Monique Lhuillier Spring 2008 Ready To Wear
Posted: 5/27/08We’ve already shown you the Monique Lhuillier Fall/Winter 2008-2009 – today, the spring RTW!
Monique Lhullier’s spring collection was the stuff a modern-day princess’s dreams are made of –ruffly fluffy confections reminiscent of her inspiration – Laduree Macaroons from the famous patisserie on the Champs Elysee in Paris.
She represented the usual spring trends, against the runway’s backdrop of painted porcelain flowers. The first part of the show was a study in sugary femininity. Multi-layered silk tulle, organza, taffeta and chiffon frocks and draped gowns, with high waistbands and corset-detail, in a creamy palette of vanilla, mint, latte, pistachio, and butterscotch (like the Macaroons they were inspired by.) The latter half featured a more muted palette of dusty blues, greys, black and white, in fluid silk-jersey dresses with simpler, leaner lines.
Lhuillier’s collection, like many others this season, is all about embracing and celebrating femininity by accentuating curves with softly draped designs. Unforgettable pieces include a floor-length seafoam silk mousseline chiffon strapless draped gown with handkerchief hem; an assymetrically draped cocktail length dress in nude silk mousseline; and a grey silk charmeuse strapless draped gown with embroidered centre front.
Lhullier is particularly favored at red carpet events because of the uncomplicated elegance of her designs. Ruffled girly fluff her confections may be, they remain wearable; creative but timeless. Though she is known mostly for her luxe bridal gowns (she designed Britney Spears’ wedding gown,) Lhuillier is making a name for herself in beautiful occasion-wear.

Monique Llhuillier never fails to make breath-taking dresses. My sister is getting married this June and as a perfect wedding gift for her I bought her a pair of stunning pearl diamond drop earrings from premiumpearls.com. A friend referred me to the website and it was absolutely great. They even had a pearl buying guide so you can find the best color to flatter your skin tone. The collection of jewelry surely suits any occasion and the quality is unbelievable.
