Lia Sophia Jewelry Parties
Posted: 1/6/07We’ve been getting great responses on the Lia Sophia jewelry post we made some time ago. Great! Thing is, it hasn’t all been positive… The problems Kelli has had are a serious issue….
I’m currently writing an article on Lia Sophia for the magazine, and it seems like not too many people have reported these issues… Anyone know whether or not they have been resolved?
Anyways, the parties are half the fun… I can’t wait ’till my next one :D

I bought two rings last summer from a lia sophia party. They are both defective turned my daughters finger green and the ring looks like copper instead of silver. My other daughters ring the silver is coming off. I think ithey were aroung 35.00 ea not cheap… I actually haven”t contacted them about this yet. I do know they wnt a copy of the receipt. I am not a receipt keeper so I hope this gets resolved. I wonder if any one else has had the same problem?
1/8/07 at 3:07 amI’m curious to see whether or not many people have had such experiences…. I’m going to e-mail some friends who were at these parties…. Gimmie some time, i’ll keep you posted!
1/8/07 at 2:53 pmThe only time that I’ve had my finger turn “green” from rings, regardless of where I’ve purchased them, has been from any lotion residue that has been left on the rings after time. I’ve had the problem once with a gold ring from Lia Sophia that I wear all of the time. Since I cleaned the ring with a jewelry cleaner and started taking my rings off when I put lotion on, I haven’t had this issue. I have purchased rings and jewelry from other stores for around the same prices that Lia Sophia sells and I’ve been really satisfied with the quality that Lia Sophia has versus what I can get at some of the other stores in my area.
1/9/07 at 10:37 pmI am lia sophia advisor.
Another trick to keep from turning green is put clear nail polish on the inside of the ring. This happens because of your body chemistry. I have had customers tell me that jewelry turns them green around the time of their period and when they eat spicy food.
You need the shipment number if you still want to return the rings. The reason lia sophia has gotten strict on this is because of Ebay. If you buy an item on Ebay, the lifetime warranty no longer is valid. To get the shipment number, contact the advisor who did the show. If you don’t remember who it was, contact the hostess. Most likely the hostess will know.
I hope this helps!!!
1/11/07 at 11:31 pmKeep it coming ladies, this is turning out to be very interesting!
1/12/07 at 12:51 pmI used to work in a fine jewelry store. We did not sell anything other than gold, platinum, sterling, etc… In other words, no costume jewelry. We also had problems with green or black residue. Different metals or materials react differently with body chemistry or lotion or make up. It does not mean that things are “cheap.” The clear fingernail polish does work, we had some clients that used it on genuine metals. I am considering becoming a Lia Sophia advisor. I have always loved jewelry and I find their products to be extremely nice for the price AND the deals are great!
2/4/07 at 5:10 amI have tons of Lia Sophia jewelry, however I have not bought a ring yet. I love everything I bought from them and I wear it all the time. I get a lot of compliments on it at work and there are now about 9 other ladies that buy also. They all love it, I have heard nothing negative yet.
2/10/07 at 2:05 amI am also a lia sophia Advisor…lol one who never wore jewelry, saw the book, fell in love and now am loving what I do and am making some awesome $$!
The comments about body chemistry and spicey foods is right n the mark. Clean the rings well, clear coat polish the indsides and wear with success! Takingthem off while lotioning is also a great idea!
Another tip…put your fragrance and hair spray on before you put your jewelry on!
And …put a piece of chalk in with your jewelry to help keep the pieces tarnish free. A soft jewelry cloth from Wmart is a great tool to clean up after each wearing..will definitely keep the spakle going!
To those of you interested, go for the Opportunity! It’s only $149 and you get a great starter kit with over $1000 worth of jewelry in it! for more info you can visit me online at

Have an awesome life!
2/15/07 at 1:18 amI am just starting to sell the jewelery. I love it. It is so pretty and really inexpensive. It really makes you look like a million bucks. I can’t wait to get started with my new hobby/career.

Problems! here you go. Over two months ago I sent in a return from a party. The two particular items had broken. It took 6 weeks for the items to be logged into thier system. So every week I had to call and get an update. When it was finally in thier system I asked is the order OK the cs rep said “Yes, you should get your items by the end of next week.” A week came and went I called back. The person said that there was a data entry error she would fix and I should get my items by the end of the week. Another week passes and I call. This time the items are with returns ( a differnt building) and they transfer me over. I get a voicmail saying to leave only my name and number. they will get back to me in 3 days. 3 days come and since I work during the day I get a voicmail to call back. When I call, guess what leave only my name and number and wait another 3 days. So frustrated with this returns limbo, I call CS service again. Sorry they can only transfer me to her voicemail. I call the operator. She can transfer me to her voicemail (very helpful). I asked if there is anyone else in returns I can talk to she says yes who would you like to talk to? she can only transfer me to someone who I know.
I will never order from Lia Sophia again
4/27/07 at 10:06 pmJennifer, I am so sorry to hear that you had such issues. IT would have driven me crazy! Please know that what happened is truly the exception not the rule. lia has return/exchanges down to about 2-3 turn around. They revamped this dept and added many more handlers and updated the whole system.
It truly sounds like you hit Murphey’s Law with your return..everything that could go wrong/delay/frustrate did!!
If you leave me your email I will send you a certificate …it won’t change what you experienced but it might give you a more positive memory of lia sophia.

I’m thinking about selling jewelry and was wondering if anyone knows the difference between the quality of Lia Sophia vs. Premier Design jewelry? I think Premier Design offers a 50% sales commission, which is 20% higher than Lia Sophia….just curious if there is anything else I’m missing.
5/23/07 at 12:12 am[...] I had never ever heard of the Premier Designs jewelry company until today, when one of our readers posted a comment on a previous article about Lia Sophia. Does anyone have more information about this, other than that they have a pretty small website [...]
5/23/07 at 2:34 amReese – I just started with lia sophia, but I have been to a Premier Party too. First, the lia sophia jewelry definitely caught my eye (more than Premier did). But that is just based on my own fashion tastes. I did a Starter Show for a new recruit last week & one of her friends that booked a party said her sister sells Premier but is thinking about quitting. She said the reason was b/c her sister is doing a lot of returns (both companies offer a Lifetime Replacement Guarantee) for Shows that she did almost a year ago & it’s really stressing her out. Plus, Premier’s Lifetime Replacement Guarantee does not cover normal wear & tear…lia sophia’s LRG lets you return the item even if you don’t like it!
5/31/07 at 6:25 amI have a question and dont know who to ask.. I am having a Lia Sophia party and the salesperson told me what she usually does with her hostesses is let them pick out a piece worth $100 or less, as the hostess gift. I know nothing about how the gifts work, but I did see from the front of the Lia Sophia book, it looks like I would be getting a lot more than a $100 value if I were to go the traditional hostess route w/percentages off of sales and the hostess specials, etc.. Does anyone have an opinion ? thanks for your help. TracieB@Bethelwell.com
6/5/07 at 6:43 pmI was very enthusiastic about Lia Sophia, my friend went into the business and I have been going to the shows. I have done two shows for her. The jewerly is great, the quality is the best. But now that I know how the business works I will say that unless you have a show of $1000.00 that you can earn $300.00 (that would be 30%) is not worth it. Because you have to take in account that you buy books, invitations, gifts to give the hostess and yes there are at a very low costs but still you have to buy it. Include the gasoline to get to the shows. Also you always have to buy jewerly from, at 1/2 off or buy a piece from 100.00 or less for $15.00. But what if you don’t buy the jewerly than hostess doesn’t get their credits which they will also use to buy jewerly. Another thing is that the kit in which you have to earn by selling $650.00 there not the most popular ones, you then need to buy more jewerly to keep the kit updated. One thing I will add I wish the prices were more affordable, not everybody has $70.00 or %80.00 dollars for a piece of jewerly, even with the buy 2 at regular price and the 3rd is 1/2 half you still end up paying about $70.00 to $90.00.
6/6/07 at 1:33 amTracy,
6/9/07 at 7:11 pmI am an advisor and this extra piece that the advisor is offering you is in addition to the regular hostess perks that the company offers. You will get the piece she is offering the day of your show. Once your show is completed and has $250 in sales you will get 4 items for the hostess price, 20% of the show in FREE jewelry, 2 items for 1/2 price. If you get 10 orders and 2 bookings you can pay $15 to increase the jewelry credits from 20% to 40% of the sales. You will also have the option to purchase a hostess only item with qualifying sales and an additional 1/2 price item at each show booked from yours.
I just came upon this site today and think it’s great. There are alot of great responses and replies and I just wanted to add in a couple of comments… I am an advisor with lia sophia. I have been with the company just over a year now and am at the Divison Manager level. The post Jennifer Spooner made in regards to her returns sound like they came when our company was in transition of moving to a new distribution center. Unfortunatley the move affected alot of people as it was a very rough transition and the company experienced alot of unexpected problems. Her situation is NOT normal. Lia Sophia’s customer service is phenomenal and they will bend over backwards to make any problem right. Our retrun time is 2-3 weeks and it should NEVER take any longer than this.. You need your reciept so they can look up your order. Anyone could buy a piece of jewerly from ebay or win a piece at a show and try to return it. It’s just common sense as with a purchase from anywhere that you need a reciept to return an item. Lia Sophia needs to be able to look up your order so they can give you the proper credit. If you bought a new car or a new computer, tv major appliance that offered a warranty.. you would hang on to your reciept and because our jewerly is high quality and does cost a little more your investment should be taken care of. By keeping your reciept.
One thing that lia sophia offers to advisors is a chance to earn free jewelry all the time. Monthly, Yearly, and Quarterly. Along with recruiting as well. Like I said I have been with the company for just over a year and I have earned in excess of $10,000.00 in FREE jewerly. Which means.. I have never paid for anything out of my pocket to add to my starter kit to have pieces to show, at my shows. Yes the commission starting out is only 30% but it is a subsantial amount more than “most” direct sales companies pay. The second thing to look into is the marketing plan of where you will go from the 30% starting. Most companies only pay 2-4% payout on who you recruit. Lia Sophia pays you 10% and an extra 10% on your personal sales.
Yes you buy catalogs, yes you pay for gas to and from your shows, yes you pay for invitations etc.. The hostess benefits are INCREDIBLE and you do not pay for those. I do not give out catalogs at my shows. And an average party… including prizes and invitations gas etc.. costs me $15 – $20 however.. on an average party of $500.00 you earn $150.00 take away $20 you still have $130 for maybe 3 hours of work.. Is still $43.00 an hour. The pay is excellent.. I went from $500-$1000 a month starting out.. within 6 months was making $4,000 – $6,00 montly and in a year went from $6,000 – $8,000 montly. In just over a year $8,000 – $10,000 montly. The income potential is INCREDIBLE. Tell me where else you can work and recieve that kind of raise??? I am not that one in a million who do well with Lia Sophia.. My results are VERY typical!!
You’ll always find a problem with any company.. walmart, dillards, target, tiffanies. Every person has their own experiences.. some good and some bad. As with any company there are great employees and some not so great. You many shop somewhere once and have the best experience ever you may shop there again and hate it. My experience is third times a charm.. so if you love Lia Sophia.. awesome you should! And if you have not had such a great experience your first time around.. Give someone a chance to show you how truly awesome this company is. It is amazing and it has changed my life. They will treat you like a queen.. if given the chance.

I agree with K.H. I just left another direct sales company. I thought that I would be making more at the other company but I had to purchase a lot to stock to make money. That is why I joined Lia Sophia. Everything is as promised and very upfront. You enter your shows online and your commission is direct deposited into your account. Very easy! I’m just starting out but I can already see the potential. I look forward to a great year such as KH. I recieve several comments on the jewelry I wear out and even my mother who doesn’t EVER buy anything for herself has a new found jewelry addiction. If she is sold on it I believe anyone can be. :)
6/14/07 at 9:17 amI have been a lia sophia consultant for a little over one year. I have found the company to be fantastic. I am able to treat my hostesses really well! I do this very part time. I do have shows that are over $1000.00 but I also have many that are not. I work 1 evening a week and usually make between $800.00-1200.00 a month. I just love it!! lia sophia did have a few months during the transition to a new builing that were very difficult. It was hard on everyone and I’m sure there were customers who were very unhappy, but that is not the norm. Lia sophia gave a $50.00 certificate to every hostess that had a show during those months. My customers have been very happy, I’m very happy and I’m also very lucky!!
6/21/07 at 10:32 pmMy friend and I are considering joining Lia Sophia. She was reading the recruiting pack and said something about losing your downline if you have a slow month, etc. Can someone explain this more thoroughly to me? We’re very turned off at the idea of building a team that will be taken away from us if something should happen and we have a bad month or couple of months. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
6/27/07 at 6:21 pmLisa,…
6/30/07 at 12:31 amYour team doesn’t get “taken from you” if you hvae a slow month. You can build a team for as long as you like without ever going to managment. However, once you do get to managment.. there are certain criteria that you must meet monthly. If that criteria is not met. Then yes you could lose your downline. Just make sure when you go to managment your team is strong and you should be fine. If you want to chat I am on MSN messenger wer5bsn1k@hotmail.com
I am a lia sophia advisor and have been since October 2006. I am so eager to promote to unit manager. As far as the recruits you promote taken away from you, as long as you have 3 personal qualified recruits and none of them quit then your fine. To be on the safe side I waited until I had 5 recruits under me. By the way their recruits also help keep your status under as a manager. If the person who has a downline quits that downline will be yours and so it will help you maintain a manager level. i would wait until 5 recruits and let them go throuh the first month before you promote. I’m not pushy when it comes to recruits, the ones i have fell in love with the jewelry and came to me! My income is around $500 to $670 a week. That’s alot of money for just a few shows. the Best part is you can do this part time or full time..and there’s NO Yearly or Monthly fees after you pay your start up kit there’s nothing else you have to pay for to stay with the company. Of course your gonna pay for gas, invitations, catalogs, and order forms but the catalogs are reasonably priced the invitations are around $6 for 100 the order forms are $2.50 i believe for a pack of 50. And the best part is you get to take your mileage and all the stuff you buy (including you sample jewelry pieces by the way we get at incredible discount)off your taxes!!! The lifetime replacement guarantee is the main reason i started the company..i wanted something that people wouldn’t be scared to buy and as a remote I had to break the ground in my area. I don’t consider myself a salesman or woman rather…the jewelry sells itself and the fantastic customer specials they have each month really gets those expensive items in the customers hands…and then possibly book. I always get about 2-3 booking per show!!! Lia sophia is truley a great company that has made many of my dreams already come true in only 8 months…i get to stay at home with my kids, not have to pay a babysitter, i work my own hours, but i get paid more then what i would at a 40 work week. Not to mention they are so much fun! you can visit my website to learn more about me and my company http://www.liasophia.com/tonyacase
7/2/07 at 9:03 amA couple of clarifications, since I too am an advisor (and not the same Lisa that already posted to this group).
The company is really full of options, and it pays to know exactly what you’re getting into before you join ANY direct sales company. Remember, you’re starting a brand new BUSINESS of your very own, so it’s wise to do your homework!
First, you DO pay for the hostess bonus program, but it’s a very nominal $6 fee (which goes higher if you OPT to pay for the additional 20% bonus). Catalogs and everything you need for your first few shows are included in your starter kit. Your personal web site is an additional charge. You also have the option of giving out discontinued jewelry as a booking/party gift, but those pieces ARE NOT covered by the lifetime warranty. That’s part of the reason (in addition to ebay) that lia sophia requires an order number/receipt for any returns/exchanges. I always keep a copy of my customer receipts, just in case someone loses theirs.
Now let’s talk money you make – the national show average is one of the highest in the Direct Sales Industry – over $720! at 30%, you’re grossing over $200 per show. My longest show runs 3 hours MAX – and that’s with a LOT of orders and questions. Plus all the deductions for expenses – but don’t get wrapped up in deductions, because you can’t take them until you spend them. Conference is an expense, but when you walk out with over $200 in free jewelry, plus all the training, it’s DEFINITELY worth the cost.
You can really make almost any legit direct sales business work with the right focus. I give all my potential recruits a small booklet that I wrote and put together to help educate them about whether or not direct sales is the right choice for them. That way they know I’m looking out for them and want them to be successful BEFORE they shell out the money for a starter kit. They can make an educated decision about whether or not they should be pursuing a career in direct sales. When I give them that info, you might be surprised to hear how many recruits that decide not to become advisors become some of my best hostesses! Because they know you care, they trust you more and continue to work with you in the future.
Don’t get me wrong, I love having a big team, but I’d much rather have people that love the product, want to excel and know what they’re getting into. SERIOUSLY, this is YOUR own business, and you need to run it as such to be successful. Direct Sales ISN’T for everyone, although anyone can do it. That’s why some people fail. But you can’t blame the system for that. There is work to do to be successful, but when you compare it to the typical payout on a 9-5 job, the returns are often much better for less work.
7/16/07 at 5:24 pmHello,
7/29/07 at 2:11 pmI am a lia sophia advisor as well. What are the best ways as a new advisor to sign new recruits? I am just starting to feel comfortable and feel like I know enough about the business to move forword! Any suggestions?????Lindkkl@hotmail.com Thanks!
Hi Everyone,
The Lia Sophia CS department is very friendly but every time I call they give me a different answer.
I called today for the third time for one problem (a very defective finish). The first lady was very friendly and offered to send a replacement right away. She sent out an address label to return the earrings FOC and said the replacement earrings would more than likely be here by the end of the week. Friday came and so did the return label but no earrings.
I called back and a man told be it would be Monday and if I wanted a return of my money it would be at least 2-3 weeks to get it (If I had know it could take that long to get my money back I would have returned them as soon as I opened the box). Well the earring came today(Monday) and when I called CS back for some info about the return form the lady told me at least 2-4 weeks depending on the work flow.
I’m frustrated. It’s going to take over a month from start to finish to get my money back on a product that should have never been shipped in the first place :(
Next time I’ll just buy my jewelery in person.
7/30/07 at 11:58 pmI am thinking about joining Lia Sophia or Premier Designs. I have been to both parties. I know it is cheaper to join Lia Sophia but I can’t remember are the jewelry about the same price or is Premier more expensive for the customers? I hear that you can make 50% with Premier. Honestly who is better?
8/1/07 at 6:52 amVA, I am in the same boat you are … I have been asked for years to join the Premier team… I know their product and I like the background behind the company. HOWEVER, I just went to my first Lia Sophia party and LOVE the product. I am currently researching to find more out. It seems that their (LS) product is a tad bit higher priced for the customer, but I really like the excitement and incentives offered as an adviser for Lia Sophia.
8/3/07 at 10:34 pmI am a manager with lia sophia, and joined five years ago. Trying to compare Premier and lia sophia is like trying to compare Target to WalMart–no one will give you the same answer!! Both will tell you their favorite store is better…likewise, you need to sit down, compare the products, the business plans and the people you will be working with yourself. Both companies sell beautiful jewelry, you need to figure out the best fit for you.
lia sophia offers a $1000 starter kit for $149. Premier’s intial costs are more (I believe they have several starter kits). In any direct sales you want to be careful how much of an investment you make, simply in case you decide its not for you:-)
lia sophia has one of the highest show averages in the country–around $725. At 30%, that’s an average of over $200 for 3 hours of work. My average costs per show has remained consistant at about $15-$25 a show.
lia sophia’s SAVE PLAN means we always have the highest priced item you pick out half-off with the purchase of two LESSER priced items!
lia sophia has a lifetime replacement guarantee…and yes–they are getting better with this. When a company grows from 2500 advisors to 25,000 advisors in just three years, there is a bit of catch-up involved! The company is committed to offering the best in customer service.
Our hostess plan is the NUMBER ONE reason I think so many women have had success! You get so much jewelry for so little as a hostess it is VERY easy to get people to book a show!
Plus our advisor discount is incredible…
As for earning potential…well, five years ago I was the first one in my area to sell the jewelry. I have made a six-figure income each the past three years! Not only that, I have many women on my team doing the same, and probably over fifty making in the high fives! In the next year we will double in size…how many of those new people will be under you:-)
Have fun deciding, and make sure you talk personally with reps from both. Go with the company you feel fits you best. Afterall, I may like WalMart better than Target, but I still shp there, too! :-)
8/5/07 at 6:12 amHere you go…
Lia Sophia Vs. Premier.. haha
I have actually done some extensive research on both Lia Sophia and Premier.. and to be honest. They are almost identical.
However.. here are the biggest differences. I have found.. and this is from the information I have gathered.. please correct me if anyone knows differently.
Ok… start up costs.
Lia Sophia ( $149.00 or Free) This includes EVERYTHING you need to get started. Jewelry (that is yours to keep and show) catalogs etc..
Premier ($350.00 ) that does not include ANY Jewelry. You then can purchase pieces at 50% off. Lia Sophia’s personal discount is 70% off. There is another kit offered through Premier for $750.00 that does include Jewelry Pieces. There is no option to start for free and there is an annual renewal fee of $350.00
Pay…
Starting with Lia Sophia is 30% Premier is 50%. Lia Sophia pays 5 levels deep. Premier pays 3. You might start out with a higher commission in the beginning but the long term payout is higher and more significantly substantial through lia sophia.
Premiers company show average is $500.00 Lia Sophia is $750.00
Advertising…
Lia Sophia allows advisors a personal website. Premier does not. Premier allows no internet advertising or websites or internet promotion of any kind! There are chat forums and advertising for lia sophia through myspace etc.. all over the internet. This site is a great example! haha
Benefits to customers..
Lia Sophia offers a lifetime warranty regardless of reason. Premier offers a lifetime warranty on manufacturers defects only. Customers must pay a $5.35 fee per piece to return items to premier. Lia Sophia is free for the first 120 days and then $5.00 per piece. However Lia Sophia sends the customer back a $5.00 gift certificate for each item if that fee was paid. Hostesses can earn up to 30% free Jewelry through Premier.. they can earn 40% with Lia Sophia among TONS of other benefits. ( I don’t see that premier offers any other benefits) Lia Sophia has an UNBEATABLE customer save plan.
Those were the biggest differences I found. So to sum it up…
8/8/07 at 6:53 amLia Sophia’s cost is less, the benefits to your customers is better, and you will make more money in the long run. :o)
With Lia Sophia when you sign up and pay your $149 don’t you have to committ to 5 bookings?
8/11/07 at 6:10 amAlso, with Premier Designs even though you only get paid 3 levels down, those 3 levels each pay an overide of 10%. Do you get the same overide pay for each level in Lia Sophia?
8/11/07 at 9:00 pmI am an advisor, and I would LOVE to talk to you about the company. I LOVE IT!!! I would try to help you solve a problem, just contact me through my web-site!! http://www.liasophia.com/suemarsden
8/17/07 at 7:57 pmYes, you have to commit to 5 parties, but if you want to own your own business, committing to parties should not be a problem!! ITS EASY!!!
8/17/07 at 8:00 pmI really liked the jewelry when I got it last week. However I wore the necklace and earrings today for the FIRST time and the necklace broke. I am going to have to return it and hopefully will not have any problems.
8/19/07 at 4:20 amWhat a great site this is…just found it today and I’m excited to share my information with all of you. I am a unit manager with lia sophia. I have been with the company for 2 years and a manager for 1 year…looking to promote to Division this fall! Can’t say enough about the company, the jewelry and how great of an opportunity it has been for me…a stay-at-home mom of four! Take a look at my website if you want to hear more: http://www.liasophia.com/glittergal
8/19/07 at 7:38 pmLori, yes, you do have to commit to 5 parties when you sign on as an advisor and Sue is exactly right…that is set up for you to get your business up and running…5 parties initially can lead you to so much more and really get your business to take off. A small committment for a big pay off! The override question is a little more tricky to answer and honestly, it is easier to see and understand in person and I’m sure there is a “structure” to Premier’s override system too. But it looks something like this:
Level 1 (advisor)–30% commission on your own sales
Level 2 (unit manager)–40%on self, 10% on personal recruits
Level 3 (division)–40%on self, 10% on personal unit & 5%
on promoted units
Level 4 (region)–40%on self, 10% on personal unit, 5% on
first and second level promoted units and 2% on
third & fourth level promoted units
Level 5 (zone)–40%on self, 10% on personal unit, 5%on
first and second level promoted units and 2% on
third, fourth and fifth level promoted units
Told you that at a glance like this it looks confusing, but sum it up to say that the higher you promote…the more you make!! It’s well worth it, trust me. Anyone wanting to sort it out personally, get in touch with me thru my website…would love to talk with you.

