One June 28th, the world changed a bit in Paris when Kris Van Assche took the runway with a subtle collection for the Dior Homme. To be honest, I think that Kris Van Assche is an incredibly talented designer and for him to be designing for the Dior Home? That is something that is beautiful and all around brilliant if you ask me. While most of the time, Kris Van Assche tends to be way out in left field with his designs, this time and for the season that he was designing for, everything seemed to click into place.

The pants in this picture are from Dior and they were cut to amply at the high and tight at the ankle, which is really a trend that is being passed around right now. The layering all over the place is going to be extremely light and that is the best way to go I think. Kris Van Assche also designed quite a bit of street hipness with a lot of sleeveless jackets, vests and a lot of floppy looking labels with high-tops with the laces wrapped all up the ankle.

Kris Van Assche is a genius when you put some fabric in his hands and while I was not there are this particular runway show, it was beautiful!

Dior finally released its Jazzclub collection of handbags, and the armcandy proved to be just as hot as the eyecandy. Fashionistas, who have been teased for weeks with Dior’s series of ads promoting their Spring 2008 offering, were not disappointed. This newest Dior collection is a clear cut above the rest, with its bold animal prints, edgy designs and sharp detail.

Highlights of the collection are the Runway Dior Jazzclub Flapped Bags, instantly recognizable by its unique slouchy hobo-like shape, and oversized toggle closure. The popular favorite is the Zebra Flapped Bag (pictured below.) This scrumptious piece is dressed in the current zebra print (in a pony-finished leather,) and manages to be trendy, yet maintain a timeless appeal, with its polished logo-engraved silver hardware and silver chain straps.

The Flapped Bag is also available in leopard print, as well as aged lambskin leather in classic neutrals like black, white, and beige. The Dior Jazzclub Handbag Collection can be purchased at Eluxury.com (Zebra Print Flapped Bag price: $2,250)

Beauty brands have been simultaneously releasing their Spring collections for 2008. Here are some of the fabulous beauty best buys of Spring 2008

Bobbi Brown’s Pink Raspberry Collection is a fun take on the season’s pink trend. The name itself implies bright, bold and juicy shades, for flushed pink cheeks, and saturated berry lips. The star of the collection is the limited edition Pink Raspberry Face Palette ($55); this beauty has 2 neutral shades for the eyes, 2 sheer berry glosses, and a pretty pink blush. (photo left)

Shu Uemura’s REBIRTH Collection uses in a unique palette of both soft and vivid hues: eyecolor in vibrant green, blue, purple and yellow; Glow-on shades in sheer washes of pink or orange; lipcolors in soft pink and nude beige. Each piece in this collection is embellished with an abstract floral motif designed by Mr. Uemura himself.Our favorite? The Pressed Eyeshadow in Pristine Green($20), a bright spring green that looks scary in the palette, but surprisingly sheer and irridescent upon application. (photo center)

DIOR’s Flower Blossom Collection is a lovely bouquet of spring colors. Soft pretty girly pinks cavort with neutral browns to create Dior’s 2008 Spring look. Our pick is, of course, the limited edition Dior Flower Blossom Palette; this gorgeous compact is a mix of 5 irridescent pastel shades to highlight the eyes and cheeks, inspired by artist Victoire de Castellane’s enamel “Diorette” jewelry collection. (photo right)

Now, as I flip through this season’s fashion mags, I’m starting to understand this sudden rise in Ostrich husbandry.

Ostrich leather accessories and feathered dresses are everywhere this year. The leather, with its trademark feather bumps, is instantly recognizable and remarkably supple. You’ll see it on everything from shoes to bags to belts to wallets. The feathers, while not particularly remarkable, are showing up more on dresses and hats too (possibly simply as a byproduct of the interest in ostrich hide). See below;

That last dress looks just about perfect for my hips. It actually seems to be based on my exact body type (minus the wing on the left shoulder, I don’t have that).

And though everyone is talking about Dior’s star-studded, multi-million dollar 60th anniversary party at Versailles, I’m more interested in the sustainability of the whole business when almost all the top designers are moments away for retirement and everything totters on brand recognition.

Wouldn’t you just die to try on one of those gowns? I don’t think I could handle it. The experience of being inside one of those ridiculous (and yet, ridiculously awesome) dresses would be too stimulating. I’d probably pee. What was I saying? Right. Fashion Week. Ahem…and while Dior turns us into cupcakes, Chanel would like us to be rectangles;

Tomorrow? Coverage of designers who remember where our waists are.

Sunglasses are the perfect accessories to finish off an outfit. They add that extra sparkle of glamour that makes you stand out! The hottest model this season is definitely the aviator model; all the big designers have one in their spring/summer 2007 collection.

This Ralph Lauren sunglasses has a classic aviator silhouette. It’s made out off cool, sleek titanium with spring hinges to eliminate painful pressure points. It’s on sale on the Ralph Lauren website for only $175 instead of $280!

If you are looking for a more glamorous model, you will love this Dior model. Instead of the sleek silhouette most aviator glasses have, this model has a wider frame, but it still has a nice simple style that flatter a lot of face shapes. The silver tone logo will show everyone that you’re wearing Dior and an included case will keep your goods protected. These Dior aviators are for sale for $144.
