Resort Wear that Is Lighter than Air

Spring of 2010 promises to bring lots of light, airy, breezy trends, especially terms of sleepwear, louge wear, and resort wear. Lighter than air dresses will abound, as will coverups. Lingerie will be airy and lightweight as well, though the colors — of every style — will be bright, with shades like peacock blue, lighthearted polka dots, and plenty of lace and frills.

With resort wear, there will be light as air outfits which can double as coverups and casual dresses you can use to run errands.

Multifunction is most definitely the name of the game. As you can see, maxi dresses will be particular popular, as will sets of camis and shorts. Bohemian style prints and bright, tropical colors will abound as well.

Apple Bottom Jeans are HOT

First of all let me just say I know I’m going out on a limb here. Apple Bottom Jeans have an extremely bad rep in the fashion world, but here in Europe they’re basicly unknown (apart from the Nelly song, obviously).

Anyway, I actually LIKE the Apple Bottom Jeans A LOT under these two conditions:

You need the right kind of bum. Not too skinny, but DEFINATELY not too fat either. See pics below for a perfect example on how they look best.
You need the right shoes.

If you get that combo right, Apple Bottom Jeans form the perfect mixture between street and casual classy. Pics below for proof.

Maharishi Necklace T-shirt Dress

Sometimes simple is good, sometimes simple is a little too simple in my eyes. This Maharishi Necklace T-shirt Dress looks great in a thumbnail, sober — basic — no hassle but a nice little pocket-dress. But — when zoomed in on the photo you realize it pretty much looks like a too-long T-shirt // mediocre in quality and looks…

I decided to ask the magazine to buy one and let me try it up close, so I’ll report back soon. Don’t expect me to be extatic in a couple weeks, but I hope it’s not as bad as I fear it’ll be.

$250 for a t-shirt that will hopefully shrink to human size. It’s a strange world…

Mina Perhonen Spring/Summer 2008

This line is simplicity personified. I love the colors and the fabrics. The designs are simple yet elegant. From the dresses to the trousers, everything is so well done. I really like the leggings under dresses look, and these are fabulous. The fabrics all look so comfortable, and there are detections of paper? Embellishments. Just look at the picture with the chain necklace, it really resembles paper chains. I love that! Itâ€™s very unique, and all lines should have a hint of uniqueness. Anyway, the designs are lovely, very feminine and soft. This looks to be a big hit.

Phillip Lim Spring/Summer 2008

Now this is more like it. The Phillip Lim collection is fabulous. All these pieces are so totally normal and wearable. I love it! Even the colors are perfect. From the belted dresses to the pleated trousers, Iâ€™m telling you I would wear everything in this collection. Except of course for the menswear, but itâ€™s really nice, too. I love the cuffed legs in the trousers (first picture). That is one of my favorite looks. This show was so amazing, everything was so completely normal and beautiful. I canâ€™t wait to see whatâ€™s next with this one!

This collection is so fabulous. Itâ€™s like feminine beauty mixed with tomboy chic. I love it. The army camouflage prints are fabulous, and the drawstring trousers are so comfortable. Even the rolled pant legs are great. The whole collection screams â€œwear me!â€. I love the use of scarves, although some think they have been overdone. I think they definitely add character, and these designs have masses of character. The modelsâ€™ hair and make-up was perfectly done also, nothing too much, just simple and chic. The whole show was absolutely wonderful! I donâ€™t really think that the pictures will do it justice, but here they are anyway.

Calvin Klein Spring/Summer 2008

Beautiful! The Calvin Klein collection is beautiful and so feminine. The nuance of color and the fluidity of the silks used in many of the pieces is absolutely stunning. There also seemed to be a seamless feature to this collection, which I simply adore. Overall, the collection seems to be a great hit, the designs are beautiful, the colors are perfect, and they all flow so beautifully. Most of the pieces are really close fitting, so I donâ€™t know how well they would look on those of us who donâ€™t have the body of a model, but itâ€™s nice to dreamJ

Christian Wijnants Spring/Summer 2008 Paris

This is really a wonderful collection. Christian Wijnants has captured a wonderful style of femininity in these designs. The colors and patterns are fabulous, and I positively love the length of the short skirts and dresses. The wide legged trousers are great too. The entire collection is simple yet elegant as you can see from the pictures. This collection is a bit sexier than his designs from last year, and I think that itâ€™s wonderful, although it does give an Urban Outfitters impression. Still, overall I think itâ€™s a beautiful collection. All the pieces are wearable and so adorable.