Each Lia Sophia Advisor runs her business a little different than the other. My new advisors only need 4 shows not 5 and never pay for thier own kits. Secondly you start out having your own show and those 4 bookings can usually be pulled from your starter show, thus making it very easy to get started.
No with Lia Sophia we do not get 10% override on each of the 3 levels.. however we do get a month end bonus that covers more than what you would make on a 10% override. You would just have to break down the plan as the commission is different for each company. It also depends on how big your downline is.. you may get 10% on 3 levels but only have 25 girls in your team. Where you may only make 5% on 3 levels but have 150 girls in your team.. so there are alot of factors in your income.. not just the percent you make on your downline.
8/22/07 at 9:50 amHi ladies!
8/29/07 at 7:46 pmI left a comment earlier in the year and I am proud to say I will officially be unit manager as of September 1. YIPEE!!! I was a remote and fell into lia sophia completely by accident. I actually hit the wrong button on the computer, because i was looking for something to do with medical insurance or transcription to work at home…and somehow or another i got to the http://www.dsa.com page. I saw lia sophia…had no idea what it was, never heard of it, never saw the jewelry except online. But it sparked my interest for some reason. I knew that i was supposed to do this.
Anyways, my manager lives 6 hours away so needless to say I was a remote and the first in my area, it was a challenge at first but it truley pays off with hard work and dedication.
You have to have passion and purpose in the business. I am very passionate about having shows and meeting potential recruits and I also have a purpose, staying at home with the kids, free trips, extra money.
But my manager trained me VERY WELL, and she helped make me who i am today as a lia sophia “consultant”. I train my girls in the same matter. I am always there for them and i will begin doing incentives starting Sept 1st. My girls are confident in the product and they are passionate. I don’t push anyone, if they are interested I give them a recruit packet. When they are ready they contact me, they will they just might not be able to fit another thing in their schedule. For example i had a show in November of last year, the lady contacted me every so often and asked questions, i answered, and it took almost a year for her to sign up but she just did yesterday!
I have learned so much and i am so much more confident. I am ready for the responsibility that comes with management and my recruits are in for the long haul. I make sure of that because i read them the team expectations before they EVER sign up and I will be giving them excellent incentives!
If you feel that your ready to recruit, then you probably are, remember though that during the first month you’ll most likely have alot of calls or emails with questions from her, and you’ll have to train her in baby steps (in my opinion) throwing it all on them at once just confuses them. Baby steps are best! I don’t feel that you should be pushy, or call them every day…that gets old and they most likely won’t want to recruit. The simplest way to get LONG TERM and dedicated recruits is to give them the information, then let them come to you. Their dedication and hard work will show, because you didn’t PUSH them to do this, THEY pushed themselves. They want this opportunity! Share it, it has been a gift to me, and gifts are made to be given. If you have any questions or would like to have a party go to my website, i will do my best to honestly answer all of your questions to the best of my ability!
I am considering supplementing my income. I sold Pampered Chef a few years ago, and the main reason I stopped was bookings. I am not one to pressure people. I need to be sure that I will have something to offer hostesses to make them WANT to have a show. This is the one thing holding me back from making a committment. Any help?
9/1/07 at 1:57 pmHi Renee~
I am a new advisor with Lia Sophia and I absolutely LOVE it! I have been in direct sales prior to Lia with a home decor company. I loved the products, but didn’t love lugging heavy boxes of stuff back and forth to my shows. I went to my first Lia Sophia party this past May and I was in awe at how easy and fun it looked. I decided to give it a try and I was absolutely right! I think our hostess plan is the BEST out there!
20% of the show sales in FREE jewelry
4 Hostess Bonus items ($15 each unless otherwise stated)
2 half-price items PLUS get and additional half-price item when you purchase from a show booked at yours
*With 10 orders and 2 dated bookings double your hostess credit to 40% for only $15!
If I can answer any questions for you, please feel free to email me at werdahoods@aol.com.
Good luck with your decision-I hope I’ve been helpful!
9/4/07 at 4:44 amHello Ladies,
9/4/07 at 5:52 amI am torn between signing on with Lia Sophia and a brand new jewelry company. I am concerned that there may be too many LS advisors in my area (Chicagoland). HELP! Does anyone know how many there are (approximately)? I just worry that if this area is flooded it will be hard to get bookings.
Bridget~
I am a new Lia Sophia Advisor (since August) in the Chicago area. I don’t know the number of advisors in this area but the last report showed 1900 in the whole state of Illinois. My opinion is that with Lia Sophia you are representing a company with 30 years behind them, vs starting with a brand new company. Also be sure to compare the hostess program, pay plan, etc. I have had the same concerns you have but I will say that there are people in this area who are doing a GREAT business and I want to be one of them! To get off to a strong start you need 6 shows booked in your first month. This will set you up for success. Start asking around and see who your first 6 shows will be. If you hold your 6 shows, by the end of the month you will have earned a approx $1000, $600 in FREE Lia Sophia jewelry and at that point you can decide whether or ot you want to continue. You’ve lost nothing and look what you have to keep! Just my two cents! If I can answer any other questions for you feel free to email me at werdahoods@aol.com
Hope this was helpful! Good luck with your decision!

9/8/07 at 2:52 pmHI RENEE,
9/9/07 at 1:33 amSOUNDS LIKE LISA AND I HAVE HAD SIMILAR PAST EXPERIENCES WITH DIRECT SELLING. I TOO HAVE BEEN A DISPLAYER WITH A HOME DECOR COMPANY AND I CAN ECHO WHAT LISA HAD TO SAY. AND, I’VE BEEN TOLD BY MY UPLINE MANAGERS THAT THERE HAVE BEEN STUDIES DONE THAT LIA SOPHIA HAS THE BEST HOSTESS PROGRAM IN THE DIRECT SELLING BUSINESS…I CAN BELIEVE IT! WE HAVE SUCH A GREAT HOSTESS PROGRAM TO WORK WITH AND IF YOU ARE PRESENTING IT WITH LOVE OF YOUR PRODUCT AND EXCITEMENT, YOUR CALENDAR WILL BE FULL!! DOING SHOWS WITH MY PAST DS COMPANY, I CAN TELL YOU THAT MY CALENDAR WOULD BE MOST FILLED AND I HAD HOSTESSES WAITING FOR THE ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR WHEN THEY WERE OFFERED “DOUBLE FREE”…WELL, WITH LIA SOPHIA, EVERY HOSTESS CAN GET “DOUBLE FREE” (40% ) ALL THE TIME BY HAVING AT LEAST 10 ORDERS AND AT LEAST 2 BOOKINGS…NOT HARD TO GET WHEN THEY SEE THE GREAT HOSTESS BENEFITS! TRUST ME, YOU’LL LOVE WORKING WITH THIS HOSTESS PACKAGE…VISIT MY WEBSITE OR EMAIL ME IF YOU WANT MORE INFO.
JUST TO TOUCH ON BRIDGET’S CONCERN…I DON’T LIVE IN THE CHICAGO AREA AND I DON’T KNOW HOW MANY ADVISORS THERE ARE IN THAT AREA, BUT WHAT I CAN TELL YOU IS THAT I LIVE IN A VERY RURAL AREA (FARM LAND, LITERALLY) AND THERE ARE ABOUT 8 ADVISORS WITHIN A 20 MILE RADIUS OF ME…FOR A BUNCH OF SMALL TOWNS, THAT IS A LOT OF ADVISORS…MY CALENDAR IS STILL FULL! SOMETIMES SOMETHING NEW IS GREAT, BUT SOMETIMES, WHAT EVERYONE KNOWS AND TRUSTS IS THE WAY TO GO.
about Lia Sophia I Just wondering what is included in the starter kit? alot of jewelry?

9/14/07 at 2:04 amI am an adivsor and I to would be happy to answer any questions anyone has about becoming an advisor or just has questions about the lia sophia jewelry. It’s a great opportunity and I just love it! Thanks.
9/17/07 at 6:19 pmHello there,
I would just like to say that I am so glad I found this site. I have never heard of Lia Sophia nor Lady Remington (previous name) before and I stumbled upon this site during my research. I appreciate the time many of the advisors etc. took to explain the inner workings of the company and hostess benefits. I have to say I was somewhat confused after reading the website, poor wording on the site I guess.
The information has been very helpful and interesting, so thank you to everyone who has posted a comment. I have been looking for a new stay at home market. The only problem I have encountered is interest. You know that initial base of people they tell you to draw from? Well mine hasn’t been interested in anything from spices to candles…… I’m going to have to see if this sparks their interest.
Thanks again for the info ladies!!!
Carrie
9/19/07 at 10:08 pmBy the way, I’m ot sure where this site originates from, but the time index stamp appears in correct, I just posted and it’s after 3pm where I am from and it says 10pm.
9/19/07 at 10:19 pmHi, I just started selling lia sophia I really like but I cant seem to get anymore shows booked, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks, Melanie
9/20/07 at 1:22 amI LOVE MY LIA SOPHIA PIECES AND I HAVE MANY. HOWEVER ONE THING LEFT OUT IS THE TIME LIMIT TO RETURN AND OR REPLACE, THE PRICE PER ITEM THAT HAS TO BE PAID AND THE FACT OF NO RECIEPT SO IT LIMITS GIFT GIVING FOR ME. AS IVE RECIEVED MANY PIECES I DIDNT CARE FOR AND WITH NO RECIEPT YOU GET HARDLY ANY MONEY BACK FOR YOUR PURCHASE EVEN IN A GIFT RECIEPT….I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED I GOT CERTIFICATES FOR $60.00 FOR 2 ITEMS I RECIEVED AS GIFTS THAT I KNOW MY FRIENDS PAID OVER $160.00 FOR. AND IT WAS NEVER WORN….SO SAD …CUSTOMER SERVICE IS WHAT IS GOING TO SORT A GOOD COMPANY FROM A POOR ONE SO GALS LOOK CLOSER AT THE GUARANTEDD AND WARRANTY!!!!THANK YOU
9/24/07 at 2:33 amhello, I have really enjoyed reading these blogs and now its my turn….A few weeks ago my sister had a lia sophia party. We all had such a great time. I just had a baby and am looking for a job where I can stay home. So I decided to sell it. My first starter party is THIS SUNDAY and I am already worried. My sister got her order and one item was missing, one came broken and one was wrong. Then in front of two potential people who would have a party for me (to get my first 5) my cousin said she went to put on her lia bracelet for the first time and it fell on the rug and broke. Now I don’t know if I will get the required amount in sales at my starter party or if I will get my first 5 shows. I do have 2 shows booked already (people who were not at my sisters show)but I still need two more. What if i don’t get the shows within a month of my starter show? When do I sign the advisor agrement?
9/24/07 at 3:21 pmI am looking for an consultant in the Livonia, Mi area. I would like to host a party on Sat. Oct 6th, please contact me at tastefullycindy@yahoo.com, thanks
9/26/07 at 2:00 pmFor those who are debating between Lia Sophia and Premier… why haven’t you considered joining Cookie Lee? I have been in direct sales with Mary Kay for 14 years and wanted to add a line of jewelry strictly to do fundraising for diabetes. I researched them all and found that Cookie Lee had the least investment and biggest return (50%), plus the jewelry is unusual, very inexpensive and has a manageable catalogue that comes out twice a year. The other ones were too overwhelming in terms of numbers of products and confusing hostess programs. Please feel free to contact me at ozexpress@verizon.net for any more info.
9/27/07 at 12:43 pmWhat constitues a “qualifing show”? I am having my first show and just curious?
9/28/07 at 2:48 pmIt’s been interesting to read this site. I signed up as a new advisor two weeks ago and am looking to grow a team, but right now I’m learning. I was a hostess and LOVED the hostess plan, which sold me on the idea of selling this jewelry. If I could get so much for free with only three people at my show, just think what others could get from their shows? It was fun to have a show! We had fun trying things on, and I just know this will be a great thing to help others with too. http://www.liasophia.com/sites/krysta
9/29/07 at 6:14 pmMISSY-A qualifying show is only 250 dollars in customer sales. That is so easy to do just be sure that you over invite and get orders ahead of time if people can’t make it and you deals as a hostess go up ridiculously (sp?) if you can get ten orders and 2 bookings. You should be able to call or shoot your advisor an email if you have any questions. I am happy to help though so feel free to contact me if you would like… hope this helps.
AND FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN BEING PART OF MY TEAM I WILL GIVE YOU AN EXTRA 100 IN JEWELRY IF YOU SIGN UP WITH ME BEFORE NOVEMBER!!! TRUST ME IT IS A WIN WIN SITUATION.. DOES NOT MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE I WILL HELP YOU MAKE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS A WEEK IN NO TIME!!!!!
10/4/07 at 6:38 pmhttp://www.liasophia.com/shane contact me i might want to increase that to more just let me know!!!
Wow, what a great site for people like myself. I had a lot of questions about Liasofia and this site is a wealth of information. I recently decided to sign on and some of the things said here terrify me, yet the overall vibe is positive. Everyone seems very helpful. Out of pocket is next to nothing and you get out what you put into it. I look forward to the challenge of building my own business. Amanda’s story worries me a little. Sounds like her sister’s party was a bit of a gray cloud. I’m just hoping the broken bracelet was a fluke. And there a lot of posts about returned jewelry. I would think that if the jewelry was of poor quality, this company would not be thriving as it does. That’s what I’m assuming anyway. I would love for Amanda to post a note about how that all worked out and how her first party went. Thanks to all that take the time to answer questions. This has been a great tool for me.
10/8/07 at 1:15 amRenee _
Before you sign up with a jewelry company you need to do your homework. I am in the Chicagoland area as well.
I actually had reps from all the companies come out before making my decision.
Let me know if you need any help

10/8/07 at 5:49 amHi All ~ I am a fairly new lia sophia advisor. I love the jewelry. For my starter show I got over $400 in free product. I have one show and had a fun time meeting people. The jewelry sells itself!
The first show I held with lia sophia I received a check for $250.00. That was for 2 hours of “work” if you call having fun with other woman work!
If anyone would like to join my team, please check out my website and send me your information.
10/12/07 at 5:22 amHELP!
I am a new advisor and my goal was to get 5 qualifying parties in by Oct. 22nd (monday). I’ve already received over $1800 total sales in 3 parties and have another big one tomorrow night, BUT my party tonight is not looking very good. My hostess could only get 1 other person to show.
I’ve already pushed my website and getting outside orders but what happens if it does not turn out to be a qualifying show? Does that mean I’m done selling? No one has ever told me the consequences, just that I HAVE to do it.
Thanks!
10/18/07 at 7:06 pmI am also an Advisor of Lia Sophia. I must say I was not one to wear jewelry but a friend invited me to a show (which I never heard of)and fell in love. I knew that night, I wanted to sell this line.
To answer your questions Missy, A qualifing show is $250.
Which is very easy to reach. Everyone want to talk about a rocky start.
A few days before my Starter show was to start my manager was hospitalized for a severe Staf infection. I had to do my show all by myself (I borrowed my managers kit)and I did great. It was a $900 plus show, I made $270. and since I was also the Hostess I got 40% in free jewelry ($360.)plus my 4-$15 items, 2 half off. It was great.. As for the returns. I keep a file on all my customers in case they lost their reciept. I also, do the returns for my customers and I pay the $15 if they have a show which they earn the 40%. That’s the least I can do for them since they keep me in business.
For the ladies who had a bad experiance, don’t let it alter your mind. Lia Sophia is a great line for costume jewelry. For the ladies considering joining. Go for it… You really should try it. The sky is the limit with this company. I am in R.I, the littlest state in the union…
10/20/07 at 2:20 pmWOW! I”m so glad I found this site. I am in the investigation phase still and am wondering if anyone has heard of Silpada and how this company stacks up?
10/21/07 at 4:19 pmI am a new advisor in the great state of Texas. We have less than 400 advisors and Texas is a BIG place. So far things are going great for me. I love the jewelry and the money I am making. I am only doing 2 parties a week and my schedule is staying full. If there is anyone ANYEWHERE in Texas that is interested in getting started, let me know and my team and I will come to you and get you started. We are excited about this business and we will gladly help you out!

10/22/07 at 1:34 amHi all, I can’t belive all the posts since my first one way last spring!
I am now a Unit Mgr with a nationwide team of 18 and growing!!
I think it is our comprehensive training pack that gets the New Starts off to a great beginning without having to search all over for forms, the business set up etc. And our generous Welcome Pack.
It’s been just over a year since I started, giving up another DS company after 13 years =) and not regretting it for a minute. lia sophia is generous to Advisors, hostesses and guests.
We just got a jewelry comparison sheet and we blow the other ds jewelry companies out of the water!
Our Rotkvich training cds are fabulous as is our cd with all the forms listed so our new starts are up in running in a few hours. It doesn’t surprise me how generous other Advisors are in sharing info to make us all move forward!
They have helped me scout out the better places to buy supplies, get free business cards, scripts and games! THANK YOU ALL!!
If you are considering lia sophia ask anyone here or give me a quick email through my website, and I can fill you in on how fabulous this company really is.
http://www.liasophia.com/lynnandreske
I see Division Mgr on the horizon!!
Have a blessed day!
Change the life of just one woman and watch the ripple as she shares her blessings with others!
10/23/07 at 12:51 amI noticed that some are wondering about the different jewerly companies out there and what they offer.
I have a comparison sheet of Premier, Cookie Lee, Silpada and lia sophia….
It really shows how generous lia sophia is to Hostesses, guests and its’ Advisors!!
For those interested you can email me at
dreaminginblue@hotmail.com for a copy. I’d love to share with you the possibilities and simplicity of working with lia sophia.
My account is so impressed and dear hubby in sales for over 25 years is sooooo behind this company and my success.

