Louis Vuitton iPhone Covers a Rumour?

Last week, the Internet was all abuzz about Louis Vuitton iPhone covers that were supposedly coming out this weekend and would only be available at the flagship store in New York.

Well, I was curious. So, I actually called the store today and they told me that while online reports were suggesting the cover would be released this weekend, it is technically not available yet and they are only just starting to take names and pre-orders. Here’s the official report straight from the Luis Vuitton One East 57th Street flagship store – there will be a one-time preview of the case on July 16th and they will be taking pre-sale orders from that date.

According to the flyaway fashion reports, the cases will come in a variety of leathers (including, of course, the trademark LV monogram style), ranging in price from $225 for the monogram to $1120 for the alligator.

In my opinion, that slip pocket style is notorious for sticking to phones, making them difficult to slide it in and out of the case. If you want my advice, if you’ve spent the money on an iPhone, then invest in a case that’s functional for you and always test first.

It’s been 3 days since the iPhone launched. Show me the cases.

No, not the piles of black polyurethane blobs with cloudy plastic screen covers that scream “Jr. Sales Agent.” Show me the good cases.

Like this status-quo defying, hand-stitched beauty from Orbino Leather;

It’s crocodile. It’s made in Italy. It’s $319.00.

If the price point is too high, they offer non-croc versions. But, if you’re more of a $50 girl, BoxWave is making a nice, standard-issue leather case with a vertical flip top (you’ve got to have the vertical flip, it’s so satisfying to hear that wooshy-flipping sound). I like the ‘leaf green’ in the back;

Yawn. Yes, it’s all a tad boring, but this next case will make up for it – a handknit number inspired by a creature from Star Trek. This, the Tribbles iPhone Case, could be one of Debra Ann’s HotRomz label’s finest moments;

I’m not sure whether to laugh, cry, or order a dozen…and maybe one of these;

Apple iPhone for ladies ?

Okay, the Apple iPhone is looking great. I haven’t seen anyone at the magazine that isn’t looking forward to being able to review one of those in the near future. The keynote that Steve Jobs did was very interesting (even though he is starting to go into the Bill Gates tactics more and more, haha), and I enjoyed the write-up at engadget too…

The thing is: how female is the iPhone? Can it compete with real ladyphones like the Samsung e500 ladyphone? Probably it can… We’re talking design/minimalism, which screams out unisex. Combine that with the fact that luxury is female (yes, it is!) and I’m predicting quite a few women rushing the june deadline….
