Mariah Carey Fragrance
Posted: 6/14/08Pop superstar Mariah Carey’s signature fragrance “M” (created in collaboration with Elizabeth Arden) earned a nomination in the Women’s Luxe category for this year’s Fragrance of the Year Awards. The Fragrance Foundation holds the annual awards ceremony, dubbed the “FiFi”, said to be the “Oscars” of the fragrance world, to honor the fragrance industry’s achievements.
‘M’ which was released late last year, is described as light, sensual and memorable, containing fragrance notes of some of Mariah’s own favorite things. The fragrance, inspired the iconic singer herself, contains hints of gardenia, Living Tahitian tiare, Moroccan incense, patchouli flower, amber, and a top-note of toasted marshmallows (which the singer purportedly requested herself because it calls to mind all the good things about being young.) The original fragrance came in a purple bottle, with Mariah’s signature butterfly on the stopper. It was recently reissued in a limited deluxe ‘Gold’ edition; with the fragrance packaged in collector’s version of the bottle recast in gold.

Mariah Carey’s first fragrance venture debuted to mixed reviews. I was given a small sample of ‘M’ and found myself pleasantly surprised. I’m not a big fan of purple (or Mariah, to be honest) so I was expecting something just short of loud and overwhelming. Instead I was greeted with a light sweet-floral scent. Not bad at all for the singer’s first fragrance venture — but nothing amazing eather. Fingers crossed there’s no Mariah Carey lingerie on the way! :D
