instance, when I hear someone complain about the interest rate on their mortage, I remind them that with my and hubby and I both holding good full-time jobs and with excellent credit, we couldn’t get a loan for a home in the late 70′s to save our lives.

    We eventually got an owner carry-back for 9.25%!!!! And we thought we were lucky! So I’ve seen it and it doesn’t scare me so much any more.

    Oops, back to Jessi – this message keeps getting all turned around – don’t know why! Sorry

    But the incident only strengthened my resolve. I figured if I could do this without a lot of friends/family support, I would be O.K.

    Now, it’s very important to say that sometimes these things are just coincidental. I know there are times when we simply cannot attend an event for a very good reason.

    I went ahead with the show and got 2 bookings. From there I have worked to do 3-4 shows/mo. I realize that is not very many, but with a job and other family obligations, that is my limit.

    I you will determine to never leave a show w/o at least 2 bookings (crawl on glass and beg if you must!), you will be successful.

    Gosh, Ladies, I don’t know how this post got so chopped up. It literally broke itself up and it’s all over the place. yikes

  2. Josephine-if you’d like more info please feel free to email me and we can talk more about the opportunities and my experience so far with Premier.

  3. Premier Designs truly is a fabulous company! I have been in the business for almost a year, and am also a full time RN, but hopefully in August will be able to cut back to part time. My only problem area is paying attention to the details and my profit/loss for each show and how to keep all that info organized. I do have Hood and House which is great, but I don’t know how to truly utilize all of it. Any suggestions?? Also, this was the first time I was ont his blog…i love that it is all positive! To those comments about what to give for bookings…I have mainly used 3 of the charm bracelets that are 2.45 each on the incentive site…and i put 3 on the hostess at the beginning of the show and use it in my booking activity. The ladies LOVE these bracelets!! Sure, there have been cancellations and I have lost a few to that, but when I use those, my bookings are MUCH more than when I have tried using other things! Apparently, those bracelets are supported by our guarantee as well I heard…haven’t tried it yet though! Best of luck to you all!!

  4. ShawnMarie;

    Can you e-mail me? Not sure how to do that from here. Anyway, I’ve played the purse game. Didn’t work out so well for me. Getting mixed reviews from other jewelers.

    Anyway, I’d like to discuss Rally with you.

    thanks,
    Helen

  5. What happened to all the posts?????

  6. Does anyone know of any training available near Fresno, CA?

    Thanks!

  7. I’d like to know from anyone, how long does it take for you to set up? I’m at 40 minutes, but would like to shorten it a bit. I’m thinking of purchasing the 3 petite showcases from show cases to go, but want to get some feedback. Any word from anyone?

  8. Heather, Is this blog still being used?

  9. Hi ladies, I love Premier! Having trouble with bookings though. Surgery knocked me out of the game with recovery for nearly three weeks. I don’t have family in the country and it’s tough trying to figure where to go. I’m going to be hitting the pavement on Sat and Sun with bridal shops and Churches…any additional ideas?

  10. Hope to see you ladies at Rally. I’m with the Hunt family in the bay area and I think we’ll be wearing purple shirts! Love to meet you Helen….it would be nice to put a face to the name since you have been very helpful!

  11. Having a lot of fun with PD so far… Even though I’ve got my 9+ shows on my calendar for my quickstart (and have already done 4 of them) I feel like I want MORE. I want to have a busier calendar. I’m doing okay booking additional shows from the ones I’ve had, they just seem so far away to me. I wish that I could have scheduled more shows right at the beginning of my business, rather than a few weeks in…. Even a 2 show week seems very light. At least July should be a little bit busier!

    Helen – thanks for sharing! I love how supportive and genuine Premier jewelers are to each other. Your encouragement was terrific!

    Any advice on how I can help my hostesses have better turnouts? It seems like the summer months are really difficult. People are on vacation and lots of people are RSVPing that they already have plans or vacations scheduled. I have a show in one week that NOBODY has RSVPd ‘yes’ to yet. Yikes!

    :) Jessi

  12. Hi Daphne,

    Found your post today as I was getting back in touch with Premier Designs. I was an independent consultant for 7 years with Premier and LOVED the company and the jewelry. They are not as well known for a couple of reasons, they want to control their growth and stay debt-free as a company, and they want to control their costs so they can continue to provide the customers AND the distributors with the best compensation programs around.

