London Fog’s Everlasting Quality

I love London Fog and the minute the cooler weather comes, my London Fog topcoat comes out of the closet. A fashionable coat that looks gorgeous with either skirt or slack business suits, my coat is durable, warm, stylish and a necessary component of my fall wardrobe. But the most beneficial aspect of owning a London Fog is its quality. And anyone who owns one of this label’s coats knows what I am talking about. These coats last forever so when the new styles come out, I cannot justify buying a new one. It is a real dilemma. I want quality but I want new garments, too!

Like clockwork, the Fall 2008 collection has arrived. Maybe instead of buying a new coat this year, I should accessorize since London Fog not only manufactures coats but also handbags, hats, gloves, eyewear and umbrellas. I think the wide brim floppy hat with rope detail is best suited to my head and face shape. The leather gloves with woven plaid design look feminine and rich enough to wear with the new hat and older coat. Now to choose a new purse from this incredible collection, that will be a little more difficult since the designs are fabulous. But I am going for the “Underglass” Signature Jacquard with front pockets. Now I am ready for the new season.

Aside from launching the newest collection, the countdown is on for the launch of London Fog’s e-shop. Scheduled to open September 24, 2008, the website keeps track of the time by days, hours and seconds. It will be a momentous event for the company. As their saying goes, “Modern Function Meets Classic Elegance”. Indeed the perfect slogan for this iconic brand.

Chanel Pre-Fall Collection for 2008

Now this is what I like to see. These designs are scrumptious. I absolutely adore the coats, and the colors are perfect for fall. I really wish they had released this collection for this fall, as I would have loved to be sporting that long black overcoat. I really like the use of purple in some of the designs, also. I think that blacks and grays are great, but I like to see a pop of color especially during the long, cold winter months. This pre-fall collection is fabulous, and I simply canâ€™t wait for the whole show to come out.

With the winter months coming very soon, itâ€™s important to protect our skin, particularly our hands from cold temperatures and wind and snow. It is also important to do so in a fashionable manner, which is where I thought these great mittens from Causse would come in handy (no pun intendedJ ). These Causse Garrance gold mittens are made from lambskin, and will run you about $250. That may be a little steep for mittens, but they are truly beautiful, and just imagine the impression that you will make during the holidays with these beautiful golden mittens on your hands.

Was that Gareth Pugh or Peeeww? This is the, well I shouldnâ€™t say the word, so letâ€™s just say most unattractive collection that I have seen. The hats are even hideous, I mean, really, why the box over the modelâ€™s face? Iâ€™m not sure who actually wears these, maybe clubbers? Anyway, I do not see anyone actually wearing them somewhere normal. I do like the colors, and the idea is there for a great collection, but I just donâ€™t get this one at all. The big, oversized pompoms on the dresses, the back of the skirt that looks as if it has been shredded, and, of course, the box. Enjoy the pictures if you can, Iâ€™ll be looking for a better line myself.

Arm Warmers you say?

To some, the idea of fingerless gloves/arm warmers might seem ridiculous. As in, what’s the point? Well, for starters, they’re super cute. They also make it very easy to operate a mobile phone, coffee cup, purse, or steering wheel. I may be stretching it a bit here, but seriously, they’re really cute. I’m thinking, for those of us who live in colder climates, fingerless gloves under stringed mittens (yes, stringed mittens) is the way to go.

And, just one more thing…instead of calling fingerless gloves arm warmers, why not just call them fingerless mittens? I guess it doesn’t matter. Also, you don’t have to buy a $60 pair, you can just cut the tips off a pair of thrift store mittens.
