Plastic Fantastic or Condom Fashion

Look closer. These items are made from condoms. Hundreds and hundreds of condoms. Today, a fashion show in Beijing will see these and other safe-sex creations storming down the runway.

The event is part of the China Reproductive Health New Technologies and Products Expo (phew, that’s a long translation) organized by China’s biggest condom manufacturer – Guilin Latex Factory. It also happens to coincide with World Population Day.

The kooky, yet very creative event also sought to raise AIDS awareness in a country where stigma still reigns. Personally, I’m wondering if you could inflate the bikini and double it as a flotation device?