    The Bible has to do with everything if you live by it. The founders started this company on biblical principles and it continues to serve the company well and impact lives. This company is more about touching individual lives and making a difference. That is one of the reasons you will not find a catalog online or pictures of their jewelry. It is important to the company that there is one-on-one interaction with every customer–therefore, to see the jewelry or a catalog requires a distributor to meet with a potential hostess or customer and give them quality, personal service.

    BOOKINGS- For those of you discussing what to do best to get bookings, allow me to share with you my experience. I tried everything over the 7 years I was a distributor. But in the end I found one thing to be the best thing AND I consistently had 8-10 shows a months, which is what I wanted. The one thing was: ASK. I asked EVERY SINGLE person as I was checking them out. I didn’t do games. I shared the hostess plan, showed MY average numbers for the last 4 shows so they could see real results–good or bad. Then I would show the average for the year and hold up pieces of jewelry equivalent to that amount to SHOW them how much that really was. It was RARE for me to not get 3 or more bookings a show.

    I left Premier after my best year there. It was just time for me to move on, but it was a fantastic experience and I loved it.

  13. Lily,

    Purple shirts? I’ll have on the blinking ring. You can’t miss me, especially in the dark!! I am so going to look for you!!

    Jessi;

    I totally hear you on the cancellations. I’ve had my share, lately. I am doing everything I’m trained to do. There’s nothing left to do except keep on keepin’ on. And I intend to do just that. Are you going to Rally? Only 16 more days!!

    Laura;

    I was so sad to read that you have quit. 7 years, that’s awesome! How could you walk away from all the lovely jewelry? That would be so hard. But I do understand about life changes, etc. But I’m sure your sister jewelers all miss you. We’d love to get your feedback on this blog. Someone who’s been there. Please stick around.

  14. Hi Jessi,

    This month was probably the first time that I experienced a party where no one showed up and another gal that cancelled on me for the 2nd time. She even called two hours before I was going to leave telling me that she has been so busy that she hasn’t thought about the party. I even spoke with her two days prior and she told me, “I guess” when I asked if she was ready for her show! I can only attribute it to the fact that the two hostesses did not follow up with their guests like I suggested. I find it hard to believe when they tell me that they invited 30 people and no one shows up, not even family. That tells me that they did not either 1. send out their invites or 2. did not follow up or make reminder calls. It surprises me that they would not even do these things when they are the ones that booked the party with me. I’ve had hostesses who were totally excited and had a successful party, but ones that are kind of “ho-hum” about it, end up with hardly any. I’m looking forward to July because I have 4 parties booked before and after Rally which is nice. However, I have nothing for August, but I’m hoping that will change. I had this one hostess ask me today (she’s also thinking about becoming a jeweler) if it was typical for lack of attendance because no one showed up for hers or another friend of hers that had 2 friends and 2 family members. I was kind of surprised at her question because I sent her an email reminder with a hostess wish list, I mailed her a reminder call to call her friends and I even left a few messages to touch base. She said she sent out 30 invites and only 4 people said they couldn’t make it. The other gal said she sent 60 invites and only one friend showed up, her mother and grandmother. Now what does that say? I can tell you that these two women were very slow in returning my calls, none responsive to my emails and was very hard to get them to close their show afterwards because they wouldn’t return my calls and kept putting it off till the next day. I asked if I could send out their invites to help save them time and stamp money, but they said they could do it themselves. I think maybe they are afraid of what I’d do with the addresses, which is nothing. I know I’m rambling, but because of this experience, I will make sure that my hostesses follow up with their friends. June was tough due to graduations, kids being out of school, etc. I hope the next few months will be better. I think having a fun theme will help bring more people. I’m going to try the Salsa & Sandals invite and adding a prize to the girl with the cutest sandals. I’m also offering to bring the chips and salsa! I hope it works!

  15. Hi, Lily;

    I think your recent experiences w/some hostesses is pretty typical. Seems to be happening to just about everyone these days. I don’t know why it’s happening. I would think that with the economy and people staying close to home (think stay-cations) the girls would love to get out and see some beautiful bling.

    Premier has a very generous hostess plan. With that being said, I would venture a guess that it’s even harder in other direct sales companies.

    I’m getting more reschedules than cancellations. I try really hard to re-book them; but if I get the brush off long enough, I move on. Now, I keep all their information for when I do a mystery hostesses/renewal show. I plan to invite them very sweetly b/c you never know, they may decide it’s the right time.

