Darla;

Good point about supporting the American workers who move, process, and sell Lia Sophia or any other product.

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in where a product is made, we forget how many hands touch and make a living getting that product to the consumer.

I love going to home parties (but done hosting them) for the fun and fellowhip and yummy food.

Your Lia Sophia rep works in the US. Her district manager works in the US (most likely). You are helping these women realize a better life for themselves and their families by purchasing. Lia Sophia also supports and donates jewelry to "Dress for Success", which is a national organization that helps low income women become workforce ready by providing business attire.

Also, research all the products you love and use. Coach bags are made in China. Most digital equipment also. However, you are supporting American workers by purchasing these items. The truck that delivers carries the inventory, the warehouse, the workers unloading the trucks, and the sales associates selling the goods.

Let's look at things a little more deeply. Nobody needs be so one dimensional.

I've bought several lia sophia pieces at parties and on ebay lately. Ebay is much cheaper but I am pretty sure they are fake and that is why you can get them cheaper. A lot of the sellers on there are actually in china. I didn't buy from any of those so I thought mine was real has the little card attached but the bracelet is already turning color when I have only worn it once. Be very careful when buying things on ebay. The stuff I bought from a party is excellent quality and has not changed color. The ring I have is not adjustable and I get complements on it every day I wear it.

I have been wondering where its made, I am a glass artist who also does jewelry. Hand made and a life time warranty of repair comes with each piece. I have been wanting to shout to everyone that this Lia Sophia is just crap. There are tons of local artists to support. Lets stop supporting China. Its just sooo unique, that you are likely to run into sooo many other people wearing the same piece.

Hey Ladies!

I just was reading and was interested, too, in where lia sophia products were made. I sell Premire Designs Jewelry and am proud to say ALL their product is made in the USA!!!! The majority of their pieces are made in Dallas, TX, where the home office is. Some are also made in Rhode Island. I'm very proud to work for Premier Designs. Their mission is to provide better lives for women and their families and one of their many founding statements is "demanding fairness in every deal" and a "business of intergrity" and a "servent business" (not a ME business. If you know of a Premire Desgins consultant, I highly recommend contacting her and see the Premire difference. Thanks! ~Sarah **sorry if there are misspellings! I'm terrible without spell check!

Hi Jennie, you mentioned that you and your Mom make jewelry free of plastic and other junk.....that sounds wonderful! How can I buy from you? I just enrolled in Lia Sophia to be a consultant, then I started researching "fair trade", and was appalled that Lia Sophia has their products made in China...which means they are taking advantage of people working in horrendous conditions for less than nothing!

Thanks for your helpful post...and again..let me know how I can see your jewelry to buy.

Leah - yeah, buying Lia Sophia on ebay means no lifetime replacement, but think about it - if you can buy a supposed $80 necklace on ebay for $8, who needs a replacement guarantee? You would have to break the thing TEN times to make it not worth the discount! Is a lifetime replacement really worth $72 to you, 9 times what the item is actually worth? I mean, I can be klutzy, but I don't break things *that* often! (by the way, you can only get the relpacement guarantee if you have a receipt, and after a certain amount of time it costs $5 per item, so it's really not that great).
Seriously girls, Lia Sophia has some wonderful styles, but the jewelry is made in China. I've never owned an $88 necklace (other than Lia Sophia which doesn't count), but if I paid that much for a piece of jewelry, it had better not have plastic in it anywhere, which many of Lia Sophia's pieces do.
Go to ebay if you like the styles - I've spent less than $100 for 15 really stylish pieces, including several long necklaces, some of which are almost $100 individually if you bought at a home party.
 Multi-level-management companies like Lia Sophia prey on hype and people's guilt factor, to buy something when the pressure is on. Don't give in to the hype... just go to ebay and buy what you want WHEN you want, and pay what the items are actually worth - $10 or less!

I have been to two Premier Jewelry parties and bought from the catalog two other times. The parties are super fun. You do not have to buy but can if you choose. Other wise there are just a great way to get out and have fun with the girls trying on jewelry and visiting.

Joy and Dolores, If you are looking for high fashion jewelry made in the USA Premier Designs High Fashion Jewelry is all made in the United States by hand. The sales reps make 50% of every sale and there is no quota (If you are still looking for a home based business, Joy). I bought two rings from Stella and Dot because a friend had signed up with them and I just wanted to help support her business. When my items came in the box said clear as day "Made in China" and "You deserve it"... I was so frustrated that I bought from a company that sells products here (very overpriced) that is made in a company cheaply. The rings I bought were both "adjustable" like you would get from a gumball machine. $42 each. Made me sick!

I'm a little confused as to why some people hate lia sophia, I have purchased over 150 pieces from them, never had issues and they have a lifetime guarantee. As long as I have my receipt I can send anything back whenever I want and they will always take care of it. It may be cheaper on Ebay but you will never be able to return it if something happens, it is worth the extra money to me.
