Ali Baba pants, straight out of a richly styled Disney movie. To die for djellabas. Terrific turbans. Designers are going the way of Arabian Nights, and they want you to come along for the ride — on a magic carpet, of course. And in this case, the carpet will match your outfit.

Marrakech, Morocco, Arabia: this is a new trend in design this season.  Take Yves Saint Laurent’s daring jumpsuit, with its tempting bits of skin tastefully on display.  Top labels have been truly inspired, and the results are either rich, dramatic monochromatic shades or bright, glimmering colors and fabrics.

Along for this particular magic carpet ride are labels like 3.1 Phillip Lim, Anna Sui, Derek Lam, Etro, Gucci, and even Marc Jacobs, just to name a few.

1 – Antonio Berardi Leather fitted jacket
Brown leather fitted jacket. The collar and lapels lead into a button down front. Long sleeves. Pockets sit on either side of the hips just above the hemline.

2 – Junya Watanabe Check jacket with belt and twisted hemline
Black and white check jacket with belt and twisted hemline. Epaulettes sit on each shoulder. The collar leads into a double-breasted front. A thread through belt sits on the waist. Flap pocket sit on either side of the hips. Long sleeves. The twisted bubble hemline falls below the knee.

3 – Yves Saint Laurent Khaki safari jacket
Khaki safari jacket. The high collar leads into a lace up front that covers the zip fastening. Two breast pockets sit on either side, two more pockets sit on the hips. The hemline sits at the top of the thigh. Long sleeves with button fastenings and zip cuffs.

The night before the Yves Saint Laurent spring/summer collection of 2007 was showed at the Paris Fashion Week and I must say: it’s a great collection! I thought the round shilouettes were the biggest eye-catcher of the whole collection, the bubble shape of the dresses and skirts created a very modern and sophistaced look wich exalted luxe! The main colour of the show was purple, even the runway was purple: the models walked on lavender flowers. The collection recalled the seminal Opium collection ofYves Saint Laurent from the 1970s with wrap waisted jackets and wide, billowing harem pants.

I really like this evening dress. It has a fluid silhouette, but you can still see the bubble shape in it. The colour is absolutly gorgous, perfect for a cocktail party. This dress creates the perfect figure, it showes off your shoulders and gives you a lovely waist. I can not wait untill this collection comes out!