    I read somewhere that people are limited in their ability to get high quality reasonably priced jewelry without us. So true!!! I love this jewelry and am excited every time I do a show. No matter how someone acts at a show, I’m the jeweler. I’m going home with ALL the LOVELY JEWELRY, so the joke’s on them. And I still have all the lovely jewelry if they cancel. See? I win either way. Everyone wants to be us – they just don’t know it yet. hee hee

    Dear Laura;

    Awesome advice. I do some games and give out prizes, but I agree with you that we really can be just as successful w/o some of that. I may scale back that way, too.

    I have never done the ‘last 4 shows’ idea – never felt I did anything spectacular; but after reading what you did, I may just try it.

  16. Still wondering on how long it takes you gals to set up? I’m trying to limit my set up time and wondering what works. Petite cases, showcases, etc. I recently purchased 12 necklace holders for $5.00 and have set them up with jewelry so that I can just bring them out at a show. I keep them covered in a big tote bag with my other supplies. I also purchased the lap boards…finally! I was holding off until I made more money and they look very professional! My other folders starting missing, I guess my guests thought they could take them home. Why? I have no idea. I’m hoping that my next show will determine how long it will take me to set up. Good luck everyone!

    @Helen: Our family will be sporting these purple blouses, but I can’t remember what they say on them. I think it’ll be the entire Steele family and the Hunt family. I’ll look out for your ring!

  17. Hi, Lily;

    Will you be wearing the purple blouses every day? Wow. What jewelry will you wear with it? I’d love to know! I think I’m only taking one set of jewelry b/c ***drum roll*** I bought the half-line! Yikes! I’m scared. I have the $ to pay for it, but it is still scary.

    If we can meet, I’d be happy to open it up with you – depends on which hotel you are in. I’m at the Crown Plaza Suites in Arlington. 15 miles out – such a bummer, but it’s the best I could do. I only waited 24 hrs. from the start of registration. I’ll never do that again!

    I signed up for the Rally bus that takes us from the airport to our hotels. $25 bucks was a great deal. In ’08 it cost me $44 one way from my hotel back to the airport. But I didn’t sign up for the buffet on Wednesday – I forgot. I so wanted to do that.

    Can you e-mail me so we can discuss rally? I don’t know how to do that from here w/o revealing personal info???

    O.K., set up time. Takes me about 30 min. or less. Here’s what I’ve learned after much pain. I no longer take the jewelry out of the flocked divider trays that fit into the 1″ trays. I just put out the trays, open my show cases, hang a few neclaces from the corners of the show cases to soften the corners. Done. Usually my hostesses love to pull a few things and lay them around. I encourage them to do that. Who knows, maybe they’ll fall in love with it and want to sell it.

    As far as no one showing up at the show. That is such a bummer. I’m betting they will cover this at rally. It’s a concern for everyone. I can’t wait to hear what they will suggest. Keep your chin up and know that you are not alone.

    Lina;

    Where are you? HOpe you are healing from your surgery. Let’s talk about getting bookings. I beg and crawl on glass when necessary.

    Jessi;

    Our job is to help our hostesses get as many guests to her show as possible. I think I have not done a very good job at that and am not sure what else to do. Hoping to get more insight at Rally. Stay in touch.
    Then I take my bag (a scrapbooking tote I got at Michael’s) over to a table or wherever and set out my host. packettes, opp pkts., calculator, pens, etc. I keep the catalogs near my feet when I do the modeling. I don’t give them out until I am done; otherwise they have their heads down looking at the jewelry.

  18. My above post got chopped up. Don’t know what happened.

  19. Hi Helen!

    I think we’ll just be wearing the purple shirts on Wednesday evening. I’m not even sure which jewelry I’ll wear since I haven’t seen them. Maybe Secret Garden or Runway or Rhapsody. There are so many to choose from! :) There are about 3 or 4 of us that will be staying at the Embassy Suites. My cousin (real cousin) and I will be arriving around the same time at the airport and will share a cab since we didn’t do the shuttle. I dropped the ball on that one. We’re staying till Sunday afternoon as well. Her and I were talking about splitting the half-line and kind of going through what we want and what we’d wear. We share different tastes, so hopefull we won’t fight over any pieces! I was thrilled to get an email regarding how much jewelry I can purchase via the awards promotion! Whahoooo!!!!
    Feel free to email me at lillythejeweler@yahoo.com.

