Getting Ready to Fall
Yes, they’re all styles we’ve seen come down the catwalks months ago, but it’s nice to see the fall ready-to-wear collections at a time of year where they’re actually starting to hit the shelves (I know, it’s still July, but I’m not the one with the marketing plan). It also got me excited for autumn leaves, cute socks, and boots (I love boots), but it also got me thinking and a little scared…
This trend towards power shoulders. I don’t like it, never have and never will, but seeing Marc Jacobs’ fall line again made me wonder if they, along with sharp suits and severity are all coming back (really, I’m not thin enough to pull of severity, and I’m not professional enough to wear a power suit, it’s too much for me). If this is ready-to-wear, I’m not ready to wear it;
And what about Chanel’s coats? While they show off a beautifully long silhouette, they almost all boast the bracelet length. It’s just not practical. You’re either going to be cooking in the September sun or freezing in October frosts.
The Prada coats? Those were divine. I am now waiting patiently for an affordable store brand knock-off.;