10/23/07 at 1:16 pmHello Everyone,
I live in the Chicago Area and I also have been selling Lia Sophia Jewelry for 3 years now, I love it and I see that many of you are asking about the area having to many advisors in it, but the great thing is we can take on advisors from anywhere in the US so if your looking to bring on other advisors on your team you can call any friends, family anyone you know in any state to join your team, we do not have assigned area’s we can go anywhere.
What makes it fun is to get your friends to bring their other friends and get bookings from them so you expand outside of your friend circle this is how you move forward with your business, Challenge your friends to bring 3 people they know that you haven’t met, whether it be a work/church friend.
I would love to talk and share my business with anyone, you can reach me via cell phone 708-670-1135 or Email TammiJoP@aol.com or visit my website at http://www.liasophia.com/TammiPhelan
Share the Love of Jewelry…. Contact me today you can live in any state……
10/24/07 at 2:14 pmI am so disappointed with the Lia Sophia product. I attended a party two months ago and ordered over $200 in jewelry including one piece that I gave to someone for a gift. It all turned a dull, dark gray color after only wearing it a couple of times, including the gift. How embarassing! In having conversations with my friend who hosted the party, I discovered that everyone is having problems with their jewelry that attended her party. My friend bought a gold link bracelet and the gold peeled off after the first time she wore it. I think the jewelry is crap! We’re in the process of trying to see if they will stand by the junk and give us back our money. We’ll see what happens; I hope they handle it properly.
10/25/07 at 1:25 pmMany of you will see a have posted here before. That was BEFORE I became a lia sophia rep. I love it!!!!!!!!! If there is anyone in Michigan who would like to become a rep, just let me know.
Have a great day!
10/25/07 at 6:57 pmI too have been trying to decide between, Silpada and Lia Sophia. Does anyone have any knowledge on Silpada…it didn’t seem like their hostess plan was that great but they also have beautiful jewelry.
10/26/07 at 2:38 amHi everyone! Great site. I’ve been an advisor since April 2006. I have loved every minute of it.

10/28/07 at 4:28 amHi everyone! I just wanted to add what lia sophia has done for me! I had 2 parties done by a friend of mine who was an advisor and at each show I hostessed I earned around $600 in FREE jewelry! I though what an awesome thing! At my last show my advisor asked if I would like to make it my starter show, all I had to do was fill out the info to join the company. I sent in my $149 check for my started kit and soon received aver $1000 in jewelry that I get to keep even if I decide not to continue. I ended up fuffilling my Excellent Beginnings program and earned $600 in jewelry certificates to add to my collection! I now have been in the business for 4 months and I have a great cliental who keeps me very active. Lia Sophia not only allows me to earn extra income but I can also work full time as a special education teacher and focus on my family! Wouldn’t you like to learn more about how to make your dreams come true?

11/3/07 at 9:08 pmI joined lia sophia about 1 year ago – I thought – I have nothing to lose. I hosted a party, got $340 in free jewelry, bought the kit for $149 and knew that with as little as 2 catalog parties, that would pay for the kit. What I didn’t realize was how much money I could really make at my parties and how much fun I would have wearing and selling the jewelry. I just love it. What a great feeling it is to have fun and make money – I am averaging over $300 per party and I have made as much as $650 in one night, and I feel no pressure. Now that I have 1 year behind me, I feel ready to recruit and build my team. It’s a great company to work for – great incentives, terrific $$, and you can truthfully work at your own pace. If you are motivated you can earn a substantial living! Anyone have any questions or would like to join my team in the NY/Long Island area or anywhere for that matter, you can contact me at liasophia.com/carolpreis or cpreis555@gmail.com
11/7/07 at 7:32 amDo I have this right? At my starter show I will earn free jewelry but no money. Then any bookings I get at my show will be for me to go out and do. I’m excited about this opportunity but I want to make sure I have it right. Thanks.
11/8/07 at 6:44 pmHI JUST WANT TO SAY WHAT A GREAT MONTH IT WAS FOR US WHO SOLD LIA SOPHIA IN OCT. CANT WAIT FOR NOV OUR TEAM HAS 24 BOOKINGS . THIS IS REALLY JUST SAYING HOW MUCH THE PEOPLE LOVE LIA. VIST MY WEB PAGE. http://WWW.LIASOPHIA.COM/BECKYMAK
11/8/07 at 8:02 pmHAVE A GOOD DAY
HI. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT COME IN MY KIT FOR $149 AND SHOULD I HAVE MY KIT BEFORE MY STARTER SHOW. IF I DON’T HAVE IT, HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COME TO ME. THANKS. I’M EXCITED FOR MY STARTER SHOW.
11/11/07 at 6:40 amHi I’m a new advisor for Lia Sophia, I just wanted to let everyone know what a great company this is to work for. I started out just doing shows for fun and the jewlery a group of my friends get together for girls nite once a month and now were all having shows and I have to potenial recruits. It’s a great way to either make extra cash or even just for the love of the jewlery. were all so happy with all of our bling lol I own my own business and thought this was just going to be a side job thing. but it has taken over lol I love it! I started out with just 6 parites and it grew to 15 parties the incentives for hostess’s are fabulousious!! I even spot lia sophia on people that come into my shop and always comment on it! I’m working my way through western pa so if anyone out there is interested you can email me @ thecepeks@yahoo.com i’m working on my website as we speak lol This is a fun easy way to add income to your family. Please have no doubts I had a party were my friends were very skeptical not sure if they wanted to buy my first party was 850.00 in home sales… so go for it the worse thing is you get alot of nice free jewlery!!!
11/11/07 at 5:19 pmI am in my 2nd year with lia sophia as an Advisor and I really enjoy it. I have 1 new recruit as part of my team. If I never wish to recruit anyone else….I don’t have to. I’m doing what I love (besides a full time job during the week and raising 4 kids), and I love the jewelry. I have felt no pressure to sign people up, sell a certain amount, or to purchase additional jewelry.
11/12/07 at 1:52 amI found it interesting to read some of these comments about “buying more jewelry to add to your collection, buying catalogs, books, gasoline for driving to the parties, etc.” If you work ANY job and can’t walk to it, you have to drive and purchase gasoline. Same with having supplies. I work in an office and must drive every day, plus attend meetings in the evening (more driving, more gasoline), and I need a certain wardrobe. That all costs money.
With lia sophia, your startup cost gets you everything you need. My new recruit….I told her not to purchase additional jewelry until she ‘earned’ it with her FREE jewelry certificates. Instead, I loan her my jewelry to show at parties and it works out great! I’ve even loaned out extra catalogs that I have – even to my upline! I focus on having fun, learning about the people I meet at every party, and keeping a positive attitude. I love it! My website for more information or to reach me: http://www.liasophia.com/gallaglamour
Hi everyone…I just found this site tonight, WOW. Way to Share the Love of Jewelry! I started selling lia sophia in April in the Indianapolis area and love it.
11/12/07 at 3:49 amSamantha – I too looked at Silpada, I love the look. I love lia sophia becuase it is more versitile and more colorful! Besides the warranty they offer, no one can match them.
Barb – you are correct, you will not get paid for your starter show, but all bookings are yours. Good Luck!
Until the 1st week of December I am offering anyone, anywhere the opportunity to become an advisor for FREE! Contact me to find out how to make $ for the Holdiays and get free jewelry…at no cost to you!

I wish I had such luck with the business. I love the business and want to stay in it and keep trying at it but I’m having an awful time getting it off the ground. I can’t find anyone to have shows for me..no one. I have been trying since August..I have taken 200 flyers to doorsteps, posted on billboards in stores, advertised online, emailed everyone I know, and still nothing. At the monthly meetings everyone who signed on at the same time as me is doing wonderfully. Woe is me!
11/12/07 at 6:39 amHi! I am simply a consumer and am not biased toward Lia Sophia or Premier. The quality of Lia Sophia is much better, in my opinion. The pieces are much sturdier, heavier, adn stronger. Premier seems more cheaply made. However, Premier is less expensive then Lia Sophia (but you get what you pay for). Again, it is a personal preference. Hope this helps!
11/12/07 at 11:20 pmHi, I used to sell Longaberger years ago and although I enjoyed it for awhile I found it tiring from lugging all that stuff to the parties plus it became costly having to buy monthly samples. I just hosted my first Lia Sophia party for a friend that actually just started selling. I am considering taking the plunge again into direct sales and think Lia Sophia may be for me. What I have seen so far with the hostess benefits I am receiving are amazing. What exactly do you get in the kit for $149? Also where do you get your displays and I just read on this site that maybe you don’t make a commision on your first shows? I really know nothing about signing up and want the basics before I go any furthur. Where can I get an overview of the startup of Lia Sophia. Any info would be great..Thanks
11/13/07 at 5:27 amHave read all the posts with interest. Does anyone know anything about Latasia jewelry? They seem to have a fantastic consultant and hostess program. Has anyone seen their jewelry?
11/13/07 at 10:15 pmThat is correct Barb… Your sponsor submits your show to activate you. She earns the profit, and you get the bookings, the hostess perks etc. From then on you earn the commissions as you will be submitting the shows.
You do get recognition credit for the starter show towards your excellent beginnings also. It won’t ever show in your Sales History, only the person who submits has that listed. So do find out the amount so you can figure out your EB needs.
Any more Q’s feel free to PM me.

Barb- You are correct! Your starter show you are the hostess and receive all of the free jewelry to add to your samples with your starter kit!
11/17/07 at 9:04 pmThen your shows booked at your starter show you will schedule and do those shows. lia sophia recommends that you need to call everyone you know and schedule 5 shows in 5 weeks! lia sophia has Excellent Beginnings the first 15 weeks for new Advisors to help you become successful! lia sophia is an awesome family owned business. I have been with lia sophia for 2 1/2 years and a Unit Manager it’s my fun job! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions liasophia.com/lindasjewels or lindasjewel115@verizon.net
I am considering becoming a Lia Sophia Advisor. I love the jewelry. I am afraid customers will be turned off by the prices if the jewelry. Any comments?
11/18/07 at 4:59 amBarb- You will earn $ and free jewelry at your starter show. You will get 30% of the sales if you do your own show. If you have your recruiter do your show, then she will get the comission instead of you. If you meet your starter show goal, the company has a monthly incentive that you will receive, too. If you have any questions visit my page http://www.liasophia.com/mschiess Good luck with your first show!
11/18/07 at 3:34 pmTammy;
11/18/07 at 6:02 pmWhat do you mean by the customer being turned off by the prices?
lia sophia has prices to fit everyone budget! And all of my customer’s are thrilled with the monthly specials which is called the Save Plan, Buy 2 regular and the 3rd item half price and we insist on the half price item being the MOST EXPENSIVE!
Believe me if you love the jewelry you need to join!!!!
Visit my website at liasophia.com/lindasjewels
Tammy, I think many of us may have had that fleeting thought. It’s when you actually look at our catalog that you see 70% of our items are $50 or less. 40% is $30 or less. We even have some $20 or less. There really is a price point for everyone.
Our Everyday Save Plan is what really does draw guests in. Buy 3 items and your most expensive is 1/2 off!
If a guest loves something that is higher priced I always suggest hostessing. We have an unbelievable hostess program. And then the Lifetime Guarantee,..no questions asked… is what cinches it.
And it has a lot to do with our attitude and the verbage we use when we talk about our “pretties”
If you think about it…look what we pay for a neat bowl, or pair of shoes… an item is worth what we feel it is worth…and lia sophia backs up the gorgeous pieces with so much more!
I’d be happy to share more with you if you have questions.
you can contact me via my website.. http://www.liasophia.com/lynnandreske
I do hope you will strongly consider this awesome company. We are ground floor, offer so much potential for your efforts. I have a Nationwide Team and they can tell you how it has changed their lives in a short time. Income, friends, fun, future security.

11/18/07 at 7:59 pmHi Ladies,
Thank you for the feedback. I REALLY do LOVE the jewelry and plan on signing up after the first of the year. I have practically destroyed my one and only catalog drooling over the items I plan on getting. I have been in contact with an Advisor and she has been wonderful in answering my million questions. Thanks again, and the best of luck with your businesses.
11/19/07 at 8:22 amStephanie…
I know this comes after your inquiry about the join-up with lia sophia but just in case you still have questions about the business start up please visit my website where I have a link that answers many common questions regarding lia sophia. Just click on ‘my business’ and there will be a link about answers to questions about joining lia sophia. Also, I have gotten very good prices on jewelry displays at Nilecorp.com They were even cheaper than my local display stores. Good luck and I know you will so very happy with lia sophia! http://www.liasophia.com/arlenewalczak
11/27/07 at 5:48 pmLadies,
I am not a consumer of Lia Sophia nor an advisor, in fact I’ve never even looked at one of the catalogs. I am, however, a husband of a new advisor who can’t keep her mouth shut about Lia Sophia. Everyday another box is dropped off at my door with more jewelery in it. It’s incredible. My wife has been involved with Arbonne for the past two years and has worked her a$$ off but has made more money with Lia Sophia in just one month. Even though I’m not a fan of costume jewelery (in fact I had no idea what is was until my wife explained it to me. After all, with her April birthday I haven’t looked at a piece of jewelery that didn’t have diamonds in it for over eight years now.) even an idiot like me can see the quality and how beautiful the jewelery is.
Probably the most unbelievable part of Lia Sophia from my perspective is how easy is has seems for wife and how much fun she is having. The jewelery sells itself; she gets one if not two bookings from every show she does, guaranteed; she has earned hundreds of dollars (and soon to be thousands of dollars) of free jewelery that she adores; and she has put hundreds of dollars into our bank account (and again, soon to be thousands) for having fun. Unbelievable.
Before my wife started this she said she just wanted some free jewelery and she thought this was the best way to do it. Now she has two and possibly three people interested in becoming advisors themselves and probably won’t be working a 9-5 by next fall. We know a lot of successful entrepeneurs in direct sales and network marketing but there is just something magical about the words FREE and JEWELERY when talking to a woman.
I love you all and good luck.

I love to drop back here from time to time!
Alex– yes as a husband aren’t you just wowed by what lia sophia is offering to your wife and to you!!
One of my teammates is taking her husband to Cancun for 7 days with just some of her earnings and she works her lia sophia business just a few shows per month. She has a busy life but loves getting out of the house for some ladies time, loves wearing the jewelry and is now enjoying spending some CA$$H too!
As our teams grow, they are our best source of references for this great company. They can tell you why they joined, how their UPLINE is doing, what they are winning and earning!
I worked with another DS company for a long time and we were always told for every 3 we had that joined, 2 would not stay.
With lia sophia that is soooo not the case! I don’t know if it’s the jewelry that they become addicted to, the income that seems so easy to earn, the new friendships or personal growth. Maybe a combo of some or all. I’m just glad to see how lia sophia is enhancing their lives…and how they are passing it on.
As a National Team we are building financial independence for ourselves, and we love mixing the different opinions and ideas that come from a diverse group. It helps us all grow a stronger business.
Have a wonderful evening!

This is an awesome site! It is great for advisors to help them handle customer problems. I just joined lia sophia in October and recently met my first Excellent Beginnings goal. I love this company and wish I had found it at 18, before I went $20,000 in debt for college! I’m from Monroeville, IN and if anyone is interested in booking a show visit my website http://www.liasophia.com/jessica forks.
12/11/07 at 8:23 pmNot sure if anyone will get this any time soon… but…
I am wondering, I am a teacher, a newlywed, and a new homeowner. As you can guess, my husband and I would love to have some extra money at the end of every month. I am interested in Lia Sophia, but I really am NOT interested in getting promotions and climbing the LS ladder. Im wondering if that is ok? I really want to be successful, but I want this to be a true part time kind of thing. Is it frowned upon to go into this type of business and know that you want to stay as a plain old adviser? Like I said, Im very interested in doing this, and I LOVE the product, but I dont want to get into something if i NEED to try to move up the ladder.
Please let me know what you think.
12/15/07 at 4:15 amAny lia sophia advisors in the Greensboro,NC area have some catalogs to sell? Thought I could wait ’til Jan to purchase some at a discount and just got an opportunity to do a show this weekend. carla@eyecandylady.com Thanks!

12/21/07 at 6:02 pmAnswers to questions you might have about joining lia sophia with ME!
When you start your search for the perfect direct selling or home party line business, here are some valuable questions to ask when comparing companies and opportunities. I have filled in the answers regarding the Lia Sophia Jewelry advisor opportunity.
1. Start up cost should be minimal. Start up cost in direct selling and network marketing companies are usually modest and mainly to cover the cost of the sales kit. What is their start up cost? What comes in the kit? Start up kit for lia sophia advisors cost $149 which includes 24 pieces of jewelry, jeweler’s carrying case, 1†display tray, set of 2 foam sheets, merchandise stock list, excellent beginnings DVD & beyond training program, display cloth, ring sizer, 200 colored invitations, guest lists, customer selection tickets, hostess envelopes, wish lists, hostess selection & order summary sheets as well as 20 catalogs. I offer anyone that joins my team an incentive, if you have 3 shows that total at least $1,500 in your first 5 weeks, I will give you an additional $100 jewelry certificate to use towards jewelry to add to your kit for displays.
2. Some companies require a monthly purchase. Is there a monthly minimum purchase requirement and if so, how much is the monthly investment? Lia sophia has no monthly requirements or minimums. To be considered active you must have $250 in sales in a quarter.
3. Most companies submit the local state sales tax, however, there are a few that do not. Will I be required to submit my own state sales tax? No, lia sophia does that for you.
4. Check with each company regarding their return policy. This will be vital to your business. Can I return unwanted or damaged products and if so, what is the return policy? This is one of the wonderful things about lia sophia. They have a Lifetime Replacement Guarantee on all of the jewelry for customers and advisors. What is really nice is all returns from customers are done directly between the customer and the company. The advisor has nothing to do with it once the sale is complete. There is no charge for returns or exchanges for 120 days. After that, there is a $5.00 fee for the customer.
5. Do you have a buy-back policy? Some companies offer to buy back unsold marketable products purchased within 12 months prior, should you decide to quit the business for 90% of the price you originally paid. Do they offer a buy back policy? For a period of one year the company will take back any unused jewelry or supplies still in its original packaging, provided it can be resold as part of the current line. Credit will be at 90% of the amount paid. Any past due amounts will be applied before rebate is paid.
6. Some companies require independent representatives to pay for portions of the hostess gifts, etc. You should know up front whether part of your commission earned will go to cover these costs. This will reduce the actual amount of commissions earned. Am I required to cover part of the hostess gifts or pay admin. Fees, etc.? The only fee towards the hostess plan is $6.00. That is the only amount that is subtracted from your commission check. Another benefit of lia sophia compared to other direct sales companies is that we earn commission on all half price items, including those purchased by the hostess. So if your show total is $500, your commission would be $144.00 which is $500 minus x 30% minus $6.00.
7. It is always smart to compare catalog and supplies cost as they vary by company. What do your catalogs and paperwork cost? Catalogs are $6.50 for a pack of 10. Invitations cost $4.00 for 100. Wish lists cost $2.00 for pad of 50. Hostess summary sheet $1.25 for 12. Guest list $3.75 for 12. Sales slips $2.25 for 50. Plus lia sophia has a printable section on their web site for advisors to print off some supplies for free.
8. Customer shipping charges are important to your business and can vary greatly from company to company. What are the customer shipping charges? And consultant shipping charges for supplies and orders? Lia Sophia charges a flat $3.80 per order no matter what the size. Advisors are also charged $3.80 for any order whether it be supplies or samples no matter how big or small.
9. It is customary for companies to have a monthly or quarterly sales requirement to stay active and/or receive overrides. What is the monthly/quarterly requirements? There are no sales requirements as an advisor. When or if you decide to move up with the company and become a manager, you then need to have $1,500 in personal sales a month with a total of $5,000 team sales in a month to earn commission on your downline.
10. If you plan to participate in local fairs, festivals or events, you will want to know whether the company allows you to sell cash & carry items. Many will not as they prefer representatives to provide one on one customer support and book to increase sales. Do you allow representatives to sell products at local fairs and events? You may have a stand at any event and sell products however, we do not sell the kind of product that requires an inventory to carry.
11. Many companies provide representatives with a company approved website. If you plan to market your business online, this will be vital to your success. Does your company provide a website and if so, what is the cost? If they do not, can I design my own? Yes, lia sophia has company approved websites that you can buy for $9.95 a month and you may set your own preferences to the site to make it your own.
12. Some companies authorize representatives to deduct their commissions prior to sending in the show order, while others require all monies collected forwarded to home office and then commission checks are issued monthly or twice per month. How are you required to submit payment for a show? All money from the show is submitted to the company and lia sophia sends you a commission check weekly or you can sign up for direct deposit.
13. Many companies now ship their products directly to the consumer or hostess, however, there are a few that require the representatives to deliver a show or products. Am I required to deliver products? No, all party orders are sent to the hostess and all individual sales are sent to the individual.
14. With some opportunities, representatives are encouraged to stock products to have on hand for eager customers. Will I be required to stock or carry inventory? No, we do not stock or carry inventory.
15.Most companies allow their representatives to purchase products or display items at a special discount. Are representatives allowed to purchase products at a discount and if so, what is the discount? As an active advisor, you will enjoy a discount of 70% on jewelry samples. You may only purchase one of each item. Twice a year prior to a new catalog coming out, the company offers the chance for you to earn a privilege purchase of a 77% discount on jewelry.
16. What is your commission structure? Advisors earn 30% on all personal sales. When you recruit 3 people and have monthly team sales of $5,000 and a minimum of $1,500 from you, you can become a manager and earn 40% commission on your personal sales and 10% commission on your recruits retail sales.
17.Does lia sophia offer additional incentives, such as trips, a cash bonus and etc.? Yes, there is a trip you can earn yearly. They also offer an excellent beginnings program for new advisors to earn up to $600 in free jewelry certificates for reaching certain sales levels in their first 15 weeks of business. The company also offers monthly contests and incentives as well.
18.What type of support is available? First of all, the support of me, my manager and her upline. Not to mention all the support from the company. They offer incentives monthly for sales levels reached. There is a special section on the advisor advantage website that is called lia sophia university and the company is constantly adding new things to help with our business. I will personally do everything I can to help you succeed no matter what your goal with lia sophia is, we will work together.
As with any business, finding what works for you and your lifestyle will be the key. Take time to research opportunities and consider whether the business and support team are a good match for you. Call me today!