  20. Lilly,

    it typically takes me 1/2 hour to set up. i want people to see how easy it is to set up and tear down-knowing they can easily replicate it if they were to be a jeweler. I make one trip from car to house-purchased the rolling case from Premier Incentives and have all my jewelry trays in there. In the burgundy case that came with the President’s Package I have my neckboards, hostess packets (for that night’s new bookings), my catalogs, a small case with prizes for the purse game, and a small hand held caddy (target has a great one by Real Simple) in the caddy I have pens, order forms, calculator, raffle tickets, survey cards. My black velvet table cloth is folded and fits on top of the rolling case. I do take all my jewelry out of the trays and only use about 6 neckboards for some height. Sometimes, I will get the hostess involved in setting out jewelry or a guest who has arrived early. They love to help.

    I don’t use the folders or lap boards for guests. I lay my catalogs around the room and have the pens and order forms easily accessable. At least here in San Diego, my ladies don’t want to all sit down for a presentation so I have really had to adapt things to fit the lifestyle here. A lot of times guests come and go throughout the evening so I have found that I only need to do the purse game if the crowd is a bit more reserved and small. But usually I just have a lot of personal conversations that allow me to cover hosting benefits, guarantee, bookings, etc.

    Also, the charm ring on P.I. has been a huge hit with my hostesses as their hostess gift. At my last show, when I put it on the hostess she cheered that she was in the club now. The rings are super popular and a great conversation piece. Check them out.

  21. Hi, Tracy;

    Great info! I use the scrapbooking caddy (for host. pkts., opp. pkts., gift boxes (for when retired jewelry sells off the table), PD thin gift bags (to put the gift boxes and receipt inside – very professional, bus. bag w/calc. and pens inside, extra order forms and guest surveys. I got the caddy at Michael’s.

    My rolling cart holds: 2 show cases, sturdy gift bag filled with the mini-purses I use for the booking activity, bag with tickets/marker and name tags, show binder (in that I have typed out my show outline – so I don’t forget anything – game sheets, invite flyers, all jewelry lists by category, fact sheets about jewelry in general, opp. 2+2+2 sheets, etc. On top of that I balance the above caddy. So when I walk in I pull the rolling card with my mini-case balanced on top, while carrying the purple bag of jewelry (it’s quite heavy) and my tote filled with 12 catalogs (inside each catalog is an order form and guest survey) and pens – it’s heavy, too. I usually have to make 2 trips. Wish I could figure out how to do just one.

    I pretty much stick to the suggested show outline for presentation. I ask the ladies to grab a seat so we can get started. I promise them I will be brief so they can attack my table. And then I really fly thru it. I keep my combos down to 6 (pearls, silver, gold, hot colors, Diva set, and whatever my fave is at the time. I show all the ways to wear each combo. I tell them that if they can come up with a new combo on the spot, I’ll name it after them. They love it!

    Hey, have any of you seen some of the new stuff on PD Incentives? I l ordered the new pink stainless steel water bottle. It says: I don’t exercise. If God wanted me to bend over, He would have put diamonds on the ground! Too fun. I will use it as a special hostess incentive , or maybe I’ll just keep it.!

  22. Tracey;

    One more thing: I tried to find the ‘charm ring’ on PDI. There were 3 or 4 different rings that could qualify. Which one were you referring to?

  23. Hey,
    I just wanted to say i went to a premier party hosted by a friend a couple days ago and had a great time. I loved playing the purse game, it was tons of fun. Everyone is so competitive to get the first item out. We all laughed and joked around and took pictures and had a great time. I am actually hosting my own party in 2 weeks and I’m very excited about it. I have to say premier is a great company based on good customer service and god. You just don’t find that much anymore.

  24. Hi, Jordan;

    Thank you for your kind comments. They really are appreciated. Some day you may want to be a jeweler, too!!

    We work very hard, but we have a blast. And we learn so much from each other on this blog.

    Most of the jewelers here seem to be working bigger businesses than me; but I’m O.K. with that. That’s what’s great about Premier – you can do a little or a lot – OR – change it around any time you want.

    I love to hear how these women work out the details. Hope you’ll join us!

  25. Hi Helen,

    The charm ring I use for hostess gifts is the PD stretch ring for $2.45. It is listed under the heading: Rings, T-rings, Anklets. Seriously, I have had such success with it. I have purchased some for my new jewelers to give their hostesses.

