Anamika Khanna clothing: my quest

Anamika KhannaFor the last few days I’ve been contacting all my friends in Asia to see whether or not they can give me some more information on India’s fashion wonder Anamika Khanna. The things I’ve seen from this young designer are absolutely fabulous, and I’m convinced there has to be more information about her available somewhere… However, for some reason, it’s extremely hard to find… A woman who is such a prominent speaker on Indian Fashion (see quote below) shouldn’t be so internet-shy…

“Indian fashion has to buck up. We cannot compete with a Chanel or an Armani. The only way we can survive is by offering something from our rich crafts and doing global designs with an Indian twist.” ~ Anamika Khanna

Anamika Khanna IndiaAnamika Khanna had an explosive career start by winning the ‘Damania Fashion Awards’ and now retails at some of India’s most high-class stores such as: Carma (New Delhi), Ogaan (New Delhi & Kolkata), Ensemble (Mumbai & New Delhi), Espee (Kolkata), Ffolio (Bangalore and Chennai), … You would expect a name like that to pop out thousands of relevant pages on google, right? Well, guess again….

At this point, the best info I have is from this page on BohoLondon.com:

“A self-taught designer her garments are fashionable and classy yet understated, unique yet simple. The embellishments that she uses to enhance the look of a fabric or a garment are never overpowering. She is synonymous with texturing of fabrics by way of embroidery or dyeing or treating a fabric differently to give it a completely new look. She creates her own fabric, a delectable mix of sheer silk, fine georgette, cotton to get a finished shimmering effect. Her clothes beat the stereotype with the colour palette exploding a riot of hues. Each garment is touched by the distinctive Ana Mika look- subtle, simplistic and innovative. With colour and craft as her forte, trousseau wear is naturally her area of specialisation.”

Anyway, if you have any more information on Anamika Khanna, please let me know. I’m so anxious to learn more about her…

    Hi Daphne,

I’m not sure if I’m the source of your Anamika Khanna fixation, but I’ve posted quite a bit about her on my site that you may want to take a look at.

If you haven’t seen it already, check out here and here, and even here and here.

Her pieces are for sale in Europe and the U.S., though they can be a little tough to find. Boho London is her brand’s company, so if you’re looking for the new styles or anything specific, that’s your source.

    Good luck!

    Ms. Spinach,

That’s a GREAT start. Thank you. I’m quite angry with google for not picking up your posts on Anamika’s name there, that’s no good.

Might I add that your trenchcoat looks amazing? The quality of the fabric is so obvious, I bet you wish you had an occasion to wear this any day, right?

Anyway, thank you so much for getting me started, that’s real sweet!

    Love
    Daphne