Hi Becky,
Your scenario is very typical =)
I have several teammates in similiar situations.
Getting married soon, wanting to pay for the wedding.
Having a baby and wanting the expenses paid, and the flexibility down the road.
Getting a new car or home and wanting to have lia sophia cover those expenses…but not really wanting to make a career of this.
We can work out a schedule that gets you what you need in the most efficient manner without running into your teacher prep time, school hours/schedule and without taking up too much of your down time. I ran an inhome daycare for 15 years…so I know downtime is cherished! =)
With a new home you probably have many projects going! My dear hubby is in housing and we have lived in about 20 in our 27 years together =) I know they can be a wonderful thing and a money pit at the same time!!
Some lia sophia Uplines require you to do xx amount of shows, to have xx amount of shows lined up before you can join them, require you to do so many on a monthly basis. That is NOT my philosophy. I want the business to be YOUR business with my guidance helping you to get the success you want! True Corp. guidelines require a show only every 12 weeks to remain active, and they stress in their literature that this should be whatever it is you might need from being associated with lia sophia Jewelry.
It is true that if you move to Mgmt you make more, but there is more required of you then also. And as I stated, it is not a necessary path to follow.
There is a lot of great info on the posts here as to HOW lia sophia works and what it can offer to you. What really works well is to speak one/one and interview whomever you might wish to learn more about/from, and see if the mesh is good, the particulars are what you need/want. Then make a decision. At that point you can say ..Hey, I need to make $xx per month to help my family out. What would I have to do on average to get there?
I furnish references from my teammates, and I’d love to speak with you in person. I have teammates all over the US, working at their own pace, and would be comfortable with helping to set you up also.
I have a great New Start Welcome pack that enhances the Starter Kit. All the paperwork in hard copy and on cd to get you going so that you are in business, not trying to figure out the business.
My website is http://www.liasophia.com/lynnandreske You can see a little more about me there and email me through it also.
Or contact me direct at dreamininginblue@hotmail.com
This is an awesome time to start with the great Jan. specials and the new catalog coming up!
I look forward to hearing from you.

I’m also amazed but not shocked at the response and demand for this jewelry. I LOVE IT and it’s great!! Styles to fit everyone taste. Honestly how I got involved with this company was by how easy it looked setting it up and how fun it was to mingle with the ladies for a fun evening out. We get paid to Party!! This company fits into any lifestyle(full or part-time) and I’m also interested in making this full time when my family life allows me to do so. I started this up not long ago and have moved twice so it’s been hard for me to start back up. I’m now located in San Antonio, TX and looking to build a team. I’m also not into setting high standard goals but helping my team out to achive their own goals. I’m a stay-at-home mom and understand how demanding our lives can be. I’m really looking for a team that can support eachother and come up with ideas to help eachother out. If anyone is in the area looking to join a wonderful company with great incentives for advisors, hostesses and their customers please contact me at http://www.liasophia.com/fashiongems
1/4/08 at 5:39 amWow…I am starting to feel very defeated. I joined lia sophia in August and still to this day have not been able to get anyone to book a show. I just don’t understand it. I have done everything I possibly know of. I have passed out over 200 flyers in my neighborhood with several offers to them, put out notices on boards in stores, worn the jewelry as advertisement and when I get complimented I genuinely thank them and hand them a business card and tell them to contact me and they will be able to get this piece for free, offered incentives such as free gift cards from stores and restaurants for having shows, offered pre-wrapped gift certificates with catalogue as an idea for gift giving, offered cash for having a show, done vendor and craft shows, advertised online shows in other states, willing to go to other states to do shows(a state I am thinking of moving to), and still nothing. I even had to be the only guests at my own starter show…meaning I am the one that acted as hostess and guest and bought over $250 in jewelry just to get my business going. My original starter show ended up with only 3 friends showing up and only one order…no one wanted to have a show! I have given the jewelry away as a present to a few just to show them how wonderful the jewelry is and they all oooh and aaagh at it but no one wants a show. For Christmas, I let my son take to 2 of his favorite teachers, a beautifully wrapped Christmas present….when they open it up they see a lia sophia catalogue and a beautiful gift certificate created by me on parchment paper with matching envelope sealed with a golden emblem…the gift certificate is for any item up to $100 value for FREE. Of course it will only cost me at the most $15 for their gift. I put an expiration date on it as well. From what my son said they were both delighted. Yet still no order from them. I let them order either by calling me or emailing with the order number. Do you think maybe they didn’t order because they thought I would hit them up to have a show? I just don’t get it. I still don’t want to give up although I have now joined another company that features romantic type things just to see if my problem is that no one around me wants jewelry. All I can say over and over out loud to myself is I just don’t get it, I just don’t get it! I don’t smell, I dress appropriately, I speak appropriately, I am well mannered. I think maybe because I just didn’t have enough friends to get the ball rolling. Seems that is how most get started. If so then I am still going to get the same results with the other company I joined no matter what the product! Reading all the great luck everyone else is having DOES keep me going though! I know one thing, when the time comes I sure will have a heck of a success story to tell on stage at the conventions! LOL.
1/4/08 at 9:09 pmI forgot to ask. If anyone has any advice for me I am more than willing to listen. My next step is maybe get a car magnet for more advertising. Hmmmm maybe I should go into the advertising business! http://www.liasophia.com/arlenewalczak
1/4/08 at 9:14 pmI have been researching different jewelry companies..and I am so glad that I found this site! I have never thought about doing parites…but with a one year old and a two year old…I would LOVE to get out of the house and make some MONEY! I have tried to contact the Lia Sophia advisor in my area but haven’t heard back. I don’t see where I can sign up online…any suggestions???
1/7/08 at 4:25 amArlene,
1/8/08 at 10:14 pmHow about open houses?
My very first experience with Lia Sophia has been less than favorable. I purchased two necklaces and both chains broke on their first wearing! One necklace had a clasp that was inferior and would not stay closed and the other necklace’s chain broke where it should have been soddered but appeared to have been glued in place. I wasn’t expecting such poor quality from Lia Sophia especially after carefully choosing from their lovely, high-end glossy catalog. Clearly, appearances can be deceiving!

Hello all!! I am obsessed with reading on this site and searching all that I can find out about selling jewelery. I met with someone with Premiere Designs a year ago. I loved the jewelery and she was great and seems to do very well with the company. But, I have never been able to save the money to join. Lia Sophia, seems to be more affordable to join. Is there anyone that can tell me about how many advisors are in Iowa. I live in Webster City and if someone could e-mail me and let me know. Also if someone could send me information packet. I would love it!!
Thank-you

Hello all – I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed this site! I am a fairly new advisor (since September 07) and have moderate success so far…
My favorite part of selling is my presentation. I love to have an exciting party that gets the party going rather it is for a bride or a teen getting ready for the prom, or a girls night out event.
I am always looking for new activities to engage my guests – since there is so much experience out there I was hoping you could float me some ideas to keep things fun.
Thanks!

1/12/08 at 9:50 pmLia Sophia saved my future. The jewelry is affordable, fun and I love the ladies I meet when I do my parties. For the ladies that are having problems with a piece of jewelry, the company has a LIFETIME REPLACEMENT value so if it is tarnished, worn or turning your finger green, send it back and it will be replaced or you can pick anything else of same value. As for the ladies using jewelry cleaner, DON’T. Our products do not do well with alcohol and there is that in jewelry cleaner. It will tarnish your piece and over time wear down the shine and metals/gems in the product. Regular soap and water will take care of any cleaning needed.
1/13/08 at 4:31 amFor anyonw looking to start a business at no cost, let me know. I am working on this years trip to the Caribbean and with many recruits under me, will be on that trip getting a gorgeous tan. Lia Sophia is a company waiting to make any womens dreams become their reality and I am living proof of this. I have recruited many women who have had a life changing experience because of this company, including myself. So contact me at richannm@yahoo.com or call me at 603-661-3635
Becky, in response to your request. Lia Sophia is a business that you design the way you want to work it. Being an advisor is wonderful and you do not have to climb any ladder unless you want to. It is your business to work parties the time you want to work them. There are minimal requirements but that is only when you start. You have to have 5 shows in 3 weeks to qualify. I personally sponser anyone who joins my team by paying for their start up cost. i invest in your future and as long as you qualify within the first three weeks, the rest of the way you run YOUR business is just your business. If you want more information contact me at http://www.liasophia.com/annrichmond or richannm@yahoo.com. Best of luck with your decisions. I made the best decision for my future when I joined Lia Sophia and have been truly happy ever since, and having lots of fun.

Hello,
I can’t believe that someone wouldn’t contact you to start selling. Please contact me if you are interested. I am a manager and have experience training people the right way(even over video web cam). Let me know if you need more information. I can send you plenty of reading material on the company. This is a no pressure situation. If you need something in your life….money, time away from home, friends, or whatever. Lia Sophia has helped plenty of women make their financial hardships a problem of the past. And it is a company that has support at your fingertips.

1/15/08 at 5:51 pmann- to have 5 shows in 3 weeks – is your requirement, not the companys!! you only need to submit a party every 12 weeks to remain active. the startup of this business is risk free. Do as much or as little as you want.
Myself and my upline do not require anything from our recruits in terms of shows or $$. Its all what the person can and wants to make of it. If they do 2 shows, the 30% commission from both at minimum covers the starter kit. If you are considering the business, so not fall for the “I will pay for your kit” Gimic. They are just looking to make $$ off you and that in turn pays for the kit. Support and help are more important and valuable than a free kit.
Email me and we can talk!

Personally, I think all party plan things are a huge rip off for consumers and the people who host the parties. You may make okay money for a little while, but be SURE you don’t make any long term commitments to the company because it could fall apart at any time. I think the Lia Sophia jewelry is beautiful, but there is also a lot of truly beautiful jewelry at Kohls and Boston Store and other department stores that you can get on sale for less than half the price of the Lia Sophia stuff. Plus, any good consumer knows that lifetime warranties with “catches” (i.e., you need the “order number”, etc.) are just ways that the company keeps people from REALLY being able to exchange or return things. If they make a product, they can identify it and they should exchange it. And by the way, the ONLY thing (besides using lotion) that will make rings turn your fingers green is cheap manufacturing. Quality jewelers who sell gold, silver, platinum, etc. will tell you that your finger won’t turn green if the quality of the item is high. Please, Lia Sophia “advisors” (HA!) don’t mislead your customers! I also was AMAZED to see the posting by someone who said she made $8,000-$10,000 a month on the parties!! Please! How many parties would that add up to? Kind of hard to beieve, to say the least.
1/16/08 at 2:37 amOh and by the way, I HAVE purchased from Lia Sophia. Had all kinds of problems with a purchase of over $200, some meant as gifts that I wouldn’t give to my friends after the junk I purchased for myself fell apart or turned black. And their refund/exchange system is a huge joke.
1/16/08 at 2:49 amHello ALL! I just came back from Success Camp..the Debbie Rotkvich Group downline.
Walked across stage 3 times!! Now that is exhilerating!
Our training sessions were awesome and I picked up many valuable tidbits to help with my downline training!
I also attended some fantastic training sessions with the Corp. people…all I can say is WOW!!!
Ladies considering lia sophia..now is the time! They have some fabulous new ideas in the works to enhance our ease of doing business and blow out the competition…and rewards aplenty are coming our way!!
Don’t wreak yourself considering the opportunity! Jump in, buy the kit, give it 5 weeks. Give it your all, then take a look and decide if lia sophia is a good fit for you too!
If yes..well you’ve got $1050+ in jewelry from the kit, all of your jewelry as a hostess at your starter show, the premiums for working your business for the first 5 weeks, the show income too!!! YEAH you made some good dollars…should be well over $1000 !!
You’ve made new friends, grown and stretched as a person!
If you decide it’s not for you…you’ve still got all the above, and can walk away not wondering and with some good new things in jewelry box and your life thanks to the $$$ =)
And if you’re a guy…hey I met 4 at our Success Camp. They rock! I’m blessed to have met them and get the GUY perspective on why we women love our jewelry!!
Hugs to all…contact me if I can help you! On the way, let’s share this journey!!

Jane,
I am really sorry to hear that you feel this way, but by no means is our jewelry junk – we just learned that with 28,000 advisors only – we are the leading direct selling jewelry company in the nation. I don’t think that we would have gotten that far with “junk”. If I am being a little defensive, sorry – but lia sophia is such a wonderful company to work for that I feel the need to defend what I love. The lifetime guarantee is AWESOME – I want to know where you don’t need a receipt to return anything. The company is protecting us, it’s advisors, by making sure that you have your receipt. The company is committed to us – they only want the jewelry sold by us at our home parties and that receipt guarantees that you purchased the jewelry from an active advisor. I make sure that I ask my guests to save their receipt, but if any one of my guests loses their receipt – I keep my paperwork and can copy a receipt for them. I was doing a lot of reading today on the internet because I wanted to have some information/comparisons on different jewelry and jewelry companies and I came across much information about FINE jewelry causing someone’s finger to turn colors – I know it personally because my wedding band has caused my finger to discolor a couple times in my 13 year marriage – and that is my proof that what I have eaten, medicine I have taken, cosmetic I have used is the cause – if you say my wedding ring is cheap, my husband will drop to the floor. About the income potential – I know that it’s hard to believe, but the money is incredible. In retrospect to what other managers have, my business is pretty small – I have a team of about 8 active 1st line advisors and 12 active 2nd line advisors and I do about 6/8 parties a month – my income is between $4k and $5k a month. I have never been one to want to talk about what I made in other jobs – but lia sophia is an opportunity that I want to share with everyone – it truly is phenominal!! You said not to make any long term commitments to the company because it can fall apart at any minute – unfortunately, that is anything in life and we can’t live everyday wondering if/when something is going to fall apart – we have to seize the opportunity and the day.
Do you know the advisor that you purchased your pieces from? If you do, please contact her – she should be able to give you all of the information you need to return your pieces. Contact the hostess that had the party – I am sure she can get you in touch with her.
I appreciate your comments – we all see things differently and I respect your opinion.
BUT I LOVE lia sophia!!!!!!!!!
1/18/08 at 1:37 amHello ladies- I happened to find this site when looking for more info on Lia Sophia. Just a little about my background…I attended my first Lia Sophia show in October ‘07 at a friend’s house, and she had a huge turnout, there was the “Buy 2 get up to 4 items at half off” promo, so I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, both with the product and the presentation. I decided to book my own show, but did not have the great turnout I had hoped. Still I was able to get lots of good stuff at my show. I traveled the “circle” of shows and got very familiar with the products and gained a huge love for the jewelry and purchased it at every opportunity. My advisor, who was brand new in the business, told me that even though she wasn’t focusing on recruiting, she thought that I would be good in the business. After serious pondering, I have decided to take the plunge. My “starter show” will be in February, and I can’t wait. Here’s my dilemma… I have previously been in direct sales with other products, with little to no success. My problem is that I don’t have a big “circle of friends.” And since many of these ones in my “circle” just recently hosted parties for my advisor, I’m afraid that I won’t do well with bookings. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get bookings in a non-traditional sort of way? Is there anything special I can offer as an incentive for booking (obviously, the hostess program speaks for itself, but in case that’s not enough)? My main goal is to get outside of my comfort zone to expand my business to people I wouldn’t normally approach, or use methods that may not be conventional but work. Any suggestions?
1/21/08 at 5:42 amHi ladies! I’ve been with lia sophia for over a year now, and I just happened across this site! It’s been fun to read your posts. I love my job to pieces, and was actually able to quit my full-time job to persue lia sophia full-time!! It was pretty crazy – I was making more money in lia sophia then with my full-time job after I had my Master’s Degree in Marketing! However, my team loves that I have that marketing background because it helps our team out so much!! My sister has FINALLY decided to start selling lia sophia, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I’ve been trying to tell her what an awesome oppurtunity this is for….only 14 months:-).
Hope all others in the business have having a great January!

Hi Ladies,
I have been with lia sophia since August of 2007. I also do not have a huge circle of friends that are willing to have parties. Plus I joined with my best friend which made it difficult because we have similar friends. I have not yet been as successful as I would like to be. But I am so determined this year! I’ve got 3 bookings for February, though I would like more, and one for March already. I’m really excited about it and am hoping to make my business grow big! I am currently a full time teacher, and would love to make lia sophia my career so that I can be at home to raise my future children. I know the potential is there, I’ve seen it! I know the opportunity is there… I’ve seen that also! Stephanie, as far as reaching out to others, your best tool for advertisement is word of mouth. I just asked my girlfriends to take catalogs and flyers to their offices for more exposure. But talk it up, talk it up!! Offer to do fundraisers for the PTA at your local schools and donate a percentage of your commission to the committee. Get ahold of those moms! Drop a catalog and flyers off at salons, offices, etc. Any business lunch room is a room for exposure! Join Myspace and get yourself out there! There’s a discussion group on there as well. Check out this website, it’s got a ton of useful information and printables! I’ve already revamped some to fit my business. http://www.abunchofgems.com Good luck with it!
1/22/08 at 2:22 amHi Stephanie, Talk to your UPLINE, she should be able to tell you how to network in those ‘non-traditional’ ways. And if she isn’t experienced enough, speak to her UPLINE. Truly that is her job to be helping you get the training you need.
Our group has several different lists of ways to help get out there!
She most likely does too…
Good LUCK!!
1/22/08 at 7:16 amLia Sophia Advisor agreement clearly states that Booking 6 shows in your first 3 weeks gives you the Excellent Beginning you need to get your business rolling. To qualify as an advisor you need to have a minimum of 3 shows, not including your start show, before your first 5 weeks in the business for a sales total of $1500.00. Our division invest in our recruits future by paying for the starter kit, so it is not a GIMMICK.
1/23/08 at 1:46 amWe also invest time, energy, education and hand holding with new recruits until they feel confident to do the shows, paperwork, ordering, etc on their own. This business has opened a world of opportunity to many women who do not have the initial investment money to start up on their own as many business’s require. There are pro’s and con’s to the start up investment but I have been blessed with a great team of women who I have invested my time and money in for their future. Plus they can call me any time of the day or night. That is what I love about Lia Sophia, it has some basic guidelines but the rest is up to the person who basically is in business for themself with a company to back them up with many benefits.
I’m interested in signing up to sell Lia Sophia! I live in Central Ca and there are not that many advisors here; maybe I can count them on one hand. I am already involved with one direct sales company. I am wanting to do my own starter show and am wondering if this is possible to do? Does is just depend on the advisor you sign up under that allows you to do so? There are a few girls in my area, but I’m looking for the right “fit” and leadership style to answer questions and lend support when needed (no matter how far away) Please contact me if you have leads in California. thanks:)!!
1/24/08 at 1:44 amI’m not thrilled so far with the customer service at Lia Sophia… I had a party and did not get the deal I expected; instead of resolving the order, we returned the whole thing to start over. I was quickly charged for my new order, but it took 6 weeks to process the return only to find out they don’t return cash for the hostess bonus items. They’re still working on it, and in the meantime, they took 2 months to refund $140, and still waiting on the other $70…

1/24/08 at 6:04 pmLenora,
I would be happy to talk with you about the lia sophia opportunity. You definitly can do your own starter show if you feel comfortable – with the starter kit, there is tons of training information – not to mention the information that you should receive from the advisor you sign up with and from the computer. Since you are already in direct sales, I am sure you know what you are doing and just need to learn lia sophia.
Please contact me if you would like more information or just to talk.

1/25/08 at 11:55 pmHi, I recently had a Lia Sophia party and purchased 2 rings with my credit from having the show. Was very disappointed that yes they did turn my fingers green. Very very green. I was very upset about it all, and after talking to many people have learned that not everyone’s skin is gonna react the same way to the jewlery. I will tell you that my first impression of Lia Sophia was Fabulous, then turned to real crap after that incident, and now I signed on to sell Lia Sophia and have my first show next week. Couldn’t be more excited about it all!

Good Luck to you all, and if you had a bad expierence seriously give it one more chance you could totally change your mind.

2/2/08 at 12:12 amWelcome Nichole, What a story you have! What finally put you over the fence on lia sophia?
Most often the reason a finger discolors is due to the PH level in your body. Eating acidy foods such as tomatoes can up that PH and cause a reaction. Sometimes, sprays, lotions, creams can have the same effect. I tell ladies, put it on all over excpet where your jewelry lays. And I give each guest a polish/cleaner cloth to take good care of their pieces. =)
I just wanted to share that I was on a cruise last week off the West Coast and I saw soooo many women with lia sophia on. Dressing up night was full of gorgeous outfits and lots of lia sophia bling! I almost wished I had taken the kit and done a show onboard!! Especially the day we were unable to disembark due to high choppy waters.
Have a great week everyone!