    It seems like maybe you could do without some of what you take to shows so that you can get everything in one trip. In my burgundy bag I have 3 hostess packets for shows I book at a show, my prize box, my caddy, and my catalogs for show guests to browse through. I don’t bring enough for every guest-they are so heavy. I have 6 that I have in “report covers” I found at Office Depot. Also, I lay out flyers with my business card attached to it-they list out my 10 most recent shows with the hostess earnings and my earnings. This has been a great conversation piece with future hostesses and those who may be considering the business.

    It sounds like you are very organized. I’ve read your past posts and you are so encouraging to other jewelers. I love how we all are so eager to help each other. Do you have any ideas in moving the retired pieces you have?

  26. Lilly;

    Have you called for hotel and airline conf. yet? I’m doing all that today. Also, don’t forget to confirm that they hotel has a blowdryer. I do not want to lug mine all the the way to TX. Trying to lighten my suitcase as much as possible as I only allow myself one checked bag.

    We are wearing pink on Wed. (I think everyone is) and red, white, & blue on Sat. That will have to be jewelrly for me.

    Hey, good news. I had a lady call me yesterday and order 2 neclaces. She saw the neclaces on one of my customers. Yeah. I’ts so great to get an order like that. Serendipity, baby.

    O.K., baby getting up. Must run. Can’t wait to meet you at Rally!!!

  27. Hello – I’m a new jeweler and VERY excited about this new adventure! Like some other people, my friends are ignoring correspondence about Premier and my training show. One of them even cancelled a show. It seems that the phone or in-person “asks” are way more effective than email. My family and best friend who live in a different state are hosting shows, but as yet I have no shows booked where I live (and I’ve invited 60 people to my show). MIL even pushed off on hosting. I’m not going to take this personally – want to stay positive! I truly think that people don’t know how awesome Premier is and that I WANT to provide them with free jewelry!

  28. Hi Kristen,

    Try making your party a theme party or offer an incentive if no one is responding. How about Patio and Fashions Jewelry Show? Do your show in your patio and provide virgin margaritas, chips and salsa. Or Jeans and Jewelry. That way people know it’s casual and fun. You can add a “thank you” gift for each person that attends on your invite and/or “each person will be entered to win a beautiful” necklace. Maybe ask your “mom” if she has a retired piece that she can sell you and you can offer that as a gift for the raffle. For the thank you gifts that I do at every show, I purchased these 2×3 jewelry totes from robertham.com for $5.35 a dozen! They love them! I tell them that this is for when they are traveling and don’t want to place them in a zip lock bag. Hopefully this will help. Good luck!

    @Helen: I just found out that we will be sitting at the Draper Section and each person will have those purple shirts I mentioned earlier. Looking forward to meeting you too!!!!

  29. Tracey;

    I like your idea of not taking 12-15 customer catalogs – they truly are very heavy. Can’t believe I’ve never thought of that.

    I wonder if they’ll cover that at Rally.

    Will have to dash back over to PDI to get those rings. And I’ve simply got to do the 10 most recent shows flyer. That’s just groovy, man!!!

    You are right that my load is too heavy, but I am working to lighten it (guess more jewelry won’t help, huh?) Argh!!!

    O.K. retired jewelry. I know there are lots of suggested ways to move it, but for now, I am just selling it off the table at 50% off. No restrictions i.e. they don’t have to buy anything at retail to qualify. I realize that may not work for everyone, but since I pre-ordered the 1/2 line to p/u at Rally, I had to move it quickly.

    When I feel I have gotten rid of enough of the retired stuff, I will go back to my usual 1:1. Buy one at retail, buy any retired (Limited Edition) at 1/2. If I really needed to make this more profitable, I would counsel upline for more business-like ideas.

    Kristen;

    Welcome to the site and congrats! Don’t you just love this jewelry? Don’t fret about your struggles. Look at my above posts and you will find I faced very similar circumstances.

    You will prevail if you don’t give up. Just keep asking, asking, asking. Sweeten the pot if you must. And then ask again. I promise, once they see they jewelry, they are goners. Take your jewelry to a restuarant with a friend and tag it. The waitresses can’t resist. Be prepared with mini-catalogs (I never give out catalogs – you rarely get anywhere that way), hostess packette, bus. card, etc. You nevah’ know!

    Are you going to Rally? We could meet. I’m going to try to hook up with Lilly from this blog. It should be fun.

  30. Lilly;

    Gosh, great ideas. You sound so professional and pulled together. I’m dashing over to check out the thank you jewelry bags. Those sound darling.

