All right, we are getting down to the wire now and I can tell you for sure that coral is definitely one hot color this spring. While it might seem like the color coral is just for retirees, that is not the case any longer. Spring 2010 has opened up that avenue and now, you can whip out your coral makeup and make yourself look beautiful!

Now, the thing about coral is that you do not want to overdo it – you want to do subtle touches. For example, if you are going to do coral lipstick, you do not want to do coral eye shadow as well – you want to make sure that there are just some a hint of coral is all and that should be enough.

More tips and tricks in the next and final blog about 2010 spring trends, make sure that you guys stay tuned!

Now that we have talked a little bit about some hair, let’s move on back over to the makeup and it is about the shimmer. Shimmer is huge, huge, huge for 2010 spring and I can tell you for sure that if you are looking to get a glow, you should put it on your tanned skin.

Shimmering eye shadow as well as shimmering lipstick is hot, hot, hot this season and if you are interested in finding getting your shimmer on, all you have to do is research! To be perfectly honest, every single makeup vendor right now is putting out some type of shimmer makeup and you really just have to look at it.

Shimmer is huge in spring 2010, so make sure that you shimmer it up this season!

I am talking about the inexplicable reemergence of light blue eyeshadow. Why? How? When? For what reason? And please, please, can’t somewhere out there make it go away?

I will give you that models in ultra edgy photo shoots can do this and pull it off to varying degrees of success. I will even allow that it can sometimes look good on the runway.

And hey, perhaps if you are very skilled, you can even pull it off during an evening spent at a club. The real fashion don’t here is trying to wear this frosted junk during the day, when it is really just too much.

After all, you want the whole package to be perfect, from hair to makeup to outfit to shoes. Too few women stop to consider that makeup is a part of fashion — a very important part at that.

Now, that being said, one of the biggest trends for the summer is natural colors. This is especially true where blush is concerned, and designers are absolutely wild about peach. If you saw any of the Hermes shows recently, you are well aware that the color is big on this summer’s palette. A lot of people do not realize that peach actually contains a lot of very strong pigments, though, so you need to apply this blush with a very light touch. Just swipe a little bit of it right below the apples of your cheeks and you will positively glow.

Tarte’s fabulous Cheek Stain has been a consistent ‘Best Blush’ winner of many fashion awards from magazines like Allure, Cosmopolitan, InStyle, Glamour, etc. This product comes in a water-based gel formula that ensures it goes on cleanly without clogging your pores. It’s also packaged in an easy-to-apply push-up stick that glides on with very little effort. Just dab it on your cheeks, very minimal blending is necessary to achieve a natural sexy flush. This makeup must-have blush is available in 8 shades, each with its own delicious fruity scent.

Flush (a cool sheer berry-red that smells like raspberries), Blushing Bride (a deep dusty rose that smells like plums); Tickled (a true neutral sheer peachy-red that smells like peaches); Sunkissed (a sheer bronze that smells like coconuts); Tipsy (a sheer peach with a slight hint of shimmer, this smells like apricots); Dollface (a sheer candy pink that also has a touch of shimmer, this smells like strawberries); Bronze Goddess (similar to Sunkissed in color and scent, but with a touch of shimmer); Cloud 9 (a sheer peach lilac with a touch of shimmer, and a grape candy scent.)

My favorite personal favorite is Tickled, the sheer pretty shade gives me the prettiest healthiest peach glow.

I’m a huge huge fan of Crème de La Mer; its been one of my beauty staples eversince I received a complimentary GWP trial size a few years ago. The luxe moisturizer is marketed primarily as an anti-aging moisturizer, but its many (tested and proven) benefits include a dramatic reduction in undereye circles. While it does cost an arm and a leg, the marked results on my own dark circles, make La Mer totally worth it’s hefty pricetag.

So like many La Mer fans who use it as an eye cream, I was thrilled to hear about the release of the new La Mer Eye Concentrate which promises (taken from the website) “to work over time to dramatically dissolve the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. The eye area appears healthy, more vital.” Key ingredients include hematite (a mineral rich in iron,) white algae, and Miracle Broth (a patented blend of sea kelp, calcium, magnesium gluconate, and botanical oils, that makes the moisturizer so effective.) The ultra-luxe eye treatment is said to contain a triple concentration of Miracle Broth, making it 3x more potent than the legendary Crème de La Mer.

Like most luxury beauty products, La Mer Eye Concentrate comes with a considerable pricetag of US$200 for a tiny 15ml/0.5oz jar. (Which means my lemming will have to cool its heels for awhile until I can afford to try some myself.)

The collection, dubbed The Backstage Beauty Collection, includes three limited edition palettes, decorated with faux-leather rosettes that can be reused as a bracelet or a necklace. Each of the three palettes contains an eyeliner, one matte and two shimmer eyeshadow shades.

The colors from this collection are all very wearable and pretty, but what makes these products absolute winners is the packaging. The leather palettes are elegant and fun to tote around, the leather rosettes add a funky but still classic appeal.

The Backstage Beauty Collection, clockwise from the top: The Front Row Look palette, finished in black-patent, containing a smoky quartz eyeliner; The Red Carpet Look palette, finished in red-patent, containing an onyx eyeliner. The Runway Look palette, finished in pewter patent, also containing an onyx eyeliner.

The Backstage Beauty Collection palettes go on sale in August of this year.