2/13/08 at 9:04 pmI’m a Lia Sophia advisor and just started at the end of January. I’ve had a fabulous month in February, I had 8 shows, and sold over $3000 in jewelry and had two woment sign on, and I might have a third one signing on when she has her show this coming Friday. I’ve been invited to a fashion show to set up a display, which I’m really excited about, and now have been invited to a house warming party right on the water. The lady I’ll be doing the party for, is making her house warming into a charity function, and so I’m planning to offer to split my commission to put towards the charity (Breast Cancer). I was just curious if anybody else has done a charity function and what they did for it. Just trying to get some more ideas before I talk to the lady. Any advise is greatly and warmly appreciated.
Best Wishes,

HI Erin, congrats on your success. lia sophia is really what we say it will be isn’t it? I love sharing this great business with anyone that will listen!
When you do your event, your 1st goal of course is to get lots of sales for the cause. You must decide what % of your profit you wish to donate. Perhaps you Upline can direct you in that area.
Personally, I donate about 50% to a cause, more if it is a near/dear to my heart cause. Then I do 90% of my profit. I ALWAYS let the group know this is % after my expenses.
What I would do is put out a great display with a couple of nicely done poster in frames of what % you are donating and the name of the cause.
Also, put out a sign with your WONDERFUL booking offers. You might consider retro-giving of a small % of future bookings sales(only those directly booked would be covered..not the later chains that would come) This would probably help the bookings come in.
You might offer a door prize of a great HOSTESS gift certificate at a show she would hostess. This would weed out the not interested in anything but the prize people! And you know all those who enter would truly be wanting to hostess with you!!
Good Luck..please let us know how it turns out!
LYNN
2/27/08 at 3:05 pmI also just recently purchased 2 rings from Lia Sophia and I will never buy their jewelry again. They both turned my finger green. I even asked at the party (when I found out that it wasn’t sterling silver), “Will it turn my finger green”? I was told no. As far as people saying put clear coat nail polish on the ring. Why would you pay so much for jewelry and then put clear coat nail polish on it? That’s ridiculous. Luckily I am under the 45 day return, so I will be getting a full refund.
2/28/08 at 5:45 pmLenora-
I am a brand new advisor for Lia Sophia. I just signed on and am actually having a party in central ca. (modesto area) on April 6th. I just got my starter kit and it has great training videos and all the supplies needed to have a party. If you are interested in finding out any information about the company and what we do I would be more than happy to help you. I will also be in the modesto area from April 5th-April 8th if you wanted to sit down and chat. Good Luck and email me wuth any questions or concerns.

3/1/08 at 7:07 amTina, I know you are disappointed but I want to share with you some info on jewerly and the body chemistry a person has.
Some people have a high acidy ph in their bodies and therefore some metals react to that.
Washing your hands in harsh soaps, using creams, cleaning products with FASHION jewelry on sometimes causes them to have a reaction.
I’m sorry you did with your rings. lia sophia sells hundreds of thousands of rings and only a very small percentage of the wearers have any sort of issue with theirs. That tells us that it is NOT the ring but the elements it has been exposed to..again the cleaners, lotions, etc or what the person wearing them has been eating! I know even with my very expensive wedding rings that if I eat tomatoey foods for a few days in a row I will see a black ring on my finger under the band of my wedding ring.
I do hope you will fill out our LIFETIME Unconditional Guarantee paperwork and return the rings and get something you will enjoy!
You can feel free to contact me through my website or via email if you have any questions on how to do that.
Regards,
Lynn Andreske
3/4/08 at 9:24 pmHello,
3/8/08 at 11:16 pmLike most people interested in joining we all wonder how the heck are we going to jump start our OWN business thru someone else’s. As I read each one of these blogs I am still left wondering, as a full time college student, mother & wife who has currently been laid off, how can I began a network of people to join MY business? knowing my circle of friends is small. And lets face it most of them have sold or bought thru Lia Sophia and aren’t very much interested. My fear is spending the $149 and then having one show of friends who only came to support me in the beginning, and buy so that maybe I wouldn’t “bother” them later on. What advise if any, do I keep trying and not feel like this was a waste of my money? I WANT to sell, but I hate the hassle of bothering others to do so.
Start your lia sophia business in April with a $600 starter party and earn a $100 jewelry certificate from lia sophia. Join my team risk free! Ask me how!

Tina –
I know it is super frustrating to purchase something only to find out it does not work for you. Unfortunately, rings turning a finger green are not the fault of the jewelry. This can happen with solid gold or fine jewelry as well. Don’t take my word for it, try Googling “ring turns finger green” and read some of the results. It can be caused by many things, such as acidity levles in the skin, chemical reactions between your finger and the metal (prescious or otherwise), perspiration, lotions/soaps used, etc. The list goes on. I have had this happen to only a few of my clients and I typically suggest they return the rings and buy a different type of jewelry if they are having issues.
Hope this helps!

I can say that I was nervous to start with this business. My recruiter did not push me and i kept coming around to the thought of the extra money and the risk free advantage. Its 149 – i like the jewelry anyway. give it my best shot and see where it goes. Every business has its ups and downs. I have really given things a “i’ll give it a shot” attitude and I have done well for the past 6 months and am ready to move up to unit manager. I dedicate a lot of time to my team and hostesses to partner with them for success. It really has been an easy sell with the jewelry – I am always getting complements and in the end its a situation that i can just walk away from if its not working out or profitable and I get to keep the jewelry and money. I dont see that happening, but its nice to know I am not stuck!
Best wishes in each of your decisions and future business ventures.

Hi Janet, I think most women/men considering lia sophia as a business have the same worries, I know I did, after I signed up =)
But you know what…I had an open house to start and invited everyone I knew(I made a long list of contacts from back in years to the present and sent/dropped off a BUSINESS DEBUT invite. Told them to keep a copy and pass it on. For anyone they referred to me that came and purchased they would receive a $5 gift card towards their order (limit5)
I posted copies on BB all over town, sent out a ton of emails to remote people. Handed out invites to car washers, bank tellers, shop keepers, librarians..EVERYONE. I knew to not pre-judge.
I told everyone I had a gift certificate to give away as the door prize of a up to $100 item for FREE!!
If you brought people you got extra chances, you got chances for every $5 you spent on an order. etc.
And I offered everyone who booked their THANK you gift of any item up to $100 for $2!! It got me a total of 6 bookings. I held that oen house in the a.m. one Sat and at 3 p.m. I did my first solo show.
As to the teammate additions, I will sincerely say that if you are in lia sophia for just the bodies on a team and the numbers to move you up, it shows.
If you are in lia sophia to be a business, and in due course really want to help others have what you have and are willing to work with them for as long as it takes and mentor them to success, it will come back and you will reap the rewards.
From the mentoring I do online to the people I meet in person, I love what I do and work very hard to have each teammate find success on their terms. We all have a different definition. =)
I’ve added 5 new teammates Since March 1. They are a work in progress, and we are becoming friends, family and business associates.
They will learn to ‘do’ the business and then pay it forward.
It really is your attitude. If you think they will book/join they will…if you think they won’t they probably won’t!
Talk to the person offering to sponsor you in about networking ideas. And if you have not yet found a comfortable sponsor feel free to email me at
dreaminginblue@hotmail.com or link me through my website below. There is alot to consider when starting a business.
Whomever you join with, you should interview thoroughly. Ask what they require, what their guidelines are, how do they train, what are their hours of support/contact time. Do they have a team now, are they career mode, FT, PT. What do they offer to you if you join with their Unit. Do they have incentives, fun stuff, –mesh your personality to the Sponsor as you will be associated with this person for as long as you are in lia sophia.
Doing the research, and asking for referrals of their teammates will tell you so much. There are some very rigid Units out there, and there are those more laid back. Find your best fit.
Being near your Upline or Remote…either can work. It’s really a matter of contact, and communication.
Best wishes…let me know if I can help.

3/19/08 at 3:22 pmI have been a Lia Sophia Advisor for just under a year. I love the jewerly, the benefits for the hostess, the vacations you can earn. They truely are a great company to work for. As for returning the jewerly, they are one of the best companies out there. I had a customer who returned a necklace and got back the money plus the $ 5.00 that she sent them. I have just recently sent back some items. I have had no problems with them. They work with you. All you have to work with them. as with any company.
If I can anwer any questions anyone might have regarding Lia Sophia please contact me. or check out my website.

3/19/08 at 10:05 pmHi everyone! I have been a lia sophia advisor since December. I am truly enjoying it, but have been having a difficult time getting anyone to book a show. I don’t like to be too pushy and have tried the chocolate game…does anyone have some good ideas that I may be able to use?! I’m even thinking about advertising somewhere…any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks so much!! : )
3/25/08 at 6:08 pmHi Brooke, I have not had much success with ladies in our area when I have everyone take something and take a chance.
I now simply let them know that their hostess is looking for two great guests that would really enjoy having some FREE jewelry and a fun couple hours with their friends. That by doing so, their hostess will receive 40% HC..(explain that of course)
I give the hostess a box with 4 cutsey ribbons on it and tell her it is her job to keep that visible and waive it past her friends from time to time.
Make it fun. If they wish to book a show they take a ribbon and show it to me.
What I have discovered is that some ladies don’t want to be the center of attention or feel uncomfortable in front of others if they say YES!during those chance games.
So I let everyone know I don’t do the ‘trick you’ games for booking. I have cute little somethings out and they ALL have a booking certficate in them for extra HC if they are interested. And I say WHY? Simply because I want to work with hostesses who want to have a show, not ones who were coerced. I then go on to tell them this is my career and I take it seriously and when I work I pay my bills too. So, it is important to me that I have an excited hostess!
I think my guests appreciate the honesty. And since I have done this the bookings come easier.
Generally I play a game that passes a gift or now the Purse Game that leads into 21 Q’s.
As to advertising I believe in it. I don’t see a lot of sales from it or phone calls either. BUT I do get name recognition, so that when I am out and about and am introduced, I hear ..Oh I saw your name in the paper. It has taken maybe 9 months or so of ads, and blurps to get it rolling, but now I have places and people contacting me. That is wonderful!
Good Luck Brooke, It does take effort and you have to be willing to work the networking and contact side of the business to make this work.

Hello Everyone ~
I have been with lia sophia since 2002 and everything everyone is saying from the success of getting their business started to the struggles of getting bookings is all part of making you and your business STRONG! If it all came easy you wouldn’t have anything to work toward! Every day you need to beleive that you can do better than the day before – This is an incredible opportunity and an incredible company. lia sophia offers beautiful jewelry at affordable prices with an unbeatable guarantee. You will be amazed how easy the bookings will come. You don’t need a large chain of freinds – you meet them along the way
Investing $149.00 is worth knowing whether or not you want to make a go of it or not. By the time you do your first show you’ve already made that $149.00 dollars back! And by then you;ll get a good taste of how it feels to have made such easy money!
Good luck to anyone thinking about the opportunity!!

Hi ladies,
This is so exciting. I wanted to put in my 2 cents here. I fell in love with lia sophia jewelry but as a professional I am always looking to diversify into new business ventures and when I saw the plan offered here I was sold.
I have been an advisor with the company since Aug 07 and love it! I am looking to expand my business into the Tulsa, Oklahoma or surrounding areas. I have in-laws and friends from law school in that area and it would just be fabulous to build a team there!!
If anyone is interested in learning more about our team, or the business or anything else that has not already been addressed by ladies above please feel free to contact me!!

I went to my 1st liasophia show today…1st off when I got my invite the necklace on the thing made me think eeek I dont want to go to that party. When I got to the party all i seen was OVER PRICED!!!!!!!! CHEAP LOOKING stuff. NO real stones NO real metals, The rung “spakler” that looked decent in the book looks life a gumball machine ring in real life the finish was flakey & cheap looking & the “stone” looked foggy NO SPARKLE to it…Needless to say I did NOT book a show or order a thing!!!!!! & the presentation the rep sounded like she was trying to convince herself the jewlry was nice & that was only when she wasent begging us to book a show or become reps as well…UGH
3/30/08 at 1:50 amHi Everyone, I just happened to come across this site. I to sell lia sophia since may 2007 and have enjoyed it very much!!! It has brought great things to my family. I found that the purse game has worked great for me during the purse game I stack the hostess with ls boxes then right after that I pass the boxes to out to everyone at the party and tell them to hold onto it but not open it then I let them know the chance they are taking by opening a box but I dont put any one on the spot when they come to me with there order I ask them if they would like to take a chance and open the box let them know that they are also going to helping out the hostess to get that %40. I just started doing it this way and have been generatin 3-4 bookins a show!
3/31/08 at 1:37 amIf my sister and I want to be partners do we both have to sign up or do they have a sign up program for partners? We want to split EVERYTHING 50-50 and we know we will run into a problem with taxes if we each sign up. We don’t need two starter kits because we plan on doing shows together.
Thanks,
4/1/08 at 6:49 pmAnn
Hi Ann,
Great question! I know of many “partners” working the business. And have some on my team.
If you are only doing shows together ALWAYS, it may not be a big deal,– but if you do shows at times independantly, then the one who is not an official Advisor might have some legal issue. Make sense?
It’s certainly a great way to work a business. You can network in so many ways and always have an assistant!
A couple things to consider—
Having two kits might really be nice…you will absolutely & definitely use all the business items and two totes would come in handy..I have 4 myself! The extra jewelry in the kits is something you would both wear when out and about to get noticed!!– and could certainly use as PRIZES or BOOKING incentives. The $149 is well well worth it for what you get and could do with it.
You could always opt to have one submit most of the shows if the tax issue was a concern. Leaving the one watching the issue to submit one show every 12 weeks only.
And by sponsoring the other in there are benefits down the line if you promote, and earning Excellent Beginning benefits.
And consider the home office deduction for both. THAT is huge for your taxes.
That said, it is doable as a ‘partnership’ as long as you are both attending the shows together…sort of like having an assistant at all times! And you can pay a ‘worker’ up to $600 per year cash without them having to claim the income. I do that with a friend and my daughter who help in the office for me.
I’d be happy to share more and help you get started. I do have a team such as what you are wishing to set up currently–we just did a great WELCOME pack of extras for them to help their situation….you can contact me via
phone at 715-207-1276

Hi Ann,
I have a mother daughter team in my group that work together under just the mother’s number. So you can absolutely do it this way at least informally. However, you might want to keep in mind, as far as the taxes go, paychecks would only come to the name of the person who signed up and likewise the 1099 at the end of the year would only come in that persons name. I am not certain of what tax consequences you are concerned about and hence you might want to talk to an accountant or other tax professional about whether the person signed up would need to consider the other person as an employee for tax purposes. (Although I am an atty and a lia sophia advisor I do not practice tax law so please do not consider this to be legal counsel in any way!)
The only difficulty we have run into is going to company training – such as Regional rally’s or the annual conference. Only a person with an advisor number is permitted to attend. Otherwise they have enjoyed working together very much and consider the daughter the “silent” partner. Oh all company awards and recognition too would only be listed in the name of the person who signed up.
Feel free to e-mail me if you have more questions or concerns.

I am still amazed at how many women truly LOVE our jewelry and even more the wonderful hostess program we have and the unbeatable guarantee. I’m suprised you went to the party if the necklace on the postcard was so horrible! :) Are you with another company? That would explain why you are so down on ours…
4/2/08 at 9:17 pmAnyway, there are so many who love lia sophia jewelry that the few who don’t won’t affect our businesses. We KNOW we have a great product and work for an AWESOME company!!!

Ann,
It would really be to your advantage for both of you to sign up, even if you want to do the shows together. We have contests and other incentives and our conferences that you each need an advisor number to be part of. You have to order a kit to get your own advisor #. I’m not sure why you would run into a problem with taxes, unless you are making a whole lot of money, but there are so many deductions to take that it was only when I was making over $30,000 a year that I had to pay anything in. If you have questions, I would be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. please email me at: denasparkles@hotmail.com

4/3/08 at 5:18 pmI’ve been a lia sophia advisor for just over 2 years and I love it! Donald Trump once made the statement that if he could do it over again, he would do a home-based business. I’m so glad that’s the way I’m doing it and in my opinion lia sophia is one of the best home-based direct sales businesses out there! It can be whatever you need it to be for your circumstances. Whether you need a little “get ahead money” or you want a completely new career, lia sophia could be the answer for you. With the way the economy is and the uncertainty of so many things including employment, this is one thing you can have control over since it’s your own business and you call the shots.

Jess, I’m sorry you were disappointed but I do have to correct a few comments.
#1 Our stones are very genuine. Jasper, mother of pearl, Abalone, freshwater pearls, river shell, tourquiose, jade, unakite, aventurine, topaz, and more. Oour metals are real. Gold and Rhodium and Sterling Silver. Nothing cheap or fakey there.
#2 Our pricing is quite in-line with our quality.
70% of our catalo is $50 or less, 42% of that is $30 or less. We then also offer a 3rd item for half off when you buy 2. That half off item is your most expensive. And we offer a lifetime replacement guarantee on all of our pieces. Where else can you go 1, 6 or 15 years from now when a child breaks your necklace or you drop it and a precious stone cracks? That is standing behind your product line.
Beyond that—-
I can’t comment on someone elses presentation, but I do know that our HOSTESSES are ‘wowed’ by what we offer. And I know I cover it thoroughly at my shows..I want them to have a show of course, that is my business, but I also want them to know what is in it for them!!
20-40% in jewelry credits, bonus buys, half off items.
And I too share on the company, it’s been a blessing in my life and I offer the same gift to everyone that was offered to me.
I do hope you’ll give us another look/see now that you have more information.
Regards, LYNN

Hi Ann!
I am currently a lia sophia advisor in Northwest Indiana and I have a business partner. I’ve been an advisor for about a year and a half and I absolutely love it.
There are definitely pros and cons to joining lia sophia as a team versus each person joining independently. I would be happy to share with you my first hand experiences with what is great about it and what is not so great about it.
If either of you think at any time you might want to have your own advisor number, then I would encourage you to just start out that way. If you know, however, as we did, that you will always want to do this business as a team, and have no desire to do this business as an individual then you are probably fine joining as a team.
It works for us. Just want you to have all the info up front so you can make the best decision.
You can e-mail me at rrobisonfamily@aol.com
Best wishes, Colleen
4/4/08 at 11:11 pmIs it just me or are the photos of the jewelry alot prettier than the actual product?? I found that the jewelry is lightweight and some of it has plastic made to look like crystal in the book, Three pairs of earrings I purchased were plastic crystal look alike, the charge for the jewelry is exhorbitant at best, I will keep them as I don’t want to disapoint my daughter who I ordered from when she had her party, but really….it is not worth the money!
4/5/08 at 1:17 amI am considering signing up to be an advisor. My question is do you get very many shows booked from the lia sophia website? I typed in several different addresses in a few different cities and the same person kept coming up as the person to contact for a show. She can’t be the only person in my area who is an advisor. I know this because I was a hostess last week and the contact person from the website was not who did my show.
4/5/08 at 5:26 amLynn, I couldn’t have said it better!
our motto “Share the love of jewelry” says it all.
Millions of women LOVE our jewelry or hostess program our guarantee and our opportunity, and we LOVE sharing it with them!
Rock on!

4/5/08 at 10:39 pmWhen looking at your upline, make wure you :shop around” for the best fit. Its your business bottom line and you need to do what best for you!
Good luck.
4/6/08 at 4:02 pmI also would like to know what the cost is every 6 months when a new catalog and jewelry comes out? Does the company send you new jewelry pieces to replace the old ones are will I have to pay for that?
4/9/08 at 2:11 amCould someone please clarify the requirements for the initial party. I contacted an advisor locally about my interest in lia sophia and becoming an advisor myself. When I host my first party will I be the Hostess and the Advisor and therefore receive the 30% and the Hostess benefits to add to my starter kit or will I only be considered the Hostess.
My second question is regarding the additional 5 initial showings. Can I host some of those as well or do they have to be hosted by someone else. I have an initial 68 contacts and wanted to split it in to three seperate parties. One to keep it more personal, two so I could reinvite those that may not have been able to make it the first or second party.
I am overwhelmed now with wondering if I am going to be able to get the additional bookings. I need to go back through these emails and reread them to make sure I understand all the details. Any help in clarifying the above questions would be greatly appreciated.
4/11/08 at 3:11 pmI joined LS as a 2nd home-based business because the start up cost was low and catalog won me over. However, I wondered what everyone’s thoughts are on the “requirements” for recruiting. I’m a bit disturbed by the fact that you don’t get ANY credit for the first couple people you recruit. And then when you do recruit the required 3 people you need to personally sell $1500 every month or LOSE your team. And now I read that they will be making the requirements 4 people and $2500 a month! Doesn’t the company fear that they will lose good advisors because they can’t meet such high quotas? My thought on direct sales is that it’s supposed to work around your schedule and if you can’t work one month for whatever reason than that’s fine. But to threaten to take away people you brought into the business that are making them money is crazy! I like the line and have no problem selling it as a side business but I can’t say that I am comfortable bringing in others knowing that there are such high quotas. Doesn’t anyone else have an issue with this?
4/11/08 at 8:20 pmHi, all!
I am a Home & Garden Party designer and I am considering becoming a Lia Sophia advisor. I already have an upline selected, so sorry!
HGP does not restrict me from selling both lines, I just can’t collect $ from a downline which is fine since I do not have one.:)
I am still confused about the “requirements” for a new Lia Sophia advisor.
One upline told me I have to have 5 parties in 5 weeks or give her back a kit that I pay for. Needless to say I found a different group!
Is 3 shows or $1500 in the first so many weeks a Lia Sophia requirement? Just wondering…as this is something I’ve heard from another upline.
So many questions!
Thanks!
4/16/08 at 1:38 amI your weekly pay check taxed or is this done at the end of the year?
4/21/08 at 6:03 pmHi Amy, No it is not a requirement.
What it does do though is make you a Qualified Recruit for the Sponsor.
And qualified recruits are awarded with a bonus jewelry premium to the Sponsor.
That is sort of helping to compensate her for the training materials, etc that she shares.
It also earns you as a new advisor a $200 jewerly premium to use for more jewerly!