    I’m using the glittered mini-purses for my booking activity. Anyone else using those? I may change them to the velveteen bags on PD incentives for a while just to spice it up a bit. I’d like to have about 5-6 different items for booking and rotate them. Want to see what I can get at Rally – you just know they are going to have some cutesy stuff.

    Ladies – question. I try to buy everything I need from the PD site or PD incentives cuz’ I want the card points. Do you all do this, too?

  31. Lilly and Helen – Thank you so much for the encouragement! I am feeling pretty good about my training show. I have 6 necklaces from the current line to offer as booking incentives (former “Christmas gifts” that I’m now using for bookings) and a Nordies gift card to get people in the door. What I’m getting hung up on is getting the 5-6 shows booked before the training show to qualify for Quick Start. We’ll be hitting up my husband’s family later this week – praying for success! :)

    Lilly – I’m not going to rally but kinda wish I was cause I need the encouragement! I’m listening to all of the training I can get my hands on right now – very helpful. Question – Do you offer thank you gifts to everyone who attends a show or just people that bring a friend, etc.

    Helen – I was soooo encouraged to read your previous posts. I think they were a gift from God! All I had previously heard was ladies with huge retail and 1000 guests at their show. I truly appreciated your honesty and sense of humor about it.

    Thanks ladies! So glad I found this board!!

  32. Oops – meant to respond to Helen about rally. Hope you guys have fun meeting each other.

    And yes, I love the jewelry! Getting fun response from salespeople about the necklaces I’m wearing. I need to figure out the transition from “I love your necklace” to “Do you want to host a show?”. Even telling them that the jewelry is from the line I sell seems to put people off. :) Still learning!

  33. Hey everyone! I’m so excited about RALLY!!!! I would love to meet up at some point too! I didn’t order the dinner Wednesday evening either so maybe we could meet up then Helen! My email is shawnmariesjewelry@yahoo.com

  34. I just got my jeweler’s number today! I am so excited. Wish I was going to the rally but alas, I cannot. Say a prayer for me. My training show is on July 29. I will take all the advice I can get. My “mom” is awesome.

  35. Question for new jewelers: Are you doing the purse game? I can’t decide if I want to start my business with it or not. I enjoyed playing the purse game as a show guest – but if it adds extra time and doesn’t necessarily encourage bookings – is it worth it? I appreciate your thoughts.

  36. Wow, got the new catalogs today! Already went through with post-its to mark what I want to add to my sample collection. Beware-I noticed price increases by $1-$2 on some existing pieces. Now I need to print new labels and re-price my samples. Some of the new pieces are awesome!!!! I love Bauble On and Glam Slam-have to get those. Didn’t get to go to rally but am anxious to hear about combos and other business tips. If any of you want to share-please post.

  37. I have been looking around at different direct sales jewelry companies. I would like to begin selling, but not sure which company will be best for me. Any pros and cons that you can tell me about Premier? Please explain the quality of the jewelry. Thank you.

  38. Hi, Everyone;

    How did you like Rally? Intense, huh? It was fun and they put on one heck of a show. The jewelry is gorgeous, of course. Now, to put together the new combos.

  39. Hi everyone,

    I am so new to PD. I just signed up in June ’10. Also just had my 3rd and final baby in May….Busy busy. I had never been to a PD show until April of this year. my BFF had one and I instantly wanted every piece in the catalog. lol I then attended my sisters show late april, saw how uncomfortable the jewelry lady was and said man if she could get up there and do this I know i totally could. So i phoned my BFF;s jewelry lady and we had coffee….next thing i knew I was chatting with my fiance and we decided it seemed like the right thing to do. So here I am. I had my TS and invited well over 40 people….did the hostess coaching and wal-lah had 14 people show up….thought sweet i have it in the bag, good show and good profits….Boy was i wrong, after closing out my show which was only $360 and that was after i chose my half price things, and NO BOOKINGS. I felt like a complete idiot. lol I talked my sister into hosting yet another show, but she can’t until october….so for now im bugging my friends, they say no I just move on. Im in the mode of getting a yes here some time soon. Even one of my friends that did not make my TS said she would host a show and she has had to reschedule….said she would only have 1 other person show up if we didnt reschedule….

    I plan on canvasing my neighborhood and posting fliers as well on our community mailboxes….Im not giving up.

    I found this blog by googling….and I am attending my first training meeting with my family this coming monday!!!!

  40. Id love a catalogue…L. Hale

  41. Wow, I am behind on reading these past posts! @ Helen: So sorry we didn’t meet up at Rally. 9300 women!!!! I’m glad we have this blog though! I use my Premier card for everything! I’ve already used my reward points for past and current catalogs! I know some jewelers have even used them for rally hotels and such.

    I’ve also been handing out “thank you” gifts to everyone that attends, not just for bringing a friend. I think if someone walks out with a little something even if they didn’t win a raffle, then they’ll be happy. I started doing the purse game and so far,I like it. It keeps me on track so that I don’t forget anything. Because of this, I was able to get a jeweler who thought it was easy to do, plus she loved the jewelry. I just mailed her application to Premier today! She has 5 kids, so I know she’ll enjoy the adult time as well.

    I have training on Monday and was asked to talk about a business tool that I learned at Rally and how I plan on implementing it to my biz. I plan on talking about Kathy Allen’s marketing plan. You can find it at the Draper website. It’s short, sweet and to the point. I used it while I was on the phone with a woman who is interested in Premier. I hate talking in front of big groups, so I hope I don’t talk too fast!

    @Laura. I’m really sorry about your training show. I too had 14 guests, but my outcome was very different than yours which happens. I’m glad it didn’t deter you from the business. This will only make you determined to continue because every show is different. I think your idea about visting your neighbors is a great idea. You might also want to ask your hair stylist about doing an open house at their salon or have your husband host a show! I did that last December. He was the host, and he invited his friends over for Hockey, Pizza and Xmas shopping. They picked out gifts for their wives and girlfriends, had pizza, watched the Sharks game and I placed the orders. I then wrapped each gift, called them up and told them their jewelry was ready. Maybe your husband’s friend’s wives will host a show for you?

    Good luck everyone!

  42. Linda … I just got into Premier and I love it. I saw you are looking at different direct sales companies .. I would love to share with you a bit about Premier and why I chose to do it. You can email me at indiasaige@gmail.com … Would you like me to send you a catalog and the incentive jeweler booklet?

  43. Linda … I put a catalog and an explanation sheet of the jeweler benefits and being part of the Premier team in with it … I will mail it out tomorrow. I put my contact info in there and if you have questions .. please call me. I will go through it with you and if you decide to join, I would love to come to KY and do your training show for you.

  44. ShawnMarie;

    How did you like Rally? I enjoyed it but my hotel was qute a distance away so I was on the bus a lot. I’ll e-mail you later..

    Tracey Bell;

    Rally was fun and the new jewelry is gorgeous. Can’t wait for training to see the new combos.

  45. Premier Designs Jewelry, is nothing more than cheap chinese crap, fake, plated, will turn your neck green. I had the misfortune of being invited to one of these parties, by a so-called friend (tonight), I should have known, since she didn’t invite me to her wedding, but she invited me over to her mother’s house to try and have some gypsy con-artist take my money!! Watch out people, if you think your going to be there for a 1/2 hour, better get ready for a long night. I sat and listened to this crap, for way too long. I felt bad, thinking of walking out with out buying anything, but now I feel worse after spending any amount of my very hard earned cash on this junk. Luckily, I had read someone elses post on here, about the discontinued items (equated to 50% off!!) … They try to get you to use the form, the one that you can get stuff by mail. The lady charged me for “shipping”, even though I was standing right there and bought somethng out of her stash on the spot. This was in addition to the tax! I will be turning her in for fraud, because I suppose she won’t be reporting my cash “donation” to the IRS anytime this century!! As far as the girl who invited me? Yeah, she will not get so much as even a nod from me when I see her around, to the curb biyottchh.

  46. Tracey Bell;

    I preordered the half-line (got the color box instead of the metal box, which is what I would have preferred – don’t think there was a choice) so I separated out what I didn’t like and sold it all off at Rally.

    You can watch all of the Rally training notes on combos, etc. on the Premier site. I watch them often and they are really good.

    Also the Draper, Terrell, and Pfahl websites have an incredible array of training info you can print out and study. I go there several times every day.Have you gotten the Tandy combos yet from your upline? I don’t know her but her combos are ‘da bomb!’

    At this point I am selling all of my retired pieces at half price – no restirctions. As I said earlier, I must get them off my table. I am now also pulling three pieces per show to use as my game prizes: 1 for on-time drawing, 1 for whatever game we play – usually the ‘pass-the-gift’ game, and 1 for the guest survey drawing at the end. I realize this is very expensive, but I feel I have gotten my use out of them (both wearing and displaying) and they’ve got to go. This method will not be permanant. Still have 24 pcs. to go.