4/22/08 at 3:03 amHi! I just had a Lia Sophia show, after having been to 3 shows. I decided to become an advisor after my show made over $600. I have a few questions…
Do I make commission on my first 5 shows, or do I only earn the free jewelry?
I was told that if I have 6 shows in 5 weeks (from my starter show) then I will get refunded for my starter kit. But I wont order my starter kit until my show closes on Friday. Will that 5 weeks start on Friday, or whenever I receive my starter kit?
I probably have more questions, but that’s it for now. Thanks in advance for any advice!
4/22/08 at 3:37 amHi Amy….if you have a Sponsor lined up you probably should be asking her these questions since she is the one who has the guidelines for your UPLINE.
If you don’t have a Sponsor, then I’d be happy to share the info with you …email me directly at dreaminginblue@hotmail.com
We all do things a little differently. I do not require 6 shows/5 weeks. I do not pay for kits. I do reimburse most of the commission on a starter show if the new teammate is remote from me, as she is doing her own show.
Excellent Beginnings start on the FRIDAY after you submit your Starter Show, unless you submit it over a weekend and before noon on Monday..then it reverts back to the prior Friday.
A Q for you, why would you not order a kit before your show? Perhaps this is an UPLINE guideline for you? You would want to have your forms, jewelry etc all set before hand I would think. My temmates all have them sooner, as well as my Welcome pack so that they are IN business when they have their show. =)
And yes you make commission on all shows plus the EB benefits.
Good Luck..but like I mentioned talk to your UPLINE on these things !! =)
LYNN
4/22/08 at 3:57 pmNatalie,
We have our commissions directly deposited each Monday to our bank accounts…so very very nice!!
Makes Monday mornings so much better!!
To answer the question, no it is not taxed. We all have business expenses to different degrees and those are tallied and reduce our tax liability come year end. We purchase displays, perhaps have a home office, give away items, etc so all a variable in our total expenses/deductions for tax purposes.

4/22/08 at 4:00 pmWell, I have placed two orders with Lia Sophia and had two experiences with the Return Exchange department that have been awful. I love the jewelry but the Customer Service is TERRIBLE. I’m not going to buy from them again. The rep YELLED at me!!! Can you believe it? So I’m still waiting for my necklace exchange from 5 MONTHS ago and I’m getting my earrings back that I returned that I can’t wear. I suppose I’ll just throw them in the trash. Apparently losing my business is less important than acknowledging there’s a problem. And it says Customer Satisfaction is their number one priority on the website….that’s a load of bull.
4/22/08 at 6:51 pmI am a new lia sophia advisor and just had my starter show to close tomorrow. I am up to $800 dollars and 4 bookings. I covered my kit. So I think all the subsequent shows I do will be money in my pocket unless I want to buy more jewlery plus jewlery credits right? I have no idea, but I do know that it is realy fun and the jewlery is georgeous.
4/23/08 at 12:56 amHi Gals – Here’s the scoop with starting the lia sophia business. When you decide who you are signing up under, you will discuss with them what you both have for expectations. SOME uplines require x shows in x weeks to make you a Qualified recruit to count for recruiting awards and trip qualifications. SOME will offer to pay for some or all your kit when you meet certain requirements. I will tell you that with myself and my direct upline, we do not pay for kits or reimburse for kits. My thoughts is that it is your investment in YOUR business. My expectations are that your give it a try. We have training and support for our remote starts. Typically having your upline or manager do your starter show gives you the best start. You get to see the presentation, and you will receive all the bookings and hostess reward benefits. You will receive all the commissions from future sales you make. For our remote starts, we have been doing phone and email training and the company provides various tools to help with presentation, etc. The new start in this instance gets the commission and hostess benefits by doing her own starter show. We provide monthly meetings accessible via conference call, we have a google group set up to share helpful business documents and are in constant contact with our teammembers via phone and email. My good friend is my Division manager and I rarely “See” her – we are always sharing ideas and helping each other via phone or email.
If any of you have any questions about how I can help you find the right fit for what works for you and your goals, feel free to contact me. Good luck in your business decision.

You receive weekly commission from the company direct deposited to the account of your choosing. Taxes are your responsibility and you will receive a 1099-MIS at the end of the year.
4/23/08 at 2:13 amSarah, I’m beyond curious how you could have a return lagging for 5 mnths? Our normal time is less than 15 days from the time it arrives at LS.
And if you were not happy with the earrings, did you return them WITH your warranty paperwork? That’s the only reason I can see that they would come back.
And if you misplaced it, your hostess can give you the Advisors name who sold you the earrings and you will be able to get a copy from her to return them.
Feel free to email me and I will help you out.

4/24/08 at 4:54 amSarah,
I am sorry if you had a bad experience with customer service. It certainly should not take 5 months for a return or exchange if you followed the xchange process. If it is over 120 days since your purchase, they do require a $5 processing fee. Additionally, you need to provide your original receipt with the order number and advisor information, if you did not provide any of those necessary pieces, it can cause a delay. Feel free to contact me and I will see what I can do to help resolve your issues.

4/24/08 at 5:24 pmNancy – You are correct. The 4 bookings you have, you will receive commission on them and you will receive recognition sales credit on them , plus your starter show toward your excellent beginnings certificates. Great jobs on your starter show! Good luck!

Sarah,
I am so sorry. I have been selling for nearly a year now and this has never been the experience I have had nor my customers. Please e-mail me and I will see what I can do to make it right!! This should never have gone on this long. Does the gal who sold these items to you know?

Cindy,
I wanted to address both of your previous posts. First, the website search will only direct you to advisors who have an active website (meaning that they have paid for their site and set it up.) I cannot speak for others but I have had customers and recruits find me from the website search.
As far as expenses every 6 months. You will need to purchase new catalogs. I have done pretty well at guaging how many I will need and they are generally on sale for the first month or so. So I haven’t found this to be overly pricy at all. As for the jewelry, prior to each new catalog you have the opportunity to “earn” up to 3 kits containing pieces from the new catalog at an incredibly low price or to take advantage of special purchasing options. Both of these opportunities are based on your sales for the months the company deams as qualifying. Again with these 2 programs I have found the catalog shift to be smooth and not cost prohibitive and I am not a chart making seller if you know what I mean.
Just do your thing and you should be fine!!

4/25/08 at 1:00 pmI first show is next week all by myself and I have a question. The tags say the jewlery is made in china but one of the advisors said that there was soem made in the us can someone please clarify this for me in case a customer asks me. I want to be correctly informed. I tried to find the info on line but couldn’t. Thanks so much. I love this web board type thing it is awesome.
4/26/08 at 3:51 amHas anyone answered the poor woman with the customer service problem? And the advisor who had the nerve to yell at her? Sarah, neither of these situations that you have encountered are normal. The advisor, I do not care who she is, Unit, Division, Zone, who ever she is she should apologize. Not a nice person. And just call customer service , GET A NAME just in case there is a problem. If you have your receipt you are good. If you do not the advisor who did your show has it. Get it from her.
FROM THE COMPANY: TO BE A QUALIFIED ADVISOR: You must have 3 shows and $1500 in sales in your first 5 weeks. YOU ARE QUALIFIED. Gets you your first $200 certificate.
2nd 5 weeks $1500 in sales, gets you your second $200 cert.
3rd 5 weeks $1500 in sales gets you your third $200 cert.
After your starter show ALL COMMISSION IS YOURS.
REMEMBER THIS: If you do not meet your first deadline, 3 shows and $1500 in sales, you will not receive the $200 cert. OR ANY OTHER. So that would be throwing out the window $600 in jewelry certs.
4/28/08 at 2:29 amIf you have any more questions, and if someone will not start you because you do not have 5 shows in their specified time frame, just email me and it will not be a problem. I will work with you. Have a great Day!

It wasn’t the adviser it was the actual return/exchange department representative at Lia Sophia. I have put in a request to speak with a manager who has since not responded to my emails and I have no phone number for her. Now they have my earrings, but I have no idea what’s going to happen. No one will tell me if they’ve mailed them back to me. I’ve filed a complaint with Customer Service and thus far the only thing I have received is a number of some sort in a week. I’m going to call them again today. I’ll let you know how it plays out but I am really done with this company. Don’t say Customer Service is your Number One Priority and then treat your customers poorly or ignore them altogether. You advisers are much more responsive than Lia’s Customer Service Department management. Thanks for that.
4/28/08 at 7:27 pmDoes your starter show count in the $15oo in the first 5 weeks? Why does it take so long for the moderators to post our posts.
4/29/08 at 2:04 amNancy, Much of our product line is mfgd in China. They have extremely talented artisans who assemble our jewelry…as they do for other companies.
It is designed by artisans around the world.
Good Luck…. check out the other boards posted above. They are much more active than this one and you will get a much quicker response.

Hi all, I wanted to let you know that Melinda is helping me with my problem. I appreciate all of your concern. I do expect to receive my replacement necklace as the hostess now has it in her possession. That was the 5 month wait. I still have the issue of the missing earrings and the merchandise certificate.
I admit that I am terribly disappointed with how Lia Sophia corporate has handled this. I attempted to email the manager and the other contacts today and yet no response. They have broken every cardinal rule of handling an upset customer and quite frankly I am shocked. I did not swear, call them names, but yes I have sent angry emails. However, it is evident that not one of the three people I have contacted has even made the effort to try to understand my complaint through the emails I have sent or even looked at my form. They keep referring to my “items” and my “exchange” that the price difference between my “items” cannot cover the $5 fee. Well that would make sense if I was requesting an exchange of items. I’m requesting credit. No once can seem to answer why the amount can’t be deducted from the credit and why I have to send them $5 just to get it back???AAAAAAAAAARGH…now I’m not receiving any response from any of them. I have no idea if my product has been shipped back or not and I’ve gone through the process of obtaining a way to send payment to them that I am comfortable with…BUT, I have no idea why I am sending them the money and so I’m still a little wary of just sending money when I’m clueless why they need it. Was it too much to ask for one of these three people there to go look at my form and take the time to really ASK me why I am so upset instead of answering with responses that don’t even apply to my case? All I want is for it to make sense, I certainly am not begrudging them the fee. I added it to my form as instructed.
Melinda has been wonderful considering I am not her customer. But it seems very sad to me that an adviser I’ve never even met has to step up and help handle a problem that isn’t even hers. Kudos to you, Melinda. And to Sharon for also offering to help.
I will certainly post updates as I have them. I won’t leave this open as a negative experience if Lia Sophia makes it right.
Thanks for acknowledging my concerns.
Sarah
4/30/08 at 1:47 amUPDATE! My issue has been resolved!
I talked to this AMAZING person named Helen Ward in Customer Service today. She was awesome and transformed my experience. She took the time to explain everything to me…and I see where I misunderstood how it works. She even admitted the form wasn’t clear. She is sending me a mail tag to retrieve my product (that they have already shipped back but I haven’t yet received) so that I don’t have to pay the freight to send it back again. She was so awesome that I emailed her boss to tell her how great she was!
Here’s what I said to her boss:
wanted to take a few minutes to let you know what a wonderful experience I had with Helen Ward on the phone today. I believe the words I used on her were “I love you.” I had a difficult time interacting with the Return / Exchange department. I wasn’t understanding the way the $5 fee worked and the explanations I was receiving clearly indicated that no one understood my frustration. I was resigned to never do business with Lia Sophia again because of the level of service I received and the Return / Exchange department did nothing to try to restore confidence or keep my business.
However, Helen took the time to understand the frustration I was having. She answered my questions about the form and why I was receiving credit for MORE than what I requested. It took her all of 5 minutes to transform my opinion of Lia Sophia, restore my confidence, and convince me that Lia Sophia was indeed interested in keeping my business. As a result, I will be placing another order. I now clearly understand how the return process works and won’t make the same mistake filling out the form next time. She transformed my experience and my opinion in five minutes!
It’s a crying shame that the Return / Exchange department doesn’t share the same passion for customer service that Helen does! Five minutes of their time would have saved us all a lot of heartache. Maybe Helen should train them!
Helen, you are amazing and if I had a Customer Care center in Chicago, I would steal you and double your salary!!!
Have a GREAT day!
Anyway, I WILL be continuing business with them now…thanks for letting me vent on you all.
4/30/08 at 3:53 pmHi Ladies,
I just wanted anyone who has any questions about joining lia sophia to know that you will not regret it. You have to ask yourself:
1. if you have your first 5 shows and you decide to quit, why would you be upset when you have more money than when you started? (plus you keep all the jewelry)
2. Your starter kit is only $149 and you can recupe that total cost plus more in your first 1 or 2 shows, why wouldn’t you give this a try?
3. With a truly unconditional lifetime guarantee from a company with 30+ years in the business, why would you sign on with any other company?
4. With the best hostess program around and extensive merchandise selection, why would you offer your customers anything less?
5. With gas prices only expected to rise, why not do something fun to make some extra cash?
I started in October, I have been doing 1-2 shows a month because I am also a full time nursing student, working at a nursing home, and a retail establishment and have 2 kids. I can tell you the extra $400-$600/month I have been making has been extra handy!
I am in SE Wisconsin. If anyone is interested in hosting a show (I always give extra free stuff), or joining with me, please let me know. Visit my website often for updates on new offers. Also, if you refer a friend who books a show, I will give you a free piece of jewelry on the night of that show!

I just recieved information on how to become a Rep. The advisor told me that I would have to have a starter show and five bookings before I am ready. She told me to just worry about the starter show for right now and get all the people I can. When I invite these poeple, is she allowed to keep contacting them as her clients, or is this like a teaching process for me. She stated that when the party was over that she would then sign me up for my kit. Will sone one please tell me the process to become a rep!
5/1/08 at 2:35 amHi girls! Wow! I am so excited to see that there are so ,amy of us out there sharing the love of lia sophia jewelry! I have been an advisor for about 4 monts and I have to say I am having the best time! I am also a full time teacher and I sing on Sundays. SO even though I am very busy…Lia Sophia is a great way to supplement the income!
Being in the educational world, we are always involved in fundraising causes. I have been asked to host one for my school. We are raising money for The American Cancer Society. I have done my share of research and have found interesting forms and the like, but I really want to chat with someone that has done a successful fundraising event and talk about he the details and how to handle something of this size. I have lots of questions and I want to see just how effective it can be. Soooo…anyone willing to share? You can email me or just keep on posting!

5/2/08 at 1:32 amHi Sheri,
I used to sell LS jewelry, but I was very uncomfortable with the fact I had to have 3 people under me at all times to make any money. Now they changed it to 4 people?? That’s just CRAZY. You should be rewarded with your FIRST recruit.
Glad I found a company where on my FIRST recruit I made money off of and it just keeps getting better.. Best of luck.

Sherry…with lia sophia it is true we do not receive compensation until we Promote. However, nor are we responsbile or out of pocket for the training of the new team memebers until we promote.
The Upline who is helping train, rewarding incentives, helping the new start learn the business is compensated for her outlay.
Just to clarify the company is not holding back on any Advisors..they are compensating those who are having out of pocket expenses.
5/4/08 at 5:59 pmShan-
lia sophia is an amazing company, with outstanding incentives for customers, hostesses, and advisors! Congratulations on starting the process of becoming an advisor! The friends that you invite to your party should be considered your contacts. Also, it may seem like starting with 5 shows is crazy, but truly it will give you the best start. Try to get those 5 shows within three weeks of each other. This will help you build your business quickly.
Although I am located in mid-Missouri, I too am looking to build my business anywhere! I am a full time teacher looking to supplement my income to pay the health expenses of my children. I am also interested in bouncing ideas off of other advisors as my unit is VERY small, the more the merrier! :) You can look up my contact information at

5/7/08 at 6:30 amShan,
Your starter party is just for you to view how shows are done and for you to earn extra free stuff to add to your kit. The gal who does yours will give any bookings from that starter show to you to do. Also, the customers will be yours to follow up with. She will just keep the profits but the rest goes to you. Yes, it’s good to have the 5 shows booked to start with because it ensures you will have a great start to your business. You will start out strong, and earn rewards like free jewelry right away just for hitting certain sales goals in those first 5 shows.
IF you have any more questions, feel free to contact me. I believe if you click on my name right at the top of my post, it will take you to my website where you can contact me!
5/7/08 at 6:38 pmSorry for the duplicate postings above, when I clicked “submit” the other day it gave me an error message so I couldn’t tell if it went through. Now I see that they all went through! :)
5/7/08 at 6:40 pmOne of the things that I LOVE about Premier Designs is that we receive compensation immediately from our very FIRST downline! You start working with and supporting your new downlines from the very beginning so why should you have to wait to be compensated till you have a handful of them? Also – when you give up a night that you could be doing your own show to support your new Premier daughter and teach her first show Premier pays you $200 on top of your commision for your support! That is AWESOME!
Because Premier Designs does not spend money on advertising, they are able to better use that money to reward their jewelers, their hostesses, and build a better quality product. Most of Premier’s jewelry is manufactured right here in the United States so each time a piece of jewelry is sold you are not only supporting the jeweler you bought it from, but you are securing jobs right here in our great USA!
Premier prides themselves on being a direct SERVICE company as apposed to being a direct sales company which is why they are so strict in regards to no internet solicitation and no click and shop purchasing. Even with those strict guidelines I have never had an empty calendar but more business than I can handle at times because of their AWESOME hostess program. Want to experience service even from the home office? Try calling Premier sometime and you will be amazed at what you hear – or rather what’s missing – the machines! There are NO machines that answer the phones, people do! “Thank you for calling Premier Designs. How may I serve you?” – from a LIVE person (which is invaluble these days!). I called once on a busy day and a recording said “there are three calls ahead of you” then a delightful LIVE person answered two minutes later. Can’t beat that!
5/8/08 at 5:52 amThe worst company I have delt with – custormer service has no idea what they are talking about. Don’t return anything they will screw it up too!!!!
5/8/08 at 4:57 pmGood Heavens, Linda
Everyone has a return at some point in their lives, and on occassion those returns don’t go as smooth as we might like.
Lia Sophia makes every effot to assure 100% customer satisfaction.
An example would be the 90,000 $50 gift cards they issued in fall 06 when their shipping got behind.
If you have a return that went snafu, ask to speak to a CS Mgr and they will have the expertise to correct your glitch.
Wishing you a better day.
5/12/08 at 4:46 pmHello,
I have a question. I have purchased from a party about a month ago and the necklace I purchsed is on Back Order and they say it might take another 21 days before I get it. This can not be normal!!??? Does Lia Sophia offer anything as a compensation for this? I mean do they ever give out certificates toward free jewelry? Should I just cancel this order and be done? I love the jewelry but I am not a patient person.
Also when you sign up to become an advisor, you only have 5 weeks to have the first 5 parties? Is that correct?
5/13/08 at 3:20 amI’m new to LS and am having a HUGE problem with backorders. I had my starter show with almost 1 month ago and 5 people are still waiting on items! I think this is unacceptable and makes me feel like I’m giving horrible customer service. I also belong to another direct sales company (not jewelry) with a much larger catalog and only have 4 items on backorder. And having any is unusual!! I like the jewelry but this makes me very uncomfortable having parties knowing that there are so many items on the list. How does everyone deal with this or are you just used to it? Maybe that’s why it bothers me so much because my other company seems a lot more prepared.
5/15/08 at 7:13 pmLadies,
For those of you reading this that are thinking of joining a direct sales company. Make sure you do your homework before you sign anything. Meet with advisors from every company and have a business plan before you start. Then select the jewelry that you feel the most confident selling.
I personally sell handcrafted .925 sterling silver and semiprecious stone jewelry. While people will comment on the cost of all direct sales lines… The one thing I hear consistently at my shows is that the women prefer to pay $25 – $30 for a pair of sterling silver earrings then electroplated jewelry, which will wear over time.
With 51% OF OUR CATALOG UNDER $50 dollars there is something for everyone. We also offer over 500 pieces to choose from.
We offer a lifetime replacement and you do not need the original receipt. The year is 2008 and everything is computerized so they can see in the computer where and when it was purchased. All of our orders are submitted online and we get paid the night of our show.
We directly ship to each guest at a show for only $4 dollars per order so the hostess does not have to deliver.
We do not charge the customer a fee for returns. Nor do they charge us for our website or for hostess benefits. With LS the $6 per show can add up… With just one show a week you are at $288 a year plus $9.95 a month for the LS website. We also do not pay for any credit card fees.
We earn downline commission from our very first recruit and NEVER run the risk of losing our downline no matter how much time has passed with personal low or even no sales.
I prefer to sell .925 sterling. I feel good knowing that our jewelry will last a lifetime, will survive a dip in the pool, a trip to the beach or even washing dishes. As a new rep you can earn $3000 in free jewelry during your fast start-100 day period. You will earn a $500 jewelry bonus for each $3000 in retail sales. Plus we can earn up to $200 each month. I provide loaner jewelry to my new reps and never take a commission from their start up show. They make the 30% in commission and the 30% in free jewelry. But that is just what I do each sponsor can be different. If you would like to learn more about the company I represent contact me at gr8jewels4sale.com and I will forward you the link to my website.
For the LS advisors reading this please know that I respect your company and constantly defend your product to the customers that try and bash it to me. There is a market for everyone and I wish you all much success.
Have a sterling Day and party on!
5/20/08 at 9:29 pmHi all,
Let me start off by saying I love the jewelry and it is truly beautiful. But I am concerned about the quality. IS this just cheap plastic custome jewelry. I have a few pieces, like the Tropicana, and one thing I’ve noticed is that book states that it is made of cut crystals, but it just feels like plastic beads. What’s the deal?
Also my rep told me they were real gold and 99.25 silver, is that gold and silver plated?
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect genuine gemstones or the quality of Tiffany’s, Cartier, or Van Cleef, but I do expect the advertising to be correct.
5/21/08 at 2:56 amHi, I am with a different Jewlery company. I cannot say enough about Jewels by Park Lane. I have been with this company for several years. I took some time from building my business to earn my doctorate in education. Quess what? I kept the same level of management, and couldn’t be happier. The jewelry is wonderful and for all ages. This company is debt free and continues to offer a wonderful hostess and director plan. If you are interested I invite you to take a look! Go to http://www.myparklane.com/judyolson
Thank you!
5/21/08 at 5:20 amDenise, I would like to get more information on the jewelry that you sell but the e-mail address you provided is not complete.
5/21/08 at 11:26 pmHi LB
I wanted to address your questions about the quality of the jewelry. I am not sure where you are located but the advisor who handled your show was a little off. Very little of our “silver” jewelry is sterling which would be the .925 to which I believe you were referring. But yes the jewelry is plated either with 14-22K gold or with rhodium which is from the platinum family. Otherwise the cost would be exceedingly higher.
Many of the pieces do contain gemstones like amythyst, and you will also see alot of natural stones like jasper, and shells like mother of pearl, abilone along with freshwater pearls.
I do understand what you are looking at with the Tropicana as I had the same questions regarding the Beaumont which is a similar necklace but in neutral tones.
Many blessings,