    Ladies, everyone has to decide what they can afford to give away (if anything) at their shows. My give-a-ways change all the time. I want to unload the retired pcs. and get thru all my usual game prizes. Then I may go to always using Premier pcs. for prizes: i.e. Woodstock E, Carly E, Trophy N, Blanca Br., etc. I will say, however, that since I temporarily quit giving the tennis bracelets as hostess incentives, my shows reschedule more often. Coincidence? Maybe.

    Kristen;

    Do not be discouraged. Many of us have experienced seemingly low-shows or times when it seems like no one wants to have a show. They do want free jewelry, tho. If someone is hestitant about being a hostess, I gently remind them of how great they will look in all that free jewelry. It doesn’t always work, but I’ve got to try. I would suggest training. Get there as often as you can. I’ve been neglecting that, lately, and it shows. It’s like anything else, the hardest part is getting into the car. Once you are there, you get energized by the other jewelers.

    Also, Kristen, be careful about giving too much away. The neclaces sound wonderful, but be sure you can be duplicatable to your future down-line. I think as women, we are naturally generous- sometimes to a fault. But at some point we need to realize a profit. No, I’m not there, yet, but this year I am dedicating to being more organized, business-like, and goal focused. That’s what Rally did for me. I’m already breaking down the numbers to have the cash to go to Regionals in the Spring and Rally next July, oh, and renewal fee. I think I’ll need about $2500? That comes out to about $7 a day. My show average is $400 so I need to do about 15 shows to realize the profit to make these events. I can do it.

    Now, I am also looking for ways to lower that number (driving vs. flying, etc.) I really do want to be a better business woman. I must get the Hood-n-House program to truly track my numbers. Shame on me for putting that off. And, no, I do not offer a gift to everyone who attends. I might offer that at my renewal show. It’s just too expensive. for me although Tracey explains how you might incorporate that idea to kick-start your business. I would ask your upline to help you map out a plan.

    I tried the purse game for a while, but it seemed to break my flow. Not sure why. I need to attend the show of a jeweler who is successful with it to see where I could improve.

    Laura H.,

    Hang in there. I don’t know why some have so much seemingly instant success when they start – I had a slow start. My training show had low sales, but I did get 2 bookings which I knew were the seeds of my biz so I really took extra care to nuture them to fruition. Right now I seem to be in a slow time. Disappointing after coming out of Rally. I figured everyone would want to see the new jewelry and hear about Rally. Gosh, aren’t they as excited as me? lol

  47. Linda ~ Has anyone contacted you about sending a catalog or answered your questions? I would be happy to do both if you still need it. My email is premier.girl@yahoo.com, just let me know!

  48. Hello ladies, My wife and I have been with PD for a little over a year now and I just want to encourage each and every one of you to keep working your business! It’s hard to stay possitive all of the time in anything you do. There are some people that stay positive about everything then there are the majority of us that get discouraged. It’s a normal thing and it happens in every business! I work for a company that’s been in business over 25 years and we have people cancel every week!

    The general rule of thumb is that 1 in 10 people you ask will book a show! The same is pretty much true for invites to shows as well! You’ve got to get out of your comfort zone and meet people! At the mall, grocery store, resteraunts, school functions, doctors offices, any where there’s a person with a pulse there’s a potential customer! Look for craft shows and set up a booth displaying your jewelry! Remember you can make individual sales too! Be excited about what you have to offer and it will get them excited too!

    My wife moved to NC from California so she didn’t have a lot of people here to do shows for her she had to go out and meet some people to make it happen! She just came back from Rally where she walked for Crown Jewel, Home Show Club and Builder! I’m happy to say we have almost 10 shows booked for August and several shows booked into Dec.

    This business is no different than any other, you get out of it what you put into it! Each and everyone of you is special and you can do it! Just don’t give up! Most of all don’t let other pepole discourge you!

    May God bless eavh and everyone of you and your businesses!

  49. What works best for you and why to model the jewelry during your fashion presentation?
    Using Mandy (don’t have one)
    Using guests for models–do you let them decdie what to put on or do you pick something out for them -how do you come up with what goes best with there outfit?
    Using shirts w/hangers

  50. To disgruntledpostalworkernot
    Of course everyone has a right to their own opinion and sorry that you feel you got “conned” into paying the shipping fee for the discounted sales. However, this blog, I feel are for present and future jewelers looking for POSITIVE feedback. If you have an issue with your jeweler, you should contact the hostess directly or the jeweler.