Tracy and Sheri,
I honestly don’t know what is going on with the backorders. I only joined the company last July and I haven’t experienced this problem before. The company is telling us that they did not purchase enough based on sales in January and February and as a result many pieces are backordered. But that they are filling orders as quickly as they can and the issue should be resolved shortly. I don’t know if there is more to the story or not….I do expect that the company will do their best to resolve the issue in a fair and concientious manner as they have in the past.
Tracy – as for the 5 parties in 5 weeks whomever you sign up under should help you develop a plan. Your 5 weeks will start counting from the Friday your starter show is entered. Depending on the group you sign up under they will have different requirements. Our group doesn’t enter your starter show until you have 6 bookings in the 5 week period. Its not nearly as hard as it sounds. I had a gal who decided on April 28 that she wanted to start. We trained her and then did her starter show on May 17 we did not order her kit until yesterday when she had 7 confirmed bookings in the next 5 weeks and then today entered her starter show. (To qualify you only need 3 shows and $1500 in that 5 week period but the reason for the 5-6 shows is two fold. 1st – people cancel on you for a variety of reasons so this gives you a backup to be sure you will have enough to qualify. 2nd – the more shows you start with the better foundation your business has.)
At first there is so much information to process. It really helps to have someone develop a plan with you to ensure you have a successful start!
Many blessings feel free to e-mail me for more info at melindapitman@yahoo.com

5/22/08 at 12:35 amTracy—The issue right now is that they are dealing with redoing the line to met new regulations set forth in CA on their makeup. And we are growing so fast that an underestimate combined with the new guidelines has caused a glitch. Our newest Alert is that this should be cleared up in the next two weeks. Of course that does not help with the I WANT MINE NOW!! Honestly, this is soooo unlike LS in anyway to have any issue with backorders.
The company does send a note asking if you would like a Gift Certificate for the interim. I always suggest taking that and shopping later if it will be a bit longer.
As to signing on Tracy…some GROUPS/UNITS have that as their requirement. I do not. I follow the official Corp. set up only. This is to be my teammates business on their time lines. The official guidelines by lia sophia are sign up, do a starter show to become official =), then the only real requirement is one show submitted every 12 weeks. Of course, if you wish to be in business and earning you will do more.
With a $600 starter show, the company offers a Prize..either a gift certicate or an expensive jewelry piece or perhaps a traveler for jewelry.
I do always explain that if you do 3 shows in your first 5 weeks (counting your starter show) and those shows total $1500 in sales you will earn a $200 Jewelry Premium to spend on more jewelry for your display. That is part of our Excellent Beginnings program.
Putting a bit of effort into the first few weeks also helps you network further and get your rolling.
If you’d like to have more detailed information on lia sophia, I can share that with you gladly. If you are considering lia sophia as a pt ft or career, I have a great list of ideas, and questions to ask as you interview. And you should….this is an important area to find the best fit with your mentor and sponsor.
The jewelry is high quality fashion jewelry, the profit very nice, the overhead very low, and once you join you do not have to pay fees yearly to stay in with lia sophia as you do some others.
The jewelry composition is gold electroplate 14-22K, and Rhodium (which is in the PLATINUM family ..more valuable and soft luster, strong, more wear resistant) which goes for over $6000 per jewelry unit measurement. We only have a few pieces that are sterling. ALl of our earrings have surgical steel posts..the most hypo-alergenic way to go.
When/if you research other jewelry businesses out there for quality, guarantee, cost to do business, profit, satisfaction by consumers, name recognition, company fees, start up costs, etc lia sophia shines.

I forgot to mention that the tropicana is made up of glass beads as well as the cut crystal briolletes, none of them are plastic though!

Hi everyone! What a great site this is for new advisors!
lia sophia has been a great company to work for. I am a former teacher, turned stay-at-home mom (of 4 kids under 7), turned lia sophia advisor. I love the money, the free jewelry, the continual incentives and the surprise boost my self esteem. The shows are my favorite! I love meeting new people and helping them find some jewelry that they love!
I’m glad I found this site. The overall vibe about our company is extremely positive, who doesn’t love promoting that? I’m in the Chicago suburbs and am anxious to introduce other women to this awesome opportunity. Contact me if you or someone you know may be interested in joining lia sophia.

5/22/08 at 9:49 pmThis is a lia sophia site and posts should be about the questions, concerns and interest in lia sophia jewelry…not soliciting for another jewelry line. That is inappropraite here.
5/23/08 at 2:41 pmI would like to see if I can help answer any questions for those of you “lurkers” wondering about the lia sophia opportunity. I have documents I can email you and information I can mail you. Would love to speak to you and show you what your career and earning potential can be! I currently have people in my group in other states and we have monthly meetings via conference call and communicate almost daily via email to provide maximum support. Please contact me for information. I joined in Sept 07 and this has been so helpful to my family as a source of income with minimal hours spent working my business. Would love to give someone else that opportunity.

5/23/08 at 2:45 pmI am in the process of becoming a LS representative. I have a question as I am thinking of offering to do a fundraiser for someone. Is it possible to take orders ans ship directly and still receive jewelry credit and commission? I was told that you have to place the order as a direct order and that you will only get the commission, not the jewelry credit. Can someone please clarify? This seemed kind of weird to me that I wouldn’t get the credit just because I wanted to ship directly to the people placing the orders. Also, I assume the shipping is higher that $3.80, can someone please tell me the shipping charge for direct ships?
5/23/08 at 4:12 pmWelcome Colleen!
LS is an awesome business to be a part of.
Best of success to you!

5/23/08 at 8:55 pmHi everyone,
6/5/08 at 2:07 amI too have just become a lia sophia advisor in the Philadelphia area. Like everyone else, I fell in love with the jewelry just from looking at the catalog. My beginning shows are starting to fizzle out, but the ones I’ve had were great. Plus my customers were all really happy with the jewelry. If anyone lives in the Philly area and would like a show please feel free to contact me. Also, does anyone have any tips on booking more shows?
Kim
kmlsjewelry@gmail.com
H Kim…has your Upline given you any ideas at all?
Consider booking some fun events, festivals etc this summer for leads. Offer to do some fundraisers for larger daycares, Miracle Network, Cancer runs, sororities, cheerleaders, sports teams etc. Those can generate lots of sales w/o a lot of time involved for you.
Consider holding a booth at a local shop/salon, etc. Talk to the owners and give a way one of their GC’s or offer to take orders and give them a couple of the Hostess Selections.
When you eat out, always give a Business card with a coupon with your tip. Leave a book too if you can.
Put your business cards up everywhere there is an op to do so.
Those are a few ideas I share with my teammates..especially all those remote to me.
Good luck.. Keep working yourself out there with a positive attitude. Many have a lull from time to time..and then WOW it happens and you roll!

6/5/08 at 7:58 pmOur Annual lia sophia Conference in Milwaukee was just held….and all my new loves in the jewelry line will be ordered and arriving to me in just a couple of weeks!
Highlights:
We are going to be doing business in Canada! In Jan. 09 we open the doors to Canadians interested in joining LS =) I can’t wait to sponsor those awesome ladies into our Unit!
Our new line of jewelry will include many natural hand made earthy styles, bold mixed metals and bohemian styles–chunky! Sophisticated and gorgeous pieces are being added. I loved all but one item in the new line…LOL
We are DOUBLING THE BONUS FOR NEW STARTS in July! It’s going to be a great time to get Sponsored into lia sophia.
All Year-Long Conference contests/recognition promos are being enhanced too!
And we got to see footage of the SHIP for our 2009 Cruise promo! I’ve been on several cruise ships and this is really top of the line!
And the fun of conference can’t be over-looked. We saw Johnny Depp’s movie set, Stacy London from What Not to Wear was our keynote speaker, as was Debbie Fields of Mrs Fields Cookie fame. KC and the Sunshine band did a private concert for us…I got to shake hands with them =)
Imagine seeing 3500 women in gorgeous jewelry!
Take care all….if anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me via my website.

I hope this is OK to post here. I wanted to let you all know that I know of a small print company that is offering Lia Sophia Consultants color copies for $.34 each. I am not sure if we get a discount anywhere else or not but I know that many places charge .89 or .99 each.
You can call them at 207-645-2798 or email your file and instructions to wiltonprintedproducts@verizon.net and they will ship your order to you. Be sure to reference offer number 102. Tell them Dawn sent you.
6/19/08 at 2:30 pmConference was amazing, wasn’t it? I got a lot of great ideas and totally jazzed!
I also met a lot of beautiful, intelligent women. The problem is, I didn’t get business cards from everyone. Does anyone know how to contact advisors without knowing their last name or city? I know first name and state.
Thanks,

Hi ladies. I bought a bunch of Lia Sophia jewelry at a GARAGE SALE! The representative wasn’t working the business any more. She had twins so I could understand that! Her Mom was selling it for her in a big garage sale with tons of other unrelated stuff.
Anyway, she had SO MUCH JEWELRY. Couldn’t she have done something to get her investment back from the company? Just wondering. She had items priced for $3.00 (smaller stuff) then if the LS price was $25-$59 it was priced $10 and over $59 was priced $15. (Something like that) That was my intro. to Lia Sophia! I spent $80 but couldn’t afford any more (Newlywed).
I have a jewelry business on the side (I make it as well as buying new and vintage jewelry). I know the LS items are really nice pieces; some I bought for myself and some I will try to resell. I know if I went to a house party I would not feel I could pay the prices. Similar to Silpada, I love it but it is so pricey.
Thanks for listening. Any feedback is welcome.
Jennifer
6/27/08 at 5:33 pmHi Jennifer,
Those items were probably purchased as samplers by the former Advisor. We receive an incredible discount when we purchase samplers and 2x per year it is an even better offer that we can earn.
Those prices seem about right.
If we purchase at the super bargain sampler price we do not have the option to return them.
They also do not carry a guarantee…that guarantee comes with purchases under the lia sophia non-smapler purchased items. Totally understandable.
We can, and many of us do purchase items as a guest from time to time or HOSTESS our own event and get FREE, then we have the Lifetime Guarantee just as everyone else and can return/exchange items.
I can only imagine twins 24/7 …. that would certainly put a constraint on your time to get out of the house. On the other hand, I know of at least a dozen women with 4-5 small children that work their lia sophia biz to add to the finances and to get out of the house! And they are very successful towards their goals.
Should you decide to resell these pieces you purchased, please keep in mind that you probably should tell those who buy them that these are items you purchased at a garage sale, that you are not a LS Advisor, and that they have no warranty with the item. Just to keep your rep safe and a clear understanding of what they are purchasing.
How wonderful that you are talented to make jewelry!
As to the prices, did you know that LS offers some great sales …every month is a switch up of what is offered?
This month is our REVERSE SALE…for each one (least expensive) item you buy at the regular price you can have 2 more for 50% off. We do a huge volume with this sale before our catalog switches out to the new one with August. Many women love this sale and do their holidy, birthday, and gift shopping!
Good luck in your biz!

6/30/08 at 12:51 pmHi Jennifer,
I am so excited that you have been introduced to lia sophia jewelry. I am sure you will come to love your pieces. However, you only really got a small portion of the lia sophia package by purchasing at a garage sale. Which is really kind of a bummer. Lia sophia jewelry comes with a lifetime replacement guarantee when purchased through an advisor. That means it is an investment because you can have the piece replaced should something happen to it – forever. The pieces that you purchased at the garage sale will not be subject to the replacement guarantee.
With our monthly savings plan you could have purchased quite a few guaranteed pieces for the same $80 you spent. Right now for every 3 items that you purchase you pay full price for the least expensive piece and get the other 2 at half off. So if you had chosen say a $14 pair of earrings (yes we have them) you would pay full price for that and then you could get 2 of anything at half price so even if you picked two $50 necklaces at half price you would only be at $64. I am not sure if you would have been able to get as many pieces because obviously it would depend upon what you chose but about 75% of our catalog is less than $50. And then they would have been guaranteed for life.
I am sure you will get lots of responses here letting you know that the best way to afford the jewelry is to become an advisor (we get a discount of 70% off and have very minimal requirements to stay active and enjoy that discount) especially if you love the jewelry! Not to mention our generous compensation plan……
Anyway I just wanted to tell you to enjoy the lovely jewelry and I hope it is all that you bargained for! Feel free to e-mail if you would like to talk or learn more. Many blessings in your new union!!

It’s Official! The NEW FALL/WINTER lia sophia Jewelry catalog is now online and avaialable for viewing and of course Ordering from!!
Take a peek at my website…
http://www.liasophia.com/lynnandreske/catalog-intro
The items in our lia sophia catalog are shown actual size. I will say they look better in person– so if you see things you love…they will knock your socks off in person!!
The Corp office has even offered a fabulous incentive for the months of August and September for hostesses. August has an immediate $50 gift certificate with a $500 show and September hostesses with a $500 show will be able to select an additional $100 in jewelry for just $10.
Guests in August will be selecting with our EVEN SPECIAL…buy 2 and get 2 more expensive items for 50% off. Actually, they will be able to do 3/3, 4/4 etc. What a great way to promote holiday & gift purchases, and updating a fall wardrobe!!
For anyone not familiar with lia sophia Jewelry and its’ hostess program, it is a mere $250 in sales to make it a show to earn the hostess benefits of 20% of your sales back in FREE jewelry, 4 bonus buys which are anything in the catalog you love! Up to $100 in price you pay just $15 for, and over $100, the catalog mentions the bonus pricing.
AND if you gather up 10 orders and secure 2 bookings, then that 20% In FREE can double to 40% for just $15.
And at any parties booked from yours, you get a half off item! With all that, you can see why most hostesses end up with so much FREE and BONUS jewelry for themselves.
And anyone joining has the bonus of $100 in jewelry with their Starter Show of $600 or more. Now keep in mind our average show is over $700, so that is very doable! Many of my new teammates do over $1000 starter shows….their friends are excited for them to be starting a new business and support them with purchases and bookings! There are also 3 periods to earn an extra $600 in jewelry theough the Company’s Excellent Beginnings program. A little effort can really pay off…and that means more for our Advisors to wear and earn with!
All in All, it’s a great time to explore lia sophia Jewelry and all it can offer to guests, hostesses and Advisors!!!
8/6/08 at 1:15 pmHi,
I just hosted a Lia Sophia party and I was amazed by the variety of styles and different pieces offered in the catalog. But one of my guests had on a retired bracelet called the LS Kiam Jenny bracelet with multi gold and silver strands and a bar clasp. She said it’s from 2007. Does anyone on this site have one they’d like to sell?

8/23/08 at 5:12 pmHi!
I am interested in selling Lia Sophia and I’m so happy I found this website!
I have a few questions. How much jewelry comes in the start up kit? How do you go about getting more jewelry to bring to the shows? Finally, do you keep jewerly on hand as your stock? How does this work?
8/26/08 at 5:30 pmThanks!
Hi, Jen!
You get approximately 25 pieces in jewelry with your start up kit, new kits come out September 1. Designers receive a deep discount to purchase our samples at and we also can earn monthly incentives to use towards purchasing more jewelry for our kits.
A few months before each catalog change we have “kit month” where we can earn several different kits at DRASTICALLY reduced prices. :)
I have about 150 pieces in my collection that I take to shows and loan out to folks for catalog shows.
We are not permitted to do cash and carry so we do not carry “stock.”
I hope this helps!
Please feel free to email me at scpydo2@comcast.net if you have any more questions, I’d be happy to answer them!

9/19/08 at 4:12 pmAll I can say is the proof is in the pudding. As an attorney I invest not only my money but my time wisely and carefully – lia sophia has been a fatastic investment of both!!

Thought I would stop by and my gosh it is quiet here!
I hope those that have asked questions have found the answers and gotten what they needed!
My person Nationwide Team is growing weekly. We are hoping to find more women and men interested in a career with lia sophia. With effort and confidence, this opportunity can reward you well. We work with our new teammates for as long as it takes to ensure a success story.
We are just finishing up with the CORP. Caribbean Cruise promo and soon the next trip incentive will be announced! It’s a great time to get started and work the biz to earn the next trip! I’ve earned the cruise…Ocho Rios, Grand Caymen!! 3 floors of shopping on the ship!
If you drop by this site and find your curiosity peaked, why not browse a little further, ask some questions and consider a PT or FT position with lia sophia?
On average we make a minimum of $25 per hour. At the uppend end, $70+ per hour. It would take a long time working at the Mall or Dept Store, or office job to equal that income. One night vs a week!
And a few nights a month working lia sophia Jewelry can really add to a family’s finances.
Feel free to contact me if you have personal questions, you’d rather not post to a public board.

1/9/09 at 8:20 pmIt’s a great time to be in business!
I ran accross this website while researching lia sophia because of this ad on craigslist.
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/sls/981192929.html
According to the research I have done there are start-up fees correct? I am in the DFW area so if there is an advisor in this area I would love to get more information locally. My e-mail is alissafashions@gmail.com.
Tks!
1/11/09 at 3:58 amIf I were a Lia Sophia representative, I would encourage everyone to keep their receipt but let them know that I could help provide them with a copy if they misplaced theirs. Isn’t that just good Customer Service?
1/13/09 at 1:42 amHi- I am considering becoming an advisor and have been reading about a lot of the great benefits. However, I am confused on who I contact in order to receive further information before making an agreement and ordering the starter kit. I am in NY. Also, I read that after the starter kit is purchased you will need to committ to 5 bookings- now I assume I will have to find people willing to host a party correct? Also, is there a timeframe on how long I would have to book the parties and if I do not book them w/in that time then will lose being an advisor?
1/16/09 at 11:07 pmHi Everyone…let me help you out.
You can join lia sophia under anyone anywhere. I have teammates all over the US. I’d love to share more with anyone intersted.
This is my only job and I am passionate about creating a great environment for success with my teammates!
You may contact me directly at 715-207-1276 or via my website..just click on my name and you will find it!
The requirements to join.
Purchase the kit… on sale in Jan for just $124
It contains over $1050 in jewelry and then biz supplies.
We set up a Debut for you where friends gather and look at your items, browse the catalog. You share about our hostess program, our guest special, the lifetime guarantee and a bit about the biz. Perhaps play our really fun purse game or Ringo Bingo.
Guests shop and have a relaxed couple of hours.
You do not need to commit to 5 bookings… It is your biz to do as you wish with. I encourage at least 3 shows in 5 weeks to earn the Corp bonus.
Those who do 6 shows in 6 weeks with me get $500 in sampler jewelry from me…you pick it out!! By then you will also have earned more bonuses in jewelry from the Corp office.
And have a rolling business!!
The only real requirement to stay an ACTIVE advisor is to submit at least a $250 show every 12 weeks.
If you do not, you go off mail and inactive. A show submitted re-activates you. Inactive for 15 months and you do drop out.
Shows can be online, book, in home, booths, fundraisers, and more. Even single orders earn you $.
Please as suggested above, contact me for more info.
Working less than full time last year I earned a fabulous income, earned a cruise for two, and thousands of dollars in FREE jewelry!
Hope to hear from you soon.

1/18/09 at 1:39 amSamantha,
Although relatively new to lia sophia myself, I know that who you want to contact to sign your agreement with is basically like choosing who you want to be your “mom” in this business. You’re choosing who you want to teach you and coach you and train you. My upline is Kristy Dunaway and she’s fabulous and very well known for her quick sucess in lia sophia. I’d recommend her in a heartbeat, if I weren’t trying to build a team of my own! lol So, quite frankly, if you want to join with someone who teaches what she does, email me! I’m more than happy to help you get started – train you the very best way I know how – and cheer you on every step of your journey! I’m not about re-inventing the wheel, when my upline works this business as sucessfully as she has, I’m all about copying that and teaching those same principles – because I know they work! The proof is in the pudding, as they say! lol
No matter what you decide, good luck to you! It’s fun to get paid to sparkle!!

Samantha,
Forgot to answer that your first party needs to be held within 30 days of getting your kit. And the suggested first 5 shows can be held anytime really. However, if you are at ALL interested in earning free jewelry certificates that are offered all new advisors, you’d want to schedule them in your first 5 weeks of that first party. Basically, this will ensure that you qualify for the first free jewelry certificate that can be earned as a new advisor (a $200 certificate!). I can explain in further detail via email if you wish. But please know, this is all just a recommendation, and by no means a rule….if you do it – great! (I enjoyed redeeming my 3 $200 gift certs a few weeks ago!) But if you aren’t motivated that way, and don’t do it, you’re still loved and important to the team – we all have our own pace.

I had a Lia Sophia party in November and ordered several pieces. I found out after I got them that my adviser ordered one of my pieces as a sample and it was sent to her instead of me. When I got it, I didn’t care for it and wanted to return it and now I can’t because she got it as a sample for $15.00. Now she isn’t selling anymore and I am stuck with this necklace. Anyone have any suggestions? I really like the jewelry and the LRG but I wish this would have been handled differently. Customer service said I was stuck with the piece. Any advise would be appreicated. Thanks. Reply to Christi at onemannwoman@hotmail.com
1/24/09 at 2:33 amThe reason the rings discolor is due to the chemical makeup of the oil in your skin. All silver lia sophia jewelry is Rodium plated…just like many rings that big name jewelry stores sell. Over time the rings may need new rodium plating. My husband’s wedding band that we paid $1100 for needed it after only a year of wear. Please do send your items back. If you need to print a return form, you can do so by going to the lia sophia website at http://www.liasophia.com and where it talks about the lifetime guarentee you should be able to print a form. You may have to pay a $5 fee but they will send you a new ring. I hope this helps you. Please feel free to contact me at BethNickerson522@aol.com if you need any help.

If anyone is looking to become a lia sophia advisor in the Maryland area, I’m currently recruiting new advisors! Our team is awesome and we are growing quickly.
I’d be happy to hold your hand every step of the way to get you started with your own lia sophia business.

Hi Everyone,
I have recently joined Lia Sophia as an Advisor. I am excited about the company, products and opportunity Lia Sophia offers. I was concerned about the quality and styles of the jewelry but my concerns quickly vanished when I saw it in person! The quality is phenomonal and the styles are right in line with the todays fashions and trends. It is truly beautiful, high quality jewelry with something for everyone! The Lifetime Guarantee is icing on the cake. I am currently building my team in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and would like to talk to anyone that might be interested in a fun, money-making opportunity. Contact me at twakefield0324@aol.com

2/1/09 at 5:41 amI just bought a Lia Sophia ring this weekend and put the ring on no more than 4 hours ago. This ring is ALREADY turning my finger green. I have bought another ring from Lia Sophia about 2 years ago, and wear it often. This 2 year old ring went from turning my finger green to turning it BLACK…yah BLACK! I’m really upset that I have paid so much for jewelry I could’ve gotten at Clarie’s, and had the same affect for a quarter of the price.

2/6/09 at 10:47 pmLia Sophia is an amazing company filled with strong and wonderful women (and men)! I love this job!! Lia Sophia has brought so much to my life in the past year and a half … great money, wonderful friendships, confidence, prizes (cars, trips, cash), flexible schedule … endless possibilities.
2/12/09 at 4:07 amI live Connecticut and would love to help anyone interested in this opportunity or getting some of Lia Sophia’s beautiful quality jewelry. You can contact me through my website or email (KLCafferty@sbcglobal.net).
I have just discovered Lia Sophia and am so excited to start next month. Last year I worked with the “other” jewelry company. It was great! However, the registration fee is more than I can handle. Also the cost of the sample package was a lot. Direct sales is new to me (my only retail experience was last year, prior to that I spent 27 years in an office environment). I have already recruited my first team member! Please understand, I have yet to go to a home show. I heard about Lia Sophia from my daughter, she contacted her friend and I attended a sponsoring event Tuesday (yes, just last week) and saw the jewelry for the first time. As everyone (well, except me) knows catalogues, computer pictures, etc. fail to capture the beauty of most jewelry. I was very impressed with line. Tonight I am going to another advisor’s party. The person I recruited was my hairdresser. We both are impressed by the organization.
A couple of things I learned from my other jewelry experience: 1. It is not unreasonable to book shows before you start. Booking is the biggest challenge for me. 2. Attend any training afforded. 3. My upline (Lia Sophia) extended invitations to their shows and offered to come to mine to assist, train, whatever I needed. 4. Both companies advisors also offered to let me borrow some of their pieces for my shows until I had enough sample. 5. Lia Sophia will buy back your jewelry at 90% of your cost if you choose not to be an advisor within the first year. 6. You get out what you put in.
I am thrilled to start (oh,I already have two shows booked). Anyone interested in becoming an advisor or booking a show please contact me at lsosbo4343@aol.com. I am in the metro Denver area but I know who some of my advisors will be and they are all over the country.
God bless, Linda
2/21/09 at 5:44 pmI have just started as a lia sophia advisor. I am trying to find out what happens if you don’t get qualified in your first 5 weeks. I was told that I have to have $1500 in sales to be qualified. My network of people is small and the parties I have had have been friends trying to help, but they have been to too many shows in a short time to buy much.
Thanks,

Erica,
I’m not a Lia Sophia advisor but my best friend is so I do know quite a lot about the jewelry. There is a misconception about the reason rings can turn our fingers green or black – it has absolutely nothing to do with the ring being “cheap”. Everyone’s body chemistry and oils in our skin is different and sometimes it results in our skin turning colors. I have an 18ct gold band I purchased from Zales that also turned my finger green once in a while. You can use clear nailpolish on the inside of the ring to solve your problem. The nailpolish won’t harm the ring and it will prevent your skin from turning colors.

2/24/09 at 7:38 amHI, i became a lia sophia advisor back in October of 2008. I was doing really well the first month in a half. Then the holidays came, i started school, signed up for classes at church…things just got too busy for me so i stopped booking shows. At the end of January i started getting back into booking shows. I have been trying to book more but i am not having much luck. I even got my friend to join as well. We have soo much fun and love doing the shows, but we cant seem to keep the shows. They either reschedule or cancel “until further notice”. What am i doing wrong? I offer to bank teller, Dtr receptionist, etc.. How can i get bookings outside the shows? Please help me with any ideas you might have. I am desperate!
2/27/09 at 11:33 pmI am considering becoming a Lia Sophia advisor. I went to a regional meeting with a friend who is an advisor. I had a great time and am convinced that there is a huge potential to make a lot of money. However, I am worried about getting the bookings that I need. With the economy I don’t know if people are willing to spend the money. Please help!!
3/10/09 at 3:28 pmHi Katy, There is a misconception out there a lot about becoming a “qualified advisor”. You will not be out of the company if you do not meet the $1,500 in sales, you will just miss out on the $200 jewelry certificate and the recruiting advisor would not be able to count you as a qualified recruit, which helps her earn the free trip, which is currently for Cancun Palace. You will still be an advisor and be able to enter parties and receive commission. I hope this helped you out!
3/12/09 at 6:40 amI think one of the best ways to get your business going again is having an open house at your home. I have done this by sending out and handing out about 100 invites (mainly to friends and family and I walked through my neighborhood and tacked them onto the mail box posts). By doing this I ended up getting three bookings and had enough sales to enter as a show for myself. Just a thought. Hope it helps.
3/12/09 at 4:28 pmWow! I can’t believe how long this thread is!! Its great! I am considering working with Lia Sophia and I have never done this sort of thing before. I have a question that I haven’t seen brought up and it may be a silly one: is the only way you’re allowed to sell the jewelry is through house parties? I mean, could you also, say, have a booth at a local craft fair or something like that and sell the product? Could you hold the parties not at your home but at some other neutral place — like renting out a small conference room — or holding a party at your other place of business (after hours), if you work in an office or something. I’m not too proud of the look of my home right now and I really wouldn’t want to host any parties in it. So, just some thoughts in my head. Are those types of things allowed?
3/22/09 at 5:58 amHi,
3/25/09 at 10:04 pmI just wanted to respond to the gal above.
You never have to have people at your home to sell lia sophia. You can go to area events or just to other homes and bring your samples for others to try and buy.
I live in Wisconsin and have been selling for a long time. I have two direct selling business’ and lia sophia is by far the cheapest and easiest to start.
$149 to start. I paid for my starter kit and made a profit from my business before I even got the bill for my kit. No inventory which is great. My other business is a purse business and it’s back breaking and takes up half my house in inventory.
My first month I did 7 parties at the homes of friends and family and made over $2000.00.
There’s not too many business that are that easy.
I just had my own party and invited everyone and then I took all the bookings from that to start.
Email me I’d love to help you get started.

Hi Nadia,
3/25/09 at 10:09 pmI noticed you had concerns about becoming an advisor with the economy.
This sounds strange but since the economy took a dive my shows have sky rocketed. I honestly think jewelry makes women feel better and with lia sophia they know they are getting a lot for their money because of the reverse save plan. Most other jewelry companies make you spend a lot before you get any deals.
Yes you can set up booths at fairs and businesses. You might get more bookings then sales at fairs since you don’t have the jewerly to purchase right there. But a great way to get your name out and to get contacts. You can have hostesses have their parties at their homes or in restaraunt party rooms etc.
3/26/09 at 12:48 amI had a bad experience with lia sophia myself. I spent over 70.00 on a ring and it turned my finger green…. I think Lia Sophia is way to overpriced for being costume jewelry. I can by sterling silver that will last forever for less then lia sophias jewelry.
3/28/09 at 4:02 pmI dont care what anyone one says about how it doesnt normally turn your finger green. I have been wearing rings for a long time and have only had this happen with Lia Sophia. Its because they are not real, it is costume. I also bought a necklace for my daughter and it broke the first day… I just cant believe they charge that much for there items. And where is it made anyways? Thats why they can give so much away when you host a party because people pay way to much for it where LS I am sure gets it for really cheap and they can afford to. I think there stuff is pretty but not worth the price.
Sorry to the LS ladies out there but I am so frustrated with the company.
If Lia Sophia is so great, can someone explain why it is so expensive, but made in China or Korea?
3/28/09 at 11:15 pmBefore I became a Silpada representative, I did check out some lia sophia jewelry. My sister in law has had many problems with the l.s. jewelry turning her skin different colors. I also had a pair of earrings that I had a reaction to and my ears got infected because of it. This does not happen with real gold or silver, but I don’t think l.s. jewelry is real gold or silver. Cass, you hit the nail on the head. It is costume jewelry. It’s great if you want to have a bunch of pieces, but not so great if you want it last long enough to pass on to a child or family member.
The reason I started with Silpada is because all of their jewelry is hand-crafted and it is all .925 Sterling Silver. No costume jewelry. It is backed by a lifetime guarantee, which means it will last you and it is designed to be jewelry that you can pass on to your kids. Of course it’s going to be more expensive than others, but you really do get what you pay for!
I am so happy with Silpada jewelry, and encourage all of you that are disappointed with the others to check it out!
4/6/09 at 4:48 amOn a side note…. I found an article that will help to explain why some people’s skin turns green from wearing this jewelry. It’s interesting to check out! Make sure when you order from one of these jewelry companies, that you find out if the jewelry you are buying is simply plated (silver over nickel or steel) or is actually full sterling or gold. You want to spend your money on what will last you the longest!

6/11/09 at 4:06 pmI’ve just started selling Lia Sophia Jewelry and am having a fabulous time!!! This will be my first catalog turn over. I have seen the items they will be removing from the catalog … I’m kinda bummed because I have quite a few of the pieces. Any suggestions as to what I should do with the retired pieces, come August???
6/18/09 at 2:49 pmPer our Agreement we may not sell them so what many Advisors do is donate them to charitable events and take the tax writeoff, or use them as booking incentives for your hostesses.
6/25/09 at 10:27 pmGive them as gifts to family, friends.
Offer them as prizes when groups do fundraisers with you.
JUST ALWAYS be sure to let those receiving the items know that these prizes are not covered by our Warranty.
Check out lia sophia’s new FACEBOOK page!

7/1/09 at 10:23 pmI attended a Lia Sophia party last night and what an unpleasant experience! I must admit I’m fascinated by your cult of sales reps, it reminds me of old school Mary Kay, only there are no pink suits, pink caddies or pink hair. At least here in NJ, I can’t speak for the rest of the nation lol. So I’ve spent a lazy Saturday reading up on the subject.
7/18/09 at 10:53 pmThe rep at this party was so pushy and tried SO hard to bully me into not only buying jewelry I just didn’t care for, but into hosting a party and even working for the company. She actually demanded to know WHY I wasn’t ordering anything and WHY I didn’t like the product and demanded that if I just purchased something I would change my mind. The thing is I was polite about not wanting to buy that should have been that, but it wasn’t. I made my apologies to the hostess and left well before the party was over.
I didn’t order for a few reasons. First off I didn’t see anything displayed or in the book that I would actually wear, I prefer simple and elegant, this stuff is just not that. Some people like big, bold pieces and that’s fine but it’s just not me and I wouldn’t feel comfortable in them. Secondly, price. Yes you have some simple hoop earrings and such but why in the world would I pay a small fortune for something that’s plated when I can go to a real jewelry store and get real sterling silver for the same price or less? Thirdly the quality was just lacking in the pieces that were displayed, stones are glued in not set, something I would expect from a product line billed as “filling the gap between costume jewelry and fine jewelry” And lastly I have gone into NYC and picked up almost the same items for my daughter in Chinatown and paid no more than $10 a piece, same exact quality, same designs. Why pay Lia Sophia a hefty sum to be the middleman when I can go there and buy directly?
I’ve read up about this company. All the reps parrot the same things; if your skin turns green is your body chemistry not their product, it’s worth the higher price for that lifetime warranty! Here is what you fail to mention at the time of sale. Yes, you can get a cash refund but ONLY for the first 45 days. After 120 days you have to pay a $5 fee to exchange. You switch product lines every 6 months so the odds are you won’t have the item anymore. If the similar item is more than the first time you not only have to pay the difference you have to pay yet another fee AND you have to pay for shipping. Your “free” replacement can end up costing you as much as $20 even if it’s only a $30 piece.
Also when you type Lia Sophia into Google, the suggested searches that come up include Lia Sophia Scam, Lia Sophia Pyramid Scheme, Lia Sophia Complaints and Lia Sophia Rip Off. Sounds like there are a lot of unhappy Lia Sophia customers using Google! But the real deal breaker for me and the reason I’ll never go to another party no matter who is having it is this: The Better Business Bureau gives Lia Sophia the grade “F” for its high volume of complaints and unresolved complaints. Why would anyone even think about doing business with this company knowing that?
Oh My, what an angry posting.
On the surface your comments sound legitimate, but when the facts are presented the bias shows through.
Lumping all Advisors together based upon ONE that you encountered is truly not fair. Just as in any cross section their are a variety of personalities, so too are there a variety of Advisor styles. Personally, I have never bullied anyone, in fact I do not even play or train my teammates to use the chances type of games to get future bookings.
We present the option of hostessing, informing guests of what they will receive for doing so and leave the choice to them.
We present our jewelry and encourage guests to try the pieces on and have fun with it. And actually I have many shows where a guest or two do not find pieces that appeal to their sense of style. That’s ok, they have had fun playing and helping other guests, enjoy a munchie and girls time.
Quality wise, of course in any jewelry store there are different levels and price points. We do not bill line as fine jewelry. We are quite forthcoming in sharing we are fashion jewelry, talk about that we are gold plated and rhodium (in the Platinum family), that we are surgical steel(most hypoallergenic) ear posts. 70% of our line is below $50 and 43% below $30.
No matter who you would ask, you would most likely find both fashion and fine jewelry disappointments after purchase.
The big difference is that we do offer a money back guarantee for a limited time, along with a lifetime offer of return. We do not question why an item is being returned, a very lienient policy in todays marketplace.
Up to 45 get cash back, a merchandise credit or another item.
From then to 120 days select a merchandise credit or another item.
After 120 days, select a merchandise credit or another item and pay a $5 fee to process.
Please note that when an item is returned broken or defective a $5 gift card is enclosed to the guest, as a sign of appreciation.
And yes if you opt to replace a returned item you do have to pay the difference! That only makes sense. That is the only time you pay a shipping charge, at all other times the Corp offices cover the shipping of a new item or replacement item.
Again that is not the norm when you return items through the mail. Our turn around time is awesome at less than 2 weeks in most cases from the day you pop it in the mail.
Where can you go with other fashion jewelry purchases that may be broken or have a stone come loose or simply change your mind 6 months, 2 years, 5 years, 8 years or more and get your FULL purchase price credit to shop again with?
And please note, even if you purchased the item at half off or as a hostess bonus buy price you will receive full price credit!
Yes we have a new catalog 2 times a year, about 200 items leave and a fresh 200 current styles keeping up with trends and fashion arrive. That is what sets lia sophia as such a success, our keeping up with what is current and stylish. The other about 300 pieces carry over. So actually odds are the piece will be there!
On a broad survey, if you were to question women about their jewelry and skin discoloring..you would see that even FINE jewelry can cause issues when your body’s acid (PH) levels are high. And if that is an issue, the generous warranty will be available.
As to the Google search comments, those posts are links to others wanting you to buy, or use their businesses, MLMs or schemes, sometimes scams or pyramids to make money. Click on several and see what they offer.
The Better Business Bureau does list complaints against lia sophia true. In 2006/early 07 the company implemented a new processing facility and it had a very bad glitch and orders were delayed over the holiday period…causing much frustration to guests, advisors and the Corp offices. It was remedied as quickly as possible and every hostess that had a delay in her show shipping was sent a $50 gift card. Some 90,000 gift cards were sent out as a sign of appreciation by lia sophia.
They also spent effort, time, and money to revamp the customer service dept…ensuring a more prompt response time on any call in and a more thorough system to rectify any issues.
Genuinely, I hear your concerns and agitation. In the future I hope that fades, and that you enjoy a better lia sophia experience..or one with any other jewelry line out there!
7/23/09 at 2:50 pmLynn –
Can you tell me the best way to clean lia sophia jewelry?
Thanks,
Jeri
7/26/09 at 12:51 amJeri,
Caring for your lia sophia Jewelry
Proper care will enhance and extend the life of lia sophia jewelry. Here are some tips:
Use water and mild dish soap to clean your jewelry. If necessary, use a very soft brush. Do not use liquid jewelry cleaners.
Always keep jewelry covered from dust and dirt; store in a protective jewelry box or tissue.
Well water and salty air may cause reactions in jewelry.
Some people’s body chemistry produces more acid in the skin. This may discolor and damage jewelry no matter what you do. (Coffee, tomato and other particular foods can also increase acid in your skin.)
Remove jewelry when working outside, playing sports, cleaning, showering, and swimming. Rings should be removed before washing or applying hand cream.
Soaps, hand sanitizers, detergents, lotions and creams, hair spray, and perfume can break down the finish on jewelry – so always put your jewelry on last.
I hand out a cleaner / polisher cloth to all new guests…want them to keep their jewels sparkling!
Hope that helps!
Lynn
7/30/09 at 10:27 pmHi, I was checking out the lia Sophia opportunity. I found a lot of info that either was helpful or discouraging. One of my concerns is everywhere I see it refers to profits being 30-40 percent of sales. These numbers seem to be too good to be true. Especially when you take into account there are several people above you whom also get money from those very same sales. If lia Sophia gives me 30 percent and 7 people above me get 10 percent that would mean lia Sophia gets nothing and obviously wouldn’t be in business. Does anyone have any paperwork from lia Sophia in regards to exactly how they determine your profits? Everywhere I look all I see is 30 percent of sales. But no break down on what sales is counted. I don’t mean to be a pain but I found from past experiences that I need to read the fine print as often the important details lie within there. I appreciate the help thanks tami

One problem I’m having with wanting to sign up is a lot of my friends are managers. I have talked to them about the opportunity but they have been telling me about some new standards that is making managers drop like flies from lia sophia. If this is the case you have to wonder if the company has made the standards so high as to get rid of managers and just have advisors. Is this so they can have more money for the company? If this the case count me out for sure. Why get involved with a company that in a recession makes it harder for there teams, instead of taking care of them. I will definately not be joining this team
1/21/10 at 2:00 amWell I’ve tried answering 3 times now… oh my!
Tami, I would be happy to send you the paperwork on lia sophia and it’s pay structure. Please contact me via my website ..clicking on my name will get you there. After many years in DS, I have found lia sophia to be extremely lucrative and generous in their efforts to help us succeed.
1/22/10 at 2:17 pmLooking forward to hearing from you. LYNN
luvs jewelry…
Yes lia sohpia did restructure the mgmt requirements all the way up the line. The minimums were so low, that a Mgr with 1 teamamte or even just herself could outdo them.
Our requirements in Unit Mgr are now $7000 per month for the Mgr and 4 teammates. Doing a few shows per month each easily meets that minimum.
It is also based on a rolling 4 month frame, so if you are way up one month it will tide you over a low month.
Those that fell out of Mgmt, were those mainly who had teammates not doing anything and dropping off, causing an issue with the needing of at least 4 teammates to be a Unit, not so much the monetary fulfillment.
Hope that clarifies things for you.
